From what I can tell, I think the goblins are basically in an X shape, with G3 in the middle and a goblin at each of his diagonals. If this is the case, and I can get to a corner that is 15 feet away diagonally from G3, I should be able to aim a color spray at an angle to hit 4 goblins, though that would put me in melee reach of one goblin. Hopefully he falls :D. Since he hasn't moved yet, he is flat-footed, and I can safely cast this. If I am misunderstanding any of this, please let me know.

Seeing all his friends missing at the goblins, and worried about their remaining numbers, Rasmorn decides to run in and trigger his big blast. Approaching right up next to one of the ugly beasts at the corner, he shouts a command word, and a dazzling spray of colors streams forth from his hand, washing over the 4 goblins closest to him.

Color Spray, DC16 will save or be down for all the rounds

Talia fires a crossbow bolt into the Goblin Rasmorn had burned with acid, spinning him to the ground. G3 Dead

Yasu fires into the fierce melee, but again his arrows miss the mark. He draws another of the javelin-sized wooden shafts to prepare for his next shot.

Rasmorn runs into close range, unleashing a dazzling spray of colors from his hands at the Goblins. One falls to the ground from the blast, but the others caught merely blink their eyes and glare menacingly. G1 Unconscious, blind, stunned for 7 rounds.

The Goblin nearest Rasmorn shouts something in his tongue before viciously attacking the Gnome, gashing his leg badly. Crit on Rasmorn, 5 damage

The two still standing attack Laufey, the longshanks who slew their hero, gibbering angrily at her. The one nearest sidesteps to clear a charge lane for his friend and gashes her arm. Fortunately, his charging friend has trouble navigating the bodies of the commando and his dog, so he is unable to land his blow. 4 damage to Laufey

"Sorry, I need to get up there and help!" Isabella says apologetically to Talia. She rushes up behind Rasmorn and casts cure light wounds on him.

Moved 30', standard action to cast cure light wounds on Rasmorn.

We aren't using one for this battle, because I could find one that didn't have stuff all over it and there isn't one in either the adventure PDF or the interactive maps PDF. As his wounds heals up, Rasmorn looks gratefully at Isabella. "Thank you my dear, quite glad you are around just now." Looking down at the hand the color spray came out of, he adds ruefully "That usually works better than that..."

While trying to back away from the two goblins converging on her, Laufey also stumbles on a dog leg. Her response against the goblin that cut her goes high of its mark, over the top of his head.

Isabella moves closer to the fray, healing Rasmorn of his wounds from the Goblin's attack.

Laufey tries to get some separation between herself and the two goblins swarming her, but she steps on one of the goblins dog's legs and stumbles, causing her sword to swing wide over the head of one of them.

Rasmorn's spell causes the goblin Wenona was engaged with to simply collapse in a heap. The flash of patterned light engulfs two more of the creatures, but they are not affected in the same fashion. Still, it was an impressive bit of magic.

Mere seconds later, one of the goblins is on top of the gnome, wounding him badly with its crude weapon. To Wenona's relief, Isabella reacts almost immediately with a display of divine power that heals Rasmorn's wound.

And now for me to do my part, Wenona thinks as she moves into position on the other side of the goblin from Rasmorn.

"You little creeps made some poor life decisions today!", she shouts while bringing her scythe down in a overhead arc at the goblin.

I was gonna include a note about how I was unsure if Rasmorn had a weapon drawn or not, as it would determine whether or not I got a flanking bonus. However in light of those rolls the issue is utterly academic. :D

Realized I forgot to say Yasu and Rasmorn were could post their actions this round. Also, after that crit, I may need to roll a few morale checks. The book says they fight to the death, but after that, I think a little pants-wetting terror makes a whole lot of sense.

"By Gorums grisly greatsword!" Talia blinks in stunned admiration. "Remind me to be really nice to Wenona!"

Focusing again she aims at a free Goblin. Crossbow + Bless + Guidance: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Even less if I'm firing into melee?

Still blinking in disbelief Talia misses.

Rasmorn flinches back as goblin bits splatter all over him. "Drat and bother! I just cleaned that!" Looking up at Wenona, he sheepishly adds "I, I mean, it was a good hit, and saved me a good deal of trouble; thank you."

He tries to wipe some goblin bits off his clothes as he moves into a good position to hit the last beast standing. Once in a good spot, he lets fly another glob of acid at the irritating little beast.

Move into position 25ft away from the last beastie, preferably at an angle with a clean shot. Casting Acid Splash, taking -4 for firing into melee.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 4 = 17
Acid Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3


Wenona, while castigating the Goblins about their poor life choices, sees her scythe go through one Goblin so easily and quickly she questions whether or not it's a vorpal blade, as both halves of the neatly bisected Goblin fall to the ground. Oh, so very dead

Talia fires at another Goblin as well, but is simply flabbergasted by the carnage wrought by Wenona her shot misses wide.

Yasu smiles at the Goblin's fate before firing an arrow into the melee around Laufey, skewering another Goblin as he does so. Dead

Rasmorn moves to get a good angle to throw a gob of acid at the lone standing Goblin, burning him slightly. 3 damage

Rules Stuff:

Morale: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13

The final Goblin cries out in pain from the acid. As he does so, he notices he's the only one left, the one next to him has a javelin-sized arrow sticking out of him, another of his compatriots appears to be in two pieces, and he's surrounded by heavily armed longshanks. Clearly, his Goblin brain thinks, there is only one thing to do.

Goblin:

"Run for your lives! These longshanks are crazy!"

The Goblin turns and sprints away from the melee, heading towards the Old Light.

He is taking a Run (x4) action. Laufey, Wenona, and Isabella (if you have a melee weapon out) may all make Attacks of Opportunity. They will be resolved in that order.

Laufey swipes at the remaining goblin as he starts to make a run for it.

As he turns to flee, Laufey cuts the final Goblin down.

With this group slain, you notice that the town is much quieter. The raid appears to be winding down, and the Goblins seem to all be dead or fleeing.

Peeking out from behind the water barrel, the man asks, "Are they dead?"

Nudging the one who had fallen to his color spray with his foot, Rasmorn says "This one isn't dead, just down for a little bit. We need to either finish him off or tie him up before he wakes. Might be useful to question him."

Yasu walks up, aligns his side sword with the thing's neck, and plunges the blade down.

"Not getting up anymore." Yasu declares. "Goblins have very little to say of value."

After felling the goblin, Laufey looks about for other threats. When she finds none she relaxes, leaning on her sword and breathing heavily.

Shaking the gore off of her scythe, Wenona grins in Laufey's direction: "I don't know if you caught what I said earlier about being able to leverage your strength into a single impact point but, well, that's what I was talking about."

Hearing his inquiry, she turns towards the formerly imperiled man behind the barrels.

"You're safe now. I mean, ah, safe as anyone is on any given day. No goblins in the immediate area." She then frowns, looking towards the slain hound. "Can't say your poor dog fared as well, though."

"You all should know that I'm running low on juice, magically. I can lob those globs of acid all day long, but that's about all I have left in me. Luckily, it sounds like things are winding down. What in blazes do you think this was? It seemed like more than your typical goblin raid."

Rasmorn begins to search the bodies of the fallen, particularly the goblin leader, to see if there is anything of interest.

"Even on festival, the watch closes up the gates, so there shouldn't have been this many getting in, even if they had just happened to attack." Yasu offers. "Been going to these things every time the family would let me off the farm and I've never seen trouble this big during a festival."

"We should have let that last one run." She jokes. "He would have spread the story of the terrible scythe woman who slices Goblins into halves."

"Anyone scratched?" asks Isabella.

Yasu will go to check on the man by the water barrel. "Sir? Are you all right? Did you get injured?" Yasu asks, adjusting his mask. "Your dog isn't going to make it, but I think you're safe now."

He stands, looking at everyone else. "We seem to have made it out intact. I hope this is the end of it."


The man heaves a sigh of relief, standing and grabbing Yasu and Wenona's hands. "Oh, thank you! Thank you so much! You have saved me from a certain goblining, I'm sure."

Upon seeing Isabella, he murmurs something under his breath before saying, "My lady, surely you must be the leader of this band of great adventurers! I am Aldern Foxglove. It is a most wonderful pleasure to meet you."

He takes Isabella's hand and bows over it before kissing it.

Perception DC 12:

Aldern murmured, "Be still, my beating heart."

Standing, he says, "I would like to thank all of you for saving me. I am staying at the Rusty Dragon for a few days. Please, stop by so I can thank you properly."

Laufey rests for a minute to catch her breath, then pulls a piece of cloth out of her belt pouch. She wipes her blade clean and puts it away. She then takes a look at the cut on her forearm. Deeper than it felt to be, but my hand and wrist still work alright.

She tears off another strip of shirt to wrap around the wound while waiting for the man Foxglove to finish with Isabella. He seems very taken with her, and the bowing, kissing, and muttering is amusing. Laufey resists an amused snort since she doesn't know how it might be received. The people around her are still strangers after all.

Isabella looks slightly uncomfortable, but she seems to hide it well. "The Rusty Dragon... of course, Master Foxglove. Please, you should hurry inside now, in case any more goblins are about," she says.

She gives the rest of the group a sheepish smile.

"I guess she-" he starts to say, but stops when he sees he isn't listening. He turns away, looking around the area to see if any of his arrows are recoverable.

Rasmorn gets a big grin on his face as he overhears the man's murmur. Once he goes away, Rasmorn nudges Isabella and says "Looks like you've got yourself an admirer!"


Talia, Yasu, each of you recovers one bolt/arrow each.

Loot:

The goblins on foot all have what they affectionately refer to as "dogslicers", which are kind of like short swords cobbled together from scrap metal. They wear somewhat smelly leathers and have small wooden shields. The mounted one has a surprisingly well-made weapon known as a "horsechopper", a kind of polearm Goblins favor. These are also usually cobbled together from scrap metal, but this one seems particularly well-made. His armor, although also smelly leather, has metal studs sewn into it. He also has a small, hardened gourd vial of some sort of liquid that smells soothing and almost seems to have a bluish glow when you look into the vial.. All of the Goblins have shortbows, and 20 arrows each.

"Father Zantus seems to have the Cathedral well in hand," says Isabella, remembering that the group had stopped by there to get the shield and mace that she currently holds. "Shall we get this gentleman to safety?"

Laufey watches the gnome collect stuff off the goblins.

She is content to follow along to the Cathedral if that is where the others are going.


As you escort Aldern to the Cathedral, you notice that the Goblin attack looks to be over. Father Zantus and the other acolytes have set up a healing area outside of the Cathedral, and are tending to villagers who may have been wounded in the attack. They seem to be focusing primarily on poultices and bandages, saving their magical resources for those most grievously injured.

Aldern again thanks you and asks you to stop by the Rusty Dragon later for a reward, before heading in that direction.

The people of Sandpoint are clearly shaken, and many of those who have come to receive healing, once done, start moving as quickly as possible to go home. However, they all take the time to stop and thank you all for defending them from the vicious little Goblins. After a short while, the Sheriff appears in the square, looking a little dirty, his armor with new dings, but otherwise in good shape. Noticing you, he walks over and says, "I've heard tell that you assisted us in fighting off the Goblins. Thanks for that. I don't know how they came so close without us noticing, but we'll definitely make sure we have them all rooted out. I've met a couple of you, but I don't believe I know all of you. May I have your names?"

"Sorry about that... happens sometimes," Isabella murmurs as people prepare to make their introductions to the sheriff.

"Sheriff, I'm just going to go grab a few things, I'll be back in a few minutes, if you don't mind."

With that she returns the borrowed gear to Father Zantus and runs off to pick up her things from the south side of town.

"I wouldn't even be able to carry most of it, but this looks interesting" he says, holding up the vial. He spends a moment examining the vial to try to determine what it is.

Identifying what I'm assuming is a potion using perception, since I don't have detect magic prepared. DC is 15+spell level.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Tali was looking for coins and other types of valuables, about the only things worth taking are the MW Horsechopper and the potion. Everything else can be left in a pile for burning.

To the others she says "I must fetch my belongings from the caravan. They may decide to leave town now, and I do not want them to take them as well."

She then walks away toward the caravan encampments.

Isabella returns with a suit of nearly-pristine studded leather armor visible under a tabard. Slung across her back now is a long loop of rope that runs through the rings of an enormous scabbard, inside of which is sheathed a heavy, four-foot-long curved sword.
