You'll still need a swim check once you start swimming underwater. If you're diving vertically only, no check needed.

![]() |

Actually, have a question. When jumping from pillar to pillar... is the distance being taken from our move speed? Like... could I hop across multiple pillars with the same move action? If so I could be further along, also need to know about that taking 10 thing. Just assuming it's alright since he isn't being threatened or distracted.
Let me know.

Gigt Axebringer |

It was called out as against the rules, hence Gigt telling Umber not to touch the flags. :)

![]() |

@Glorgrim Yup, go ahead. The distance will be taken from your move speed as it was with Yizzik. Otherwise, crossing those pillars might take a little too long. Give me a perception check too, since you've rounded the corner and can now search out the flag.
Yeah, flying would have made this super easy.
@Vingold I assume you are going to continue climbing across as your turn?

![]() |

Hinata will need a swim check to continue through the water.

![]() |

Just so I know I'm taking that right... Yizzik is saying to forget the flag on the pillars and go for the next one, yes?

Yizzik Uhari |

Yeah, thats exactly what I'm saying. I got this one, go ahead and go for the next one. No sense in us both going for this one.

Vingold Spiritheart |

And I'll just chill back here, not making much progress but making sure our competition makes even less ;)

![]() |

I could put a bit of a hamper on them at the pillars but don't want to block Vingold and Hinata
Speaking of Vinny... Pretty sure your accelatrated climb move you 10 feet, not 5

![]() |

I moved Vingold's token up - I think he gained 10 feet from that accelerated climb.
You guys are doing a lot better than the Chokers right now, IMO.

![]() |

Well Yizzik, the good news is you don't sink having only failed by 4. The bad news is the water everywhere in the course is the same quality as the water in that earlier gap, requiring a DC 12 swim check... =\

![]() |

So that's a no on the taking 10 in the water I take it?
Either way, I'm not in the water, I'm jumping rocks.

![]() |

That's right.
Gigt, I am not familiar with the rules of animal communication, so... Let's see how that plays out? ;)

Gigt Axebringer |

Animal to Animal might be difficult. But most familiars have 'speak with their kind'. It's realistically DM Fiat as to whether that means genus, species, or what. :)
Umber probably won't be particularly useful in getting the flag via conversation. :)

![]() |

Yeah, okay, so it makes sense that they can "speak" to each other.
Aaaand I forgot my four NPCs in the turn order. Should be Yizzik, 4 NPCs, then Glorgrim, Hinata, Vin.
I'll just use Glorgrim's action afterwards.

![]() |

Ah... sorry about that. I thought I was missing something but went more off the listing at the end of your post. *bows* Sorry.

![]() |

Not a problem.
@Gigt So Handle Animal can't work on familiars, eh... Okay, then I'd rather have you immobilize it or tame it in some other way if you're planning on getting that flag.

A3 - The Net Climb
A net is draped over this 20-foot-tall cliff face. A competitor can ascend the net at one quarter his normal speed with a successful DC 12 Climb check, or at half his normal speed with a successful DC 17 Climb check
The flag is pretty clearly visible, so I won't ask you to roll perception:
The flag is located atop a 20-foot-tall pole at the top of the net, which requires additional successful DC 15 Climb checks to scale. Carved from flexible wood, this pole wobbles and sways as more weight is added. The Climb check DC increases by 2 for every additional Small or Medium creature on the pole.

Busy day at work.. I'll try to get an update up this afternoon, if not, it will be this evening.

![]() |

@Vingold The obstacles are numbered sequentially, and that's the suggested path. The dotted line near Gigt is the finish line. She bypassed everything by climbing directly up the mountain walls. As for everyone else, you'll be moving in a roughly counter clockwise direction

Vingold Spiritheart |

Gotcha, thanks.
What direction does it look like the four NPCs near/behind Vingold are going?

![]() |

They'll all be going to the right, towards A2. None of them have enough climbing skill to scale right up the mountain...

Gigt Axebringer |

As a heads-up: Today is my last day at mthe first job I ever had. I've worked here for just shy of nine years... But I've decided I need to move on to a job that pays better... As a result, I'm going to be picking up a lot more hours at work, changing my schedule in the process, and ultimately having a lot less time for those things and people that I love. That being said... I'll become less of a post hog in the majority of my games. Things might change in the future, but at the moment, I'm hoping to continue playing in my games.

![]() |

Not a problem. Real life comes way before PbP :) Congrats on the new job.

![]() |

@Gigt Did you want me to move you to the red star you added as your Round 4 action? - Nevermind, I see you did so!

Gigt Axebringer |

:)

![]() |

I realized later that Erna could have simply taken 10 a few times and she'd be a lot further ahead.
Sorry, Erna...!

Yizzik Uhari |

It's all up to next turn, if I can make my next swim check, my accelerated climb speed will help me reach the top before him. Hopefully. I got no tricks to pull off other than trying to snatch the flag from him or trip him at the top xD

Gigt Axebringer |

The nobleman who just hopped to the top of that column has the first, and may have the second.
Gigt is 'with' the last two. She's trying to get the bard to climb up to her, though. It'd be really nice for keeping his songs going in range of everyone else while being able to still use spells. :)

![]() |

I could so take him down... But it might knock him unconscious in the process...

Hinata Kyomi |

Can we do a disarm or SoH to try and take the flags off them?

Vingold Spiritheart |

That's definitely what I was thinking. I was going to whip the flags right out of their hands.

![]() |

Yup, you can definitely try to get the flags from them using disarm or steal. The only competitor carrying a flag right now is Targrenon, who is near Yizzik's token on the map.

![]() |

Sleight of hand attempts are a standard action Hinata, but... With that Acrobatics roll you could jump from your pillar to the last pillar and still have 20 feet of movement, or did you move to get next to him before attempting to take his flag? Might provoke an AoO though... Don't know how the DM would want to call the moving through a threatened square while already jumping, a second Acrobatics roll maybe?

Hinata Kyomi |

I was already next to hI'm so she's trying to steal and run
She's got a decent AC even with so little Armor so not terribly worried about it and she'll likely pass an Acro check to avoid if it's allowed
On phone so can't edit map sorry, finals week is keeping me busy

![]() |

The flag is yours :) Nice synergy there between Vingold's spell and your SoH check.

![]() |

Vingold, are you moving across the pillars (give me an Acrobatics check) or are you going to use the rope that Gigt will throw down for you to climb up to her?

![]() |

@Vingold Will you move towards the finish line, or towards the dummies?
@Hinata You could try obstacle A4 instead, which uses Acrobatics. Full description is in my profile. If you choose to go that way, throw a Perception check in to see the flag.

![]() |

Vingold, so it turns out Gigt had already pulled the rope back up before your action, which means you would have had both a move and standard action that hadn't been used yet. You can go ahead and use a standard action/modify your move as you see fit.
