...just for the record, I don't think we ever sorted out who has the shard dagger. Presumably it should be me or Tess; I can at least use it reasonably well with my weapon finesse but if Tess wants it (as she'll do more damage with it, getting to add her STR), that's fine by me too.
Xander Ravencourt
I assumed Milo had it. Tess would be a fine choice too. Whatever you two want to do. Tess hasn't had any spotlight scenes for a while. Might be nice to let her be the one to stab the heart.

Did I? Herp derp. Well then. And yeah, I know it's for the Heart, not Nicasor, but we have no real idea when the Heart might try and manifest and attack us, it may not conveniently wait until we think we're ready to take it on. ;)
GM Rennai
Good news, everyone! I've gotten back in touch with Shogunto's player (our half-orc witch), and baby-having went swimmingly. He is also getting back into PbP, and I've gone ahead and extended him an invitation to re-join us for the fight with the Heart, if everyone is cool with him coming back. Speak up if you'd like to stick with who's here now; otherwise, Stepan will send Shogunto into the mirror after us and we'll be back to a party of five!
GM Rennai
Hearing no objections, we'll bring him back on in! I'm making final arrangements with him on how Shogunto's rejoining us, then we'll move along to fighting the Heart once he's back.
EDIT: And there he is! We'll make it official now - welcome back, Shogunto. :) Last chance for preparations, then we'll get into it with the Heart tonight.

So literally right after my post went up last night, the boards went down for me-- I was trying to edit my post and wasn't able to. If you're okay with it, GM, I'd alter my prepared actions to also include: drinking a potion of barkskin, and applying the oil of bless weapon to the shard dagger, and not my rapier. (Yes, even though it's already magical-- bless weapon has a useful secondary effect.)
If that's not okay at this point, that's fine.
GM Rennai
It's cool - go ahead and include it in your round one post so I don't forget. (I had a sad on that maintenance; I'd been specifically planning to do my round of posts for the day right about then, only to get on and see the IT help goblins.)
By the way, for your information, the shard acts as a +1 bane dagger against the Heart.
GM Rennai
I meant I was waiting for you and Xander to post your preparations and first round of actions before I continue the fight against the Heart to bust out of this place. We've allied with Nicasor and a couple of his folks and broken our way into the center courtyard, where the Heart, in the form of a big ugly plant, is waiting. The party is up in the first round, and the way is open for you to rush in and attack.

Limp Lash is balanced because the target isn't restrained. It can just move outside of the 20 feet and the spell ends. If the target can't move for some reason, it's a death sentence.
It's nasty, but still not as bad as Hold Person.
Xander Ravencourt
Well, once you get hold person to work, Limp Lash is a little redundant. Coup de Grace works just as well and saves a spell slot.
I like Web or Black Tentacles and Limp Lash. Then you get crowd control and can pick a baddie to completely screw.

Ugh. Still feeling pretty lousy. But I think I'm coherent enough to get some posts together. Been taking care of sick toddlers while sick doesn't leave much energy (physical or mental) to catch up on PbP. I've fallen asleep while crafting posts several times, only to have the situations change by the time I wake. Hope to have something up soon.
GM Rennai
@Xander - Yes, you can see, although you can't hear, and the trip is one-way at this point.
Notice: I'm having a whirlwind big city adventure with the husband this weekend, so my posting may be spotty until Wednesday night. I'll get a post in once I get a couple more actions - botting three of five people just doesn't sound like much fun. :)
GM Rennai
All right, y'all - from here, I'll follow your lead. The meat of the module is finished, but as you can tell, there's still several loose ends of story that could use some tying up. Everyone feel free to chime in as you wish, speaking with Stepan, Anya, the escapees of the midnight mirror, or anyone else; I'm glad to join in as long as anyone wishes.
On the other hand, if you feel your contribution has run its course, feel free to write your out-tro and bid Karpad adieu. It's entirely up to you - where you go from here is your choice. Again, if there's anything you need from me, simply let me know and I'll help to make everyone's conclusion a satisfying one.
Regardless of whether you linger now or go, I'd like to thank everyone here for making my first game on these boards a success; I couldn't have done it without you guys making great story along with me. I wish everyone the best - happy gaming! May your dice roll ever 20s.

715 Gameplay posts.
164 days.
1st adventure I've ever played to completion in Play by Post format.
This is incredible. Thanks everyone. Especially you, Rennai.
Where do we go from here?
GM Rennai
First one I've ever finished, too, and it's the first one I ran. XD
As far as this campaign goes, I'll leave it up for a week or so so that everyone has a chance to read the end, make closing IC/OOC remarks, etc. I appreciate any feedback you guys have - like I said, I'm still pretty new at this, and your input only helps to make me better. After that, I'll go ahead and put the campaign in inactive.
I will probably be throwing out a new recruitment in the next couple of weeks - for what, I haven't decided yet, but it's likely to be another module in the level 4-10 range (I like that they're a much more finishable goal than a full AP, and starting at mid-levels means more character concepts have a chance at being online). If anyone feels they can still put up with me ;), feel free to toss a hat into the ring for it - keep eyes out in the Recruitment forum.
I'm definitely glad to have gotten to game with everyone here, and even if whatever I choose next doesn't tickle your fancy, I hope you keep me in mind!

I think you did very well as a GM; if I have any suggestion, it's a selfish one of maybe looking into modules that can be run campaign mode for PFS credit, as I do love my PFS credit. >___> I vaguely hesitated when first signing up for this one just because it sort of knocks it off my list of games I'll ever get to play for PFS credit, by playing it here. (I mean, there's nothing STOPPING me from replaying it for PFS credit, but now I know the story and I hate doing replays when I know the story, etc, takes all the fun out of it.) If you were willing to run any of the sanctioned ones, it lets me play without the reservation of "well.... that means I'm crossing this one off my list of PFS-playable scenarios..." etc.
Seriously, though, that has nothing to do with your GMing, and you're well within your rights to not want to fuss with the PFS aspect at all. It's just, as I said, me being selfish. :P
You did a great job; I'd be happy to look at any recruitment you put together, whether for PFS credit or not.
GM Rennai
The problem is, I have literally no experience whatsoever with PFS beyond knowing it's a thing that exists; running something for PFS credit would be a huge learning curve for me, haha. I also like having freedom to add/subtract/embellish/expand as necessary, and while I know campaign mode is a bit freer than normal Society play, I think you still have to adhere to material-as-written, yes? Most of the material I have is 3.5-era as well, which I doubt would be eligible.
Suffice to say - something with chronicles isn't likely. But I'll consider it.
