Good news, everyone! (Permission to read that in Dr. Farnsworth's voice: granted.)
Things have gone back to normal (well, as normal as it gets ;) ) for me, so I should be back in the full swing of things here.
Less good news: we haven't heard from Vandrare in about a week now. I'll be shooting him a private message, but if that's not fruitful, we may find ourselves down another player. If that's the case, I'll leave it to you guys as to whether we continue with four or recruit another.
Thoughts, questions, comments, concerns: as always, feel free to bring them forward and I'll be glad to help.

So, with combat over, Van's absence becomes less of an issue. But it has been about two weeks since his last post anywhere. Ren, I don't know if you got a response to your PM, but I suspect not. We could carry on to the church and the baron (both likely fairly social encounters as far as I can tell) while trying to recruit one or two replacements. I think that the loss of our primary tracker and secondary fighter may be more than our party can adjust to. And this will give us the ability to regain some arcane power as well.
Just my $0.02.

GM Rennai |

Indeed, I haven't gotten a response from him. I was a couple of hours away from posting something to the same effect myself. :) What does everyone else think re: recruiting new folks? The main things we're missing with Van and Sho gone is arcane and damage (as well as interesting stories and personalities, unfortunately).

Xander Ravencourt |

I guess we can put him at the inn with Sho as a bodyguard. Then if the player returns he can rejoin us.
Xander can track too, so that's not such a big deal. The loss of combat strength is bad, but we still have a full party of four.
Personally I'd like to give Van a bit more time before we replace him.

Milovic Draznoi |

Sorry, been Hawaii-ing. (I'm typing from an an airport on my way home, actually.) I'm okay with giving Van a little longer; it's a shame to lose him.

GM Rennai |

Ooh, Hawaii-ing. Think of me, sitting in my car in 33 degree weather waiting for my husband to get off work. :)
I'll hold off a bit on recruitment, then, in hope of Van's return. Our party of four should still do just fine. And as I said before, I'm all right with further GMNPCing if we wind up needing either of them on short notice.

Milovic Draznoi |

I just realized something that strikes me as amusing: with Van gone :( , our lowest CHA in the party is Tess's 13. We're apparently a really pretty party. ;)
Well, doesn't seem like Van is likely to return, alas. Honestly, I'm fine with continuing as is-- it would break immersion a little to intro a new character in my book, in this tiny town, and we're not really much worse off without Van-- more frontline is always NICE, but we should manage the damage okay with Tess and Milo, I think. Losing Shogunto was more unbalancing than losing Vandrare. I'm okay with working with four if everyone else is.

GM Rennai |

If we decide we need to introduce a new character at some point, he/she could just be another who was meant to join you in the first place and had traveling troubles along the way. It wouldn't be undoable, although I agree we don't necessarily need another.
And what's wrong with a pretty party? :P I'm running Hell's Rebels for my in-person group once we finish Rise of the Runelords, and we're aiming to be nearly the same across our five-person party. My GMNPC witch is likely to be the lowest, and I think she's at like a 12 Charisma.
(We roll a Comeliness stat as well for physical appearance - it gets a bonus from Charisma and race, but is rolled distinctly. Our oracle, already an aasimar and a Charisma-based character, rolled max.
10-12 is average, 18 is heads-turning-as-you-walk-by. He got a 24.)

You dug out the 2nd edition Unearthed arcana....

GM Rennai |

@Tess - Probably, but not quite sure; we just refer to the GM's notebook he keeps it in. He's been playing since first edition, so it's entirely possible.
Heads up, I may not be as responsive as usual over the next week or so. Crunch time at work, and that's when I get a lot of my posting in, especially the longer ones. I should still get in at least once a day.

Your actions were clear from the beginning, always interesting how characters can have similar crunch and be so different. Especially divine casters exemplifying different aspects of the same deities. Great bit of RP IMHO.
BTW, I'm going to get this out there now. My posting rate is going to suffer this coming week. The kids daycare will be closed for Thanksgiving here from Wednesday through the weekend. And we'll be having family in town until next Monday. I'll try to keep up as much as I can, but I can't guarantee anything.

Xander Ravencourt |

Still here, just drained from work and post monster eating a post...
I hate that so much. It's happened to me so many times that I obsessively select all/copy posts before trying to submit them.

Titania Evangeline Snow-fell |

Most of those where I've posted and it disappears tends to happen around the paizo site going down for a bit or server maintenance. It's is extremely rare it happens when not near those times (like 1 in a billion), so I might of timed something perfectly to null it, like posting the exact same time (to the pico second) someone else posted and the system gets a bit confused, thinking it went through and did not get stored in the db.

GM Rennai |

In the morning I'm leaving to do my Christmas thang with my family - I should have Internet while I'm there, but I may be short on time, so I may be slow on posts the next couple of days. (I know, with it being a holiday week, it's entirely possible others will be slow on posting, too, which is fine.)

Milovic Draznoi |

Milo already has an ioun torch, but I am sitting on 398 gp, so I think I'll go pick up a potion of darkvision just in case (assuming Nadia has those in stock). I'm happy to put the other 98 towards purchase of ghost salt, though with just one hit on a melee weapon, and none of us being particularly built for ranged, it's kind of a pricey one-hit. IDK, I'll let others make that call. My gold is there for the spending.
Is holy water even available in town, given an unholy state religion?

GM Rennai |

Sorry, I've been knocked on my rear today by a sudden cold/flu thing, and I imagine some have holiday celebrations going as well. We'll move along once everyone has a chance to get whatever preparations made they need.
Nadia does have a potion of darkvision available for the usual price, as well as some ghost salt if you like. Strangely enough, she also has a couple of vials of holy water available - she has a limited source, though she isn't telling who. It's a decent moneymaker lately, what with the panic over shadows and all; with the high demand and low supply, she's selling it at 40 gp instead of the at-cost 25 gp that good-aligned churches will sell it at.
I will also point out that the known inhabitants of the mirror are fetchlings and shaes. From your research, you know that shaes are outsiders, rather than undead shadows, so holy water won't have any special effect on them, and fetchlings are just humanoids with Plane of Shadow ancestry or influence. Definitely doesn't hurt to be prepared, though, as you can't know for sure what you're going up against.

Xander Ravencourt |

If there are any potions of Lesser Restoration handy, I'd like to buy a couple.
here's a question- Would using Ghost Salt on a vial of Holy Water be enough to make the vial shatter on impact with an incorporeal creature?
I'm also using Ghost Salt on my Aspergillum and loading it with a vial of Holy Water.

Xander Ravencourt |

I can only afford one potion right now. I'll pick it up. Anyone else with a spare 300 gp lying around might want one too.
I'll treat one vial of holy water with my last dose of ghost salt. That vial is in my wrist sheath.
