The liquid inside sloshes slightly as Kei pokes it, but otherwise doesn't react. It actually seems rather mundane - and unlike some parts of this complex, these rooms look like they're actually used by the inhabitants of this place.

Kei gives Alamar a sideways glance, not entirely comfortable with the suggestion. It doesn't stop him from trying it, though, as he knocks the spitoon onto its side with the butt of his staff.
The liquid pools out onto the floor... and lies there. Within the spitoon, kept at the bottom, is a golden chain with a ruby on its end. It looks reasonably valuable - jewelers, at least, would probably love to get their hands on it, given that it looks to be worth 300 GP or so.

"Is anyone else kinda disappointed that it didn't start eating it's way through the floor?" Brass glanced at the shiny with mild interest. It looked pretty enough, it had to be said. Still, it had been sitting in a spittoon filled with an unknown liquid...it needed a wash before it was worn or sold.

The door swung open to reveal a set of stairs heading down to the next level. Well... that had been easy enough, though if you headed down without exploring the rest of the level, who knew what dangers might follow you...?

Brass moved towards the nearest door that had yet to be opened, kneeling to examine it before picking any locks.

Heading into the next area (Room 8), you find a chamber that contains 20 smashed boxes and chests, though nothing of apparent value immediately jumps out at you. No monsters, either - which is arguably a much better result.

Brass bent over and picked up the vial. "So, who feels like taking a swig of this and seeing what happens? I vote 'not me'." She held the vial, watching as it changed colour. She was almost tempted to shake it, but although her medium was metal and machinery she knew enough about chemicals that some could explode when shaken hard.

As a reminder, Psionics-Magic Transparency means that Detect Psionics works similarly to Detect Magic, and can be used to identify the properties of magic items via Spellcraft.

You're in a game with both magic and psionics. As far as I'm concerned, transparency should be a given. XD Much easier for everyone.
The results are inconclusive - whatever the magical effect is, it's strong enough that Iyashi can't get a bead on it. He'll have to try again some other time - or find someone else who can take a look at it.

The door swings open to reveal a very long corridor. You can see one door to your left, about thirty feet down the hall. Otherwise, it seems fairly blank until a turn to the far right. There's also the other door right next to you, of course.

Nodding, Brass moved to the corridor's only door, examining it before opening.

This door is different than all the others so far seen in the dungeon. It is finely crafted, made of ebony wood and bound with gold. The door has an obvious internal lock, also of fine quality. Strange runes are rudely carved in the door. Simply looking at them makes one uneasy - and Brass does need to pick the lock before opening it. It was quite a good lock, too - and she only just managed to get it open by the time she finished.
Beyond the ebony door is a richly-appointed anteroom. Runes and frescoes adorn the walls, depicting a heroic man in the prime of life fighting evil creatures. The last frame of the fresco, however, shows the same man kneeling before a black altar with a shadowy demonic figure above him. An intricately locked door, similar to the one just entered, appears to lead to a tomb beyond.

Brass shrugged. "The doors locked, and trapped. Let me see if I can even get past those first. We can decide if we wanna go inside once we take a quick peek. Hopefully the terrifying gigalich on the otherside will be nice enough to wait for us to make a decision."'
Kneeling, and careful to avoid the needle even with her armour, Brass tried to open the door.

As Brass works to disable the trap, it springs - apparently, her efforts weren't quite good enough.

On the bright side? Poisoned needles can't get through armor very easily, and it broke against what Brass was wearing. So at least there was that. The door, on the other hand, was still locked.

Brass stared at the mark the needle had left, and the smear of poison. "People always says, 'Why do you wear full plate when you disable traps, Brass?' And I say 'So when I screw up I don't die horribly, gurgling on my own suddenly liquified internal organs." Taking a moment to clean off the remains of the poison and discard the rag, Brass attempted it again.
