By the way, Lilly, your actions are fine (the move actions and all).

Alright, no sense in holding things up anymore on my account. I'm sorry but I think I'm going to have to bow out. Feel free to either bot him around or even kill him if thats easier.
Between work, new health issues with both myself and my mother, I just don't feel its fair on everyone else that I'm as absent as I've been.

I'm very sorry to hear that Glorgrim, but don't worry about it, life is like that.
I may recruit another or we can continue on with four. Things have been moving on the slower side in general and I wanted to propel the game forward. Another player may help with that.

Yes, best of health. When I said life is like that, I meant dropping out of a game because of real life troubles is completely acceptable. It's just a game, after all.
That said, does anyone have any objections if I attempt to recruit a replacement? The alternative would be someone playing as Glorgrim for the rest of the game in addition to their PC, which may be quite a bit of effort.

Best of luck Glorgrim, I'm fine with whatever the group decides like last time

Judging by his silence, I reckon Vingold won't have an issue with a new teammate. I've managed to find another player and he will be joining you as you explore the Redoubt. Poe Quickhammer is a dwarf whose family owed a debt to the Axebringers, and he's since been given the task of entering the Redoubt after Mayor Bensik grew a little too anxious waiting for your return.

Hi Braxen! Wait, your not Braxen...you look like him, but you're note...but hi anyway! :)
You're about to join a merry band.
Poe Quickhammer
Great! Well, I will join in when the gameplay thread moves to a point I can join in! Don't worry, Olivia's got yer back!
Hinata Kyomi
Hi
Lilly Hennett
Naming the crossbow, i can't help but think Varrec from dragon age.
I have a dwarven lvl 2 bolt ace based upon him...save for the crossbow naming.
Poe Quickhammer
Well now, at least the reference is not lost on you, Lilly! :D
I always liked characters who had a special affection for their main weapon.

If only someone would make the Wayfinder app on iOS... It seems pretty convenient to post with.

I wish. They actually stopped offering Wayfinder on Android too, the devs gave up on running it. I just happened to luck out and get the last viable version of it, and my phone doesn't crash the app so I guess I'm just lucky. My wife couldn't get the app to work on her phone. Once I have to update to a new phone I won't have it anymore either. :(

Ah, that's really too bad. They should've open sourced it if they chose to abandon it.
I have no problem reading posts on my phone, but trying to type in the brackets and whatnot for rolls or other formatting is quite the ambitious task.
Poe Quickhammer
Yeah its a pain in my duff. I think the apk is still out there but even so, no apple version.

While running this campaign on tabletop, I had a change of heart regarding potions, scrolls, and wands you might find.
I decided requiring a Spellcraft or Appraise check for items only serves to waste time and doesn't really enhance gameplay at all. The feeling that you find items and can't even use them because you don't know what they are is a little sobering, so I think I'll be more lenient with the DCs going forward.

I must say, this first chapter has been incredibly easy for you guys!
Once we finish Chapter 1, what are your thoughts on a slight CR buff?
Lilly Hennett
Easy is to be taken relatively. :)
Depending on how the dice results are, things can be either easy, hard, or something in between.
GM Red
|
Fair enough. My one thought was that considering all modules are designed for four PCs and we have five, I could ever so slightly buff an enemy (maybe a template?)
Poe Quickhammer
Typically applying templates to one or two monsters in an encounter is enough to boost the CR to make it more challenging. Though I will say I've tried just giving everything the Advanced Template; Complete party wipe... That +4 to all stats makes every enemy terrible to fight.
Lilly Hennett
I think the higher lvl module, Dawn of the Scarlet Sun, was designed for 6 lvl 5 PCs.
1 extra PC isn't a balance crasher, per sé.
If going with 6, or PCs with animal companions, then i'd raise the CR.
We're not waltzing through everything like a dozer through a candy shop.
I reckon there's still plenty of chance for one (or more, but i hope not) to kick the bucket.
Edit:
Poe, i have found that, unless i pit the crew in my homebrew against a truly nasty monster, they will kill everything with relative ease. Even encounters that would be +1, or even +2 CR.
The 1st ever death came at lvl 5, party of 5 lvl 5 vs a CR 7 mimic.
Certainly, a template can increase the odds for the monster, but beware the dicebot and the occasional ingenuity of the players.

Okay, so all but one. :P
I'll likely test it with one weaker enemy and see what happens. I really don't think it'll be enough to give you guys too much of a problem.
I'm not looking to TPK, but steamrolling is really not fun for players.
Poe Quickhammer
Does that just happen to anyone who touches your butt? Because we should really consider weaponizing it then. :)
Just joking. Glad it didn't turn out really badly though.
Lilly Hennett
:)
The 1st game she played in, she did the same to the musclebrain who tried to hit on her. She didn't have the personality issue back then.
I thought her mental exposure to her mystery would eventually cause schizophrenia. But nothing too heavy.
Edit: Of course, him slapping himself in the face would've been funny too.

Yup. The book says you'll gain a level after each chapter. We've had three different character changes and we also have a group of 5... If I try to accurately track XP at this point, it's going to be a nightmare, so I'll likely just award enough experience so that all of you reach Level 6 by the end of this chapter.
Poe Quickhammer
Nope. Not uncomfortable with a horned goat-woman proposing we take a tumble between the sheets while her undead bodyguards stand less than ten feet from us, watching. Not at all.
Now, if I were a follower of Urgathoa, on the other hand...

LOL. I was getting concerned I took it too far but whatever, I committed to painting her as overly flirty so I just went with it.

I apologize for the silence, I had 4 days off the grid that surprised me. I'll catch up tonight.

To tell you the truth, you didn't need to find the correct order, you just had to recite the lines in any order, but I wanted to see what you could come up with. :)
There is a correct order and Yizzik's attempt was pretty good, but I get that there isn't a whole lot to work with.
By sweat and blood, we have come here,
We who are sired by the will to defend,
We who are born with blade in hand,
We who court the ways of honor,
And wed ourselves to duty,
Pledge ourselves to the Firebrand and her mistress,
And in the blaze of both, find eternal strength.
