Tyrandro hits the lotus with his first shot but the plants is undulating wildly and his others miss the mark. Also the plant has a thick skin that resists penetration. Corpse lotus takes 31 damage after DR.

The unusually dexterous plant dances through the blast of ice avoiding the full effect. However, it does not have any resistance to cold and Iolana's spell causes some leaves to wither and fall off. Corpse lotus takes 25 damage.
Sebastian have better luck hitting up close and hits three times with his rapier. But like Tyrandro's arrows, the plant resists penetration. Corpse lotus takes 69 damage afer DR.

The plant lashes out with four surprisingly long vines, some up to 25 ft. in length. The vines wrap around each of you and constrict while dragging you closer to its bulbous "mouth".
After DR, Ayako takes 13 damage. Iolana takes 17 damage. Sebastian takes 13 damage. Tyrandro takes 11 damage. All four of you are grappled. The corpse lotus does not gain the grappled condition and can hold multiple targets. Since everyone is grappled, Ayako can choose to use her liberating command on any one.

Ayako liberates Sebastian from the plant's grasp and he wriggles free let a wet eel. Thus freed, he times his strike when the lotus' head dips low and thrusts his rapier straight into the center of the bulb. The petals burst apart in a flutter of red. The plant shudders one last time then collapses down on top of itself. Everyone held is released and dropped unceremoniously on their rumps. And the strange mist around its base dissipates. Corpse lotus takes 35 damage and dies.

Before you can celebrate your victory, a great shadow is cast over the courtyard and something briefly blocks out the sun. You look up to see a huge black serpentine dragon with glowing crimson eyes descending upon you from the north in a silent charge. I'll give you a round to react to its approach and it will be in the position on the map (50 ft. up) at the beginning of round 4.

With this blessing, you call your allies to move forth and empower them to conquer and become victorious. Each round for the duration of this spell, each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).
Increase its speed by 30 feet.
Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can’t use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste.

Laori stays in the relative safety of the courtyard doorway and casts sadomasochism on herself. "Bring it on! This is going to hurt!"
Iolana tells Tyrandro the properties of the magic sword but isn't able to identify the dragon. It's easy enough to tell the dragon's color is black. But since I'm labeling the dragon as Umbral Dragon, it's not a regular Black Dragon.
Round 4
The dragon levels off at 50 ft and glides over you in the air. Once directly above, it aims its head down and unleashes a cone of shadows.
Ayako, Iolana, Tyrandro, Sebastian, and Tunstall all need to make Fortitude saves DC 23. On failure, you are blinded for 1d4 rounds and takes 6 Str drain. On success, negate the blinded and take 1d4 Str drain instead. Spread out against dragons =)
You are all also now subject to its frightful presence. Everyone (including Laori this time) needs to make a Will save DC 23 or become shaken. This is a mind-affecting fear effect.

Laori summons a blade barrier 140 feet long and 20 feet high in the air directly on top of the dragon, but the dragon's spell resistance causes the blades to pass harmlessly through it.

The dragon veers to the right flying around the castle tower and then back over the courtyard. It dips down a little lower to 30 ft. up and unleashes a second breath weapon on the largest cluster of heroes hitting Tyrandro, Tunstall, and Ayako. This time the breath comes out as a dark cone of negative energy that causes crippling pain.
Ayako, Tyrandro, and Tunstall need to make a Reflex save DC 23 or take 63 negative energy damage. Save for half. Remember bonuses/penalties for blindness, shaken, BoF (if using it that way), etc.

The dragon hovers 20 ft. off the ground and kicks up a cloud of debris that obscures the vision of those that aren't already blinded. It calls out to you. "You can run and hide but you cannot escape. I have all the time in the world."
Hover: If a creature of size Large or larger with this feat hovers within 20 feet of the ground in an area with lots of loose debris, the draft from its wings creates a hemispherical cloud with a radius of 60 feet. The winds generated can snuff torches, small campfires, exposed lanterns, and other small, open flames of non-magical origin. Clear vision within the cloud is limited to 10 feet. Creatures have concealment at 15 to 20 feet (20% miss chance). At 25 feet or more, creatures have total concealment (50% miss chance, and opponents cannot use sight to locate the creature).

"We need patched up, and better prepared before we face that dragon." Iolana leans against the wall. "We could head back to camp, and get patched up with a teleport or two. I can also try to cast spells through the arrow slits, but that might not be the best use of our spells."

The dragon does not follow you through the castle. When you cross over the bridge, you can see the dragon flying in circles above the castle but does not attack you on the bridge either. The orcs at the barbican let you pass as well and you make it safely to the bone house.
Laori does not have restoration memorized today but can memorize up to (4) 4th level spells per day, but can also use a 5th level slot for a fifth casting to cure all (5) characters that are drained.
Death ward is also a 4th level spell so she can use all her slots for that spell when you return. Death ward will protect you from both the energy drain breath and the negative energy breath that the dragon uses.
You'll need to pay 500 gp total for the five uses of restoration. I'll just take it out of your total loot once you sell. You don't need to go hunting down diamond dust. Count Sial probably has some in his stash.
You are now back to full hp / spells and no ability damage. Are you going straight back to the courtyard or trying a different approach?

Ayako offers up her four scrolls of Death Ward. Perhaps Laori can cast these on us when we need to confront the dragon again
Ayako looks at the map of the castle that they have scratched out.There are some extra rooms before the yard where the dragon is that we can explore. Ayako pointed out the marked out locations. There is also the area surrounding the chained spirit. If we face the dragon, we need to protect ourselves against it's breath. I can gain us some precious seconds of distraction with flying creatures that I summon from another plane.

Once ready, Tyrandro times his shot and fires a pinpoint attack. The arrow pierces a soft spot under the dragon's arm drawing first blood. But then the dragon vanishes from sight. Umbral Dragon takes 23 damage.

Four figures that appeared to be only statues far up on the upper parapets animate into four-armed gargoyles that leap down and land in the center of the courtyard. They land in superhero pose, smashing the stone with their fist as they land and leering at you hungrily.

The lantern archons fire rays of light at the gargoyles. A few rays hit but only cause minor burns. Gargoyle 2 takes 1 damage. Gargoyle 4 takes 8.

Ayako tries to confuse the nearest gargoyle but it resists and remains focused on the battle.
Tyrandro starts shooting the nearest gargoyle to him through his arrow slot. It takes all of his shoots but he takes down the first opponent. Gargoyle 2 takes 133 damage and dies.
The dragon begins hovering over the courtyard kicking up debris the fills the entire courtyard and obscuring vision again. At the same time, it summons a patch of darkness in the hallway dropping the dim light to darkness.
Hover: If a creature of size Large or larger with this feat hovers within 20 feet of the ground in an area with lots of loose debris, the draft from its wings creates a hemispherical cloud with a radius of 60 feet. The winds generated can snuff torches, small campfires, exposed lanterns, and other small, open flames of non-magical origin. Clear vision within the cloud is limited to 10 feet. Creatures have concealment at 15 to 20 feet (20% miss chance). At 25 feet or more, creatures have total concealment (50% miss chance, and opponents cannot use sight to locate the creature).
Darkness: This spell causes an object to radiate darkness out to a 20-foot radius. This darkness causes the illumination level in the area to drop one step, from bright light to normal light, from normal light to dim light, or from dim light to darkness. This spell has no effect in an area that is already dark. Creatures with light vulnerability or sensitivity take no penalties in normal light. All creatures gain concealment (20% miss chance) in dim light. All creatures gain total concealment (50% miss chance) in darkness. Creatures with darkvision can see in an area of dim light or darkness without penalty. Nonmagical sources of light, such as torches and lanterns, do not increase the light level in an area of darkness. Magical light sources only increase the light level in an area if they are of a higher spell level than darkness.
