Targeted casting of Enlarge Person and judicious use of Mage Hand, and Black Tentacles.
Knowing Percival, he'll barge in with the Faith Militants and throw some Dispel Magics.
"All right, break it up!"
Luckily for them, they happen to be in a fort with a priest of Abadar and Erastil.
Get married, you two. >:D
Amund Basurto |
Perry did you have to use the Tentacles? Blah
I have no want to make anyone uncomfortable I just enjoy the RPG romance. It seems like something that would happen. In my Goblin Musical PbP I got married, in Robotech the DM is working on one for me but on other PC has a wife, child, and one on the way. A different PC is also expecting. All of that is handled off sreen of course, The Mummies Mask PbP has two PCs just get engaged, finally revealing the little unrequired love triangle that was brew, and everyone else is super flirty.
So I have a proclivity for it. The flirting has to happen before marriage Perry. Though Amumd would prefer a priest or priestess Shelyn. Though if a shotgun weeding is needed... ;) I jest.
Anthuria the name Parzival sounds fine to me. Parzival strikes fear into the hearts of bandits :) I am good with most things. I did name my horse Pretty Girl.

Romance is an interesting part of roleplaying. It can be really hard to manage, even with people you know and trust, not to mention with strangers over the internet. Still, it would be a shame to abstain from portraying such an important part of the human experience, just because some people aren't mature enough to handle internet anonymity...
Props to Amund and Anthuria for communicating their intentions clearly, and handling the issue in a tasteful manner. :)
Amund Basurto |
I suppose I have a stilted opinion of it since I have never had a bad encounter of it. Actually in the I think four years I have been playing there have only been maybe three or four bad 'encounters' with other players and the really bad one did not include me.
The Prostitute in the S&S game I am in doesn't could as a romance thing. She was cringe worthy. You are not obligated to read about that one unless morbid curiosity kicks in.[spoiler] He picked a 13 year old for historical accuracy and the DM rolled for damage when she worked in the seedier parts of town.[/spoiler
Thank you for the Props Jetta :) Also yay safe pottery. I was starting to think you were going to become Link ;)
Amund Basurto |
And I have said many times that Anthuria your posts are fun to read. I liked Jettas head as a cabbage. ;)
My roommates are throwing out ideas and here are some
Mauler, Brawler, and Hauler
Jenny Powder-poof
Godfri Boopelsnoop
Phillip Buckbeak
Clawface
Donatello, Rafael, Michelangelo. They are questing for the Leonardo
Bubbles, Buttercup and that other power puff girl. and yes that is what was said. So helpful
Parzival has a catchphrase 'This times its Parzival'
Amund Basurto |
So mean to Amund. Though I would possibly be the same. I am curious when our bonding moment will be Balthus. I am fine with it. Amund is going to dug his heels in though. Gotta prove the old man wring. :) and I am fine with waiting for my lady of the bountiful garden to post.
GM dont worry. The role play is fun. Very refreshing actually. Most people force the bonding in groups. And discord us fun. Embrace the chaos. Let it wrap you in a cocoon of madness and motion.
Amund Basurto |
My merry band of musical goblins recommend the names
Fluffy, Puffy and Cuddles
Sarah, Percy and Bill
Devourlord, Multibear, and Hank
Roomy says Experiment 626, Valiant, and With You (Which turns into 'Owlbear with you'.)

If anyone's interested in another campaign, I've just posted a recruitment thread for Flight of the Red Raven. If you like, check it out!
Amund Basurto |
The locals seem to have an interest in the owlbears would I be able to get one of them to watch the cubs while Amund is out and about until the trainer shows up?
GM Rennai |
@Perry - Nah, it's a sign I finished the play-through of Midnight Mirror I was running. ;) We've got a good way to go yet in the Vale. Knowledge (nature or arcana) might help with thinking about what sort of beasts could do something like this, but observation's probably the best way to learn more about it.
@Amund - Yes, you should be able to find someone to peek in on them from time to time.
Amund Basurto |
@Jetta please mention the Owlbert it isn't something I think Amund would think of.
@GM yay! Then we are in business.
Jetta Stahle |
@Jetta please mention the Owlbert it isn't something I think Amund would think of.
Let's just assume that is the name she blurts out when Amund pesters her about it at some point of the week. She doesn't have much of an imagination. :)

Oh god, this is the one where the Galtan townsfolk are given Finnish names for some reason... Such common names, as well. It's so surreal. I'm pretty sure I know at least one Matti Järvinen...
With that said, I'll definitely pop in and have a look. I really dig your GMing style. :)
Amund Basurto |
Awe Jetta we could make an event of it. Also Amund hasn't really left the cubs. I think he is nesting.
As to the other game recruitment I have already posted. I like this GM and for more reasons than.I got baby owlbears
GM Rennai |
@Jetta - [sarcasm] You're forgetting, if they aren't English names they're automatically exotic and fascinating, since as we all know the English-speaking world is practically the only world that exists, and certainly should be considered the standard of all normalcy. :P [/sarcasm]
Yeah, if I had a chance at keeping things straight I'd probably change them to vaguely French-inspired names, considering Galt is inspired by Reign of Terror-era France, but I'm afraid I'd lose track of things in the transposition. Better to just roll with it, even if Finns will find it mildly silly.
And thanks for the vote of confidence! :)
EDIT: And on that tangent, I think I've finally figured out why I almost universally dislike, or at least disregard, Asian-inspired elements in fantasy roleplay - they tend to suffer from that same issue. I've studied a fair amount of Japanese and a bit of Chinese, and I think it just bugs me that so many names, words, and even entire cultural concepts are dropped straight into settings with little to no cleverness applied. (Mind you, I can draw blatant real-world parallels for just about every culture in Golarion, but at least they aim for a little more subtlety with most European-inspired cultures.)
Lord Perry Arizian |
Yeah, Rennai is a cool GM. Cheers!
Though I really wanted to run the ward/seals domain for Perry. Inscribing wards to keep out creatures? Very Abadarian.
Also conjuring keys to bypass wards.
Though really, don't lose any sleep over that--Pathfinder would be quite different if you allow me to tinker with it liberally.
If you do, I add sh*t like mana casting, alternate skills/new uses for skills, changes to what spells belong in what schools, spell balancing mechanics, monster creation mechanics, engineering systems for guns/bombs/rockets/mines/constructs/vehicles/gadgets, overhauls for magic item creation rules into being a skill instead of a couple of feats, changes in EXP gaining, automatic (free) Leadership, changes in several dozen spells, alterations to grappling rules, new maneuvers, divorcing wealth from power, automatically-scaling magic items, and the in-game plot goes all over the damn place as the world begins to crumble for a dozen reasons as several million factions begin fighting against one another as the apocalypse is upon us because I never stop reading Elder Evils and stealing sh*t from it!

Objections to clunky world-building in RPGs? We have a lot to discuss! Watch me as I cut Golarion's cosmology/world building structure into bits and twist it into being barely recognizable as one country is relocated across the globe and has its history rewritten!

Tempting but I will pass. Running three and playing in five is my limit.
You all enjoy!
Amund Basurto |
@ GM Rennai do you want me to write out the letter I sent to the captain or can I just give you the general info? Which I will do now. He would have given a brief rundown of what has happened including the owlbears. Asking for a trainer for the cubs to be sent and the offer to compensate said trainer if they can get here quickly without running horses to death. Also asking if word could be spread about the planned group to guard the Vale and if people would be interested in the position and for those interested to come to the Vale.
@ Perry I am a little disappointed where is the big rant? Bring on the rant!
GM Rennai |
@Perry - What was in that tea you gave Father Apar? ;)
Nah, just like everything else people have created in history there's good things about Pathfinder/Golarion and things that could use a change. Most of their world I really find rather stunning, I just can't get into Tien stuff, and it's peculiar how the same thing's happened with every Asian-inspired element imported into high fantasy that I've come across.
@Fabian - Oh, I can understand that. I went back and forth on whether I even wanted to make the commitment to replace Midnight Mirror with another game when it ended; it seems insanity's won out. ;) But I've discovered that it's a two-to-one ratio for GM vs. player PbP games for me - every game I run means giving up two I'm playing. So I've decided that two running/four playing's about the ideal.
@Amund - General info is fine, although I won't object if you want to write a letter. I'll keep track of their travel time and bring new arrivals in when appropriate, and they'll be apprised of the situation as per above.
Amund Basurto |
I have yet to run a PbP game but my table one is eating up a lot of my time. Plus figuring out the maps though I like the method you use. One PbP I am I cannot move my token and have to ask other players to do so which sucks. I am thinking when this game is over I will give one a try. I ultimately want to run the custom game I currently an running at a table but that is a freakishly long game. If my paladin makes the cut in your new game I think I would be at my limit. And insanity should always make your decisions, always. It is more fun that way.
I may write a letter depends on how long it takes me to done my character creation.

A couple of questions before Perry spends undivided money on scrolls: Has there actually been any sign of disease, or have people just gotten momentarily nauseous from drinking the water? Has unclaimed loot been liquidated? We should probably divvy that up so people can make purchases before we head out, and hopefully to make the loot tracking spreadsheet a little less busy. It has gotten a bit too complicated for me to easily comprehend, unfortunately... :c
GM Rennai |
From the reports you've heard, the water becomes murky, with a strong metallic taste, and drinking it causes a few days' worth of severe nausea. After a day, the water clears up again, and there's no ill effect until the next time it happens a month later.
I've been mostly hands off when it comes to loot tracking. I seem to think for some reason it was divvied up after the fey court, but I'd have to go back through the posts to check.
Lord Perry Arizian |
@Perry - What was in that tea you gave Father Apar? ;)
Now he's ranting and causing trouble for everyone!

There is a unique take on samurai elves, but most tropes are played straight, generally speaking.
Anything particular that grounded your gears?A couple of questions before Perry spends undivided money on scrolls:
1. Effects like this usually fall under poisoning or plagues. I've prepared Delay Poison in my second-level slot already as a contingency.
2. Unclaimed loot has not be liquidated unless the GM approved them and after giving a while to object to (mostly, I liquidated art pieces such as the gold plates, etc.).3. Characters can indeed claim from the shared table.
@Party: There is a total amount of 1,285 gp that is in actual gold, and about 9k in items we did not sell yet (cloak of elvenkind, rapier, rosewood armor, Stubbon Nails, etc.)
I claimed the Dex belt to remove Perry's penalty, but the Bear Potion is still unused, as are other things.
@GM: Out of my own pocket, I've also bought four platinum rings for 100 gp to distribute among the lower hit-point characters to cast Shield Other. I presume that it exists somewhere in the fort.
@Party (again): I can give three characters the rings. I nominate Anthuria, Amund, and Jetta--the former because she is a bit squishier than the rest, Amund because he tends to get targeted often, and Jetta because being the tank has risks.

Nah - like I said, it's barely even a conscious thing for me. For some reason, those elements just don't stick into my brain. I've got twenty-something aliases for these boards, several other character concepts I've mulled over, and not one of them has even come close to being Tien (or Vudrani, for that matter). Just a weird thing with me.

Yes, there's a vendor in the caravan who has some for sale.
Amund Basurto |
I got to start a game where my PC was a Vudrani. A spiritualist but the GM seems to have had to quit
GM Rennai |
Wow, it...completely slipped my mind that I hadn't posted in Gameplay tonight. Like, completely. o.O And it's too late for me now, I've got to get to bed...moving along tonight, then. Sorry, mates. Brains are funny, squishy things.
It sounds like the plan is to track the corruption to its source with ways to deal with poison and disease handy. Ordinary late-morning departure time, or do people want to rise early? Does someone want to make any special observations to try and pinpoint timing or determine cause before looking for the source, to narrow things down?
Side note, my posting the next few days might be interrupted - I'm going to visit family. I'll do my best to hit a post a day, though.
Jetta Stahle |
1. Effects like this usually fall under poisoning or plagues. I've prepared Delay Poison in my second-level slot already as a contingency.
It seems to me from the GMs description that there is no actual disease, though I suppose the source could be something that is removable by an application of the spell. We don't know, really. The scroll might be useful regardless, so I'm not strongly against buying it. Just please ask before you spend from communal funds, yeah?
2. Unclaimed loot has not be liquidated unless the GM approved them and after giving a while to object to (mostly, I liquidated art pieces such as the gold plates, etc.).
@GM Rennai: Any ruling on that? Can we sell stuff freely? Since we have a more-or-less direct line of transit from the fort to Korvosa, I think we should be able to get rid of loot, given some time. Say, a convenient week of downtime? ;)

Unless someone really wants to claim something, and the GM gives their blessing, I think we should sell everything to clear the sheet. There is nothing I need on there right now, so I won't be claiming anything.
@Party (again): I can give three characters the rings. I nominate Anthuria, Amund, and Jetta--the former because she is a bit squishier than the rest, Amund because he tends to get targeted often, and Jetta because being the tank has risks.
Jetta will likely decline from taking the ring (as much as I want that damn thing OOC), so Mairen might end up getting it.

Sounds like a plan to me. Jetta does not really care if we leave early in the morning or not, as long as we get there on time. She has very few skills helpful in doing any prep.
Lord Perry Arizian |
@Communal Funds:
I notify before spending (see Energy Resistance Scroll). In this singular case, I will cancel if there is an objection.
@Sell, Sell, Sell!:
Might as well. Rosewood and rapier aren't doing any use.
What do you want to sell, though?
@Ring:
You sure you want to decide this OOC? I would like to roleplay it out and see what happens.
GM Rennai |
@Sell, sell, sell! - Yes, lines of trade are robust enough that selling just about anything can be arranged. The trade caravan you arrived with is getting ready to head out, but there's a shop, Wilderness Wares, supported by a consortium of merchants that can arrange such matters. They also supply most alchemical items and some first level scrolls, and can arrange for any particular items you may need to be available in one to two weeks. I'm fine with selling whatever people don't need, and at this point people have had ample opportunity to claim what they want.
@Ring - Gotta love when your character says no despite you saying yes. ;) I'll let you two roleplay it out, then, as you like.
Lord Perry Arizian |
But IF we commit genocide, the spirits of the Shonati will come back to haunt us. Every battlefield in Golarion is haunted one way or another.
Best course of action is firing Pharasma for not doing her job. :D
Balthus Tauran |
@Party: We can get two more for 50 gp for Balthus and Merian. The blessing halves damage and shares it with me.
What are these rings? I can pay 50 gp.
Amund Basurto |
Theoretically we have time. GM would we be able come back in a month after having done some research and preped? This modular is supposed to have a long running time in game. Would that be a realistic option.
