As Yasu sets out, Rasmorn follows behind. As they walk, the gnome pulls out the vial they had found yesterday, the one he hadn't identified yet. He had meant to take a look at it last night, but hadn't gotten around to it. He casts a spell detect magic and attempts to identify it.

Taking 10 on the spellcraft check, for a total of 18

Rasmorn is easily able to trace the magical enchantments on the vial, determining it to be a potion of cure light wounds.

Laufey also goes along with Yasu. She's not one to sit around waiting to hear back from others.

As Yasu leads the group in pursuit of the tracks you suddenly hear growly, yippy sounds ahead. They definitely belong to some kind of canine, but what kind, you can't say.

Knowledge (nature) DC 11:

They are goblin dogs.

Isabella reaches across her shoulder and unlimbers the enormous falchion that she carries. It looks comically large in her petite hands.

"That probably means more goblins, too," she says.

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia also readies to shoot when the dogs appear. Though if she sees anything that looks like a spellcaster she will shoot them first.

As they leave Father Zantus, Wenona thanks him for the tea. She accompanies the others as they head just outside of the town gate in order for Yasu to follow the raiders' tracks.f Wenona elects to bring up the rear.

At the yips, growls, and Yasu's declaration of their source, Wenona elects not to unlimber her scythe from it's weapon thong. Instead she adopts a readied hand-to-hand stance, the hand wearing a cestus poised to strike at any threat that emerges.

Still covering the back. Who knows? Maybe they will try to surround us. Readying an attack with my cestus on anything clearly hostile that approaches.

The yips and growls grow louder, and then two Goblin Dogs burst through the undergrowth, letting out barks as they suddenly find themselves face to face with you.

Yasu lets an arrow fly from his bow, taking one through the side and immediately causing it to drop to the ground.

Talia, you can take your readied action. After that, I'll see if the remaining dog feels emboldened enough to attack.

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 sigh.

With Talia's shot flying wide, the remaining goblin dog leaps forward towards the party, snarling and growling. Laufey, however, was ready for this, and swings her sword towards the animal.

Laufey, your readied action activates. Wenona, since you are at the back of the group, yours will not.

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Laufey steps to put herself almost directly in front of the beast while reprimanding herself for not bringing her spear. Four-legged beasts on the charge are difficult since they present little of their bodies to swing at.

As it closes on her she quickly shifts to the side, as if to let it pass by her, and brings her sword down across the length of its body.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Laufey's quick sidestep allows her easily dispatch the creature as it leapt towards her throat. The forest grows quiet, with only the sounds of the birds to be heard.

Yasu continues following the trail until it merges with the North road. There, the tracks get lost in the wheel ruts of Varisian caravans, and the footsteps of the same.

It has taken roughly 1 hour to follow the tracks to this point.

"Grrr..." Yasu growls. "Trail goes cold here. Too much traffic."

Yasu will consider what goblin tribes are in this area, and will try to make an educated guess as to which they're looking for.

Do the local Goblin tribes have distinctive decorations? Because Talia did search the bodies, and may have seen something she can tell Yasu.

"Goblins are indigenous to the forests here. They could have come from anywhere," says Isabella sadly.

Wenona huffs and kicks a rock. The small stone clatters down the road. "Hells, I hate these little monsters."

Yasu:

There are 5 tribes in the Sandpoint area. You know that the closest tribe is the Birdcruncher tribe, to the west in caves along the Devil's Platter - although they are also the least aggressive.

You don't know the names of the other 5 tribes, although you vaguely recall one being somewhere in the Brinestump marsh to the south.

Knowledge (local) is the better knowledge skill to choose.

Talia, if you want to determine if you knew of any distinctive decorations, give me Knowledge (local).

"The only one I know of in the immediate vicinity is the Birdcruncher tribe, but they're in the Devil's Platter... and they're not particularly brave." Yasu admits. "I'm not the best informed in the local news, though."

I can understand you wanting to be me, but you stay away from my clothing Rasmorn!

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Knowledge (local) DC 20:

Goblins don't typically wear badges of any kind to identify their tribes. However goblins identify themselves to other tribes, it is something only the Goblins would know.

You do know the names of the 5 goblin tribes are Birdcruncher, Licktoad, Seven Tooth, Mosswood, and Thistletop.

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia explains just how annoying Goblins are to the party. "Goblins identify each other by stench."

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

"So where do we go from here? I know there are five goblin tribes around here, but that doesn't really help us much - can't exactly go knocking on goblin doors asking for the schmucks who stole the father's bones. Can we try to guess their direction and see if we can pick back up on their trail later? I can't imagine a group of goblins sticking with the main traffic-way for very long."

Male Tiefling Hooded Champion 2; HP 20/20; AC 20, T 13, FF 17; Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +2; Resist cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 Init +3; Senses darkvision 60 ft.; Perception +6; Panache 1/1;

"No..." Yasu answers Rasmorn's question. "We'd be lost without a way to track by smell from here. Unless you know which tribe lives in that direction." he says, pointing down and across the road. "It would help narrow them down. But then again I'm not even sure they have the bones anymore."

Was the humanoid's tracks still with them up until the road?

Yes.

Female Human (Shoanti/Varisian) Fighter (Sensate) 1 | HP [12/12] | AC 16, Touch 13, Flat-Footed 13 | Fort +4, Ref +2, Will +1 (ALL +2 vs Charm/Compulsion Effects) | Perception +5, Sense Motive +5 | Initiative +4

Wenona shrugs in resignation.

"It could be this is a dead lead. It's frustrating, but maybe there's still a piece of this puzzle we haven't dug up yet."

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

"It seems there is no shortage of ankle-biter types outside of Sandpoint. Too many to track down and kill in a short span of time. I think trying to find out more about the one who was with them is better."

"From what you all have said about these goblins, they would not have a particular grudge against a town priest. Looking for a person who might want revenge against the priest among those in town, or maybe the local area will get us further."

Stymied in your pursuit of those who stole Father Tobyn's remains, you return to Sandpoint to tell Father Zantus and Sheriff Hemlock that you were unable to further pursue the tomb robbers. Neither seems to consider your failure to be of particular note, and Father Zantus merely expresses a desire to ensure the tomb for the acolytes is reconsecrated, a ceremony he will conduct at dusk.

Where to now? Back to the Rusty Dragon? Off to sell the goblin loot? Up to you.

Male Tiefling Hooded Champion 2; HP 20/20; AC 20, T 13, FF 17; Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +2; Resist cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 Init +3; Senses darkvision 60 ft.; Perception +6; Panache 1/1;

"I'll be at the Rusty Dragon, let me know if there's any cut for me from the things we looted." Yasu says sullenly. He'll go find a seat with his back to a wall and nurse his drinks very slowly.

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia goes off and sells all the crap we've gathered. Returning and splitting the money between everyone.

96.5GP Subject to GM approval.

Knowledge (local) for a place to sell. Alternatively, Isabella, see below.

Isabella:

You know that Savah's Armory typically deals in weapons and armor.

"The best place to resell weapons and armor is the armory on Tower street. Um... Savah's. She'll give you a fair price," says Talia. "She has some interesting stock from time to time, too, if you're looking."

"I'd be happy to help ya carry all of that goblin junk, Talia. I need to see more the town, anyways, and I'd like to see what this Savah that Isabella mentioned has to offer."

Wenona helps Talia haul the mundane loot to wherever we can unload it. While at the weapons shop, she'll peruse the wares. Particularly keeping an eye out for any interesting two-handed weapons!

"It's called the Sandpoint Boutique. Sells clothes and stuff for kids too." he has a small smile when he says it. "I guess we can go give the place a visit. Hayliss is a nice woman."

Yasu offers to go with Laufey to the boutique for some new shirts. He will spend some time looking at a couple of the toys, including a pile of small wooden bows with no tension in their strings; sheerly kids toys.

"Maybe... I guess I could..." Yasu mutters, thinking. "I'll need to get a few knives, a couple of chisels... Maybe I should just use twine?"

Savah's Armory:

The building on Tower Street shows some signs of old burn marks - scars from the Sandpoint Fire a few years back. Fortunately, the building itself was otherwise undamaged, and is well-known for its vast selection of weaponry, including the a good selection of high-quality and exotic weaponry.

Upon entry into the shop, you find yourselves in a large room filled with mannequins wearing assorted armors, and weapons mounted to the walls and in racks about the room. Behind the sales counter are the most interesting items in the room. First is a spiked chain ing across the wall. On a table beneath it are a dozen shuriken on red pillows presenting them in the best light. Finally, there is a repeating crossbow, with a beautiful stock of darkwood and ivory that glows with a faint light. Into the side is carved the word "Vansaya". Apart from the sales counter, this could be an actual armory in a garrison or fort. The proprietress, Savah Bevaniky, looks up as you enter, and a smile comes across her face. "Come in, come in, heroes of Sandpoint! I am so pleased you could come to my shop. I had hoped you would come by. Thank you so very, very much for your aid in fighting those vicious goblins yesterday. I'm not sure how much worse it would have been if you hadn't been here. As a thank you, I'd like to offer you twenty percent off in my shop! Now, how can I help you today?"

Sandpoint Boutique:

Located all the way to the far south of town, the Sandpoint Boutique is filled with all sorts of curiosities and articles of clothing, much of it in the Varisian style. Haylis Korvaski, the proprietress, emerges from behind the counter as you enter, with a smile on her face. The holy symbol of Abadar hangs about her neck. "Welcome to the boutique, heroes of Sandpoint? How may I assist you this fine day?"

At the Boutique:

Yasu will smile, pulling back his hood and slipping off his mask. "Haylis. It's been a long time!" he says warmly. "I don't think you remember me, but Justin and Mary used to bring me by years and years ago."

He will wander over by the toys. "I'm just here to look around, but Laufey here needs some shirts."

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Not having a strong preference in destination, Rasmorn tags along with Talia and Wenona. He will generally hang back from their interaction with the proprietress, focusing on looking around at the various weapons.

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia will invest in a Morningstar for a bludgeoning weapon. Cold iron if possible?

Also she will inquire after blunt headed crossbow bolts, if they have any she will buy some as well.

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Gazing at the exquisitely crafted repeating crossbow, Wenona lets out a low whistle.

"Not my style, but Mother Moon is this a beauty. Ever seen anything like it, Talia?"

"Oooo. Pretty!" Talai coo's over the repeating crossbow. "Heard about them, but I've never seen one until now. Tricky to use is what I heard."

She turns to Savah. "How much for this beauty?"

Savah's Armory:

Savah walks over to a rack and picks up a morningstar, hefting it easily. The head is a darker color than you would usually see, as though made of pure iron rather than tempered steel.

"You're looking for something like this, my dear," Savah says as she sets it on the counter. "Iron forged at a lower temperature for a longer period of time, and not mixed with the coke. You'll have to take care to properly oil the head, mind, else it will go to rust, and take care to clean it after use. As for blunt crossbow bolts, I've not seen such. I can give you something similar though." She goes over to another rack and picks up what appears to be a crossbow, although it has an unusual U-shape bend in the stock. "This is called a stonebow. Instead of firing crossbow bolts, it fires bullets like you would use in a sling, although with more force than you can get just by whirling a scrap of leather around."

As the two of you make over the repeating crossbow, Savah says, "Ah, that beauty. I bought it off an adventurer who was making his way to Riddleport. Don't know why he would want to sell such a beautiful weapon, but it is a most unique piece. I have no idea if 'Vansaya' is the name of a sweetheart, or the bow, or a word in another language, but it's been here since he passed through. A difficult thing to use, as well. It's incredibly complex, and would require a keen mind and steady hands to repair or maintain it. I'll sell such a beauty to you for 1,280 gold, if'n you know how to use it, of course."

Wenona, are there any specific type of interesting two-handers you're looking for? Polearms, swords, axes, etc? The spiked chain would count as an interesting two-hander, so a little more guidance would be appreciated.

Sandpoint Boutique:

Blinking, Hayliss says, "Yasu, of course. You have grown quite a bit since your parents would bring you in here when they came to town."

At Laufey's request, Hayliss gives her a swift, critical eye up and down and says, "Well, you are a good bit taller and broader in the shoulder than we usually see here in Sandpoint. If you want anything of a feminine cut, it will take a bit more time to make. However, we do have some decent options if you are alright with the mens selections. Step right this way and I'll take your measurements."

She gestures to a slightly elevated platform with a mirror as she goes to get a measuring ribbon from her counter.

Female Human (Shoanti/Varisian) Fighter (Sensate) 1 | HP [12/12] | AC 16, Touch 13, Flat-Footed 13 | Fort +4, Ref +2, Will +1 (ALL +2 vs Charm/Compulsion Effects) | Perception +5, Sense Motive +5 | Initiative +4

Ah, good point. Apologies. I'd say non-exotic, reach weapons, with any neat special properties or made of any special materials.

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Unconcerned with the particulars of the clothing, Laufey nods at the woman's suggestion of male shirts.

"The cut does not matter. The clothes are for work and, as I said, do not usually last very long. What ever can be ready fastest will do. How much do they cost?"

Female Aasimar Cleric of Reymenda 9 | 69/69 HP | AC 17 T 11 FF 16 | Fort +9 Ref +5 Will +12 | Initiative +1 | Perception +7 | Channel Energy 6/6 | Daylight 2/2 | Holy Lance 1/1 | Rebuke Death 8/8 | Touch of Good 6/8

Once everyone has made their way to their shopping destinations, Isabella excuses herself and returns to the Sandpoint Cathedral to work with the acolytes and aid in cleaning and caring for anyone else who was injured during the attack.

Just busywork for the downtime.
