Seeing the pathfinders have broken his killzone and are currently ganging up on him the mercenary picks up his prized posession provoking from Liandain and Ebon. Liadain manages to connect with her rapier, but Ebon misses.

"Thank you," Alexia mutters to Ebon, obviously uncomfortable with the giant barbarian healing her. "Amateur mistakes, and I will not make them again," she vows.

Talwin gather his items, holding onto his spear and standing at the top of the staircase.
"Well, should we pursue? I'm not keen on letting that one get away."

While Ebon is healing the group, Norine searches the body on the ground before her, under the scythe.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Oh sure, now I get my Nat 20!
"Pursue, but just a little more carefully, as I am sure you are well aware," Norine responds to Talwin, getting up off the floor and advancing, gesturing with her eyes back towards the deadly scythe trap.
"Let's get ready and I'll cast bless again just before we do go down." When everyone is assembled at the head of the stairwell, Norine casts Bless again from her wand. (10 round duration.)

Norine searches the dead elf's body on the ground before her and discovera a ledger belonging to the Devil’s Claw mercenaries. The ledger lists prices for various jobs.
After healing up and casting some buffs the party continues down the stairs and enters an ancient stone room.
A perpetual thick gray fog covers the floor to a height of six inches. Four alcoves extend from a small circular center. The north and south alcoves are lined with ceremonial slabs on which rest skeletal bodies garbed in old finery, the west alcove contains a spiral staircase that winds down from the room, and the east alcove contains only a simply wooden door in the east wall.
In front of this door is the mercenary leader you've seen before, with two of his man at his side and his crossbow loaded and aimed at you.
"Stop right there!" he shouts from across the room.
"We're the Devil's Claw Mercenaries and we've been hired as bodyguards by Celeena Deckland, rightful owner of this vault. We're trained professionals who take our job seriously, so I suggest you leave!"

Liadain gives Ebon a thankful smile and a wink as he heals up the jabbing wound inflicted by those god-damned imps before. She's a little bitter about the mercenary getting away--particularly with his smart-arse act about it--but convinces herself he could not run for much longer, surely...
And, indeed, shortly thereafter, they find him again! What luck. Lia rolls her eyes and flicks her hair back from her eyes before meeting the merc leader's eyes with a steady and almost bored gaze.
"We, too, are trained professionals who take our job seriously--and I can tell you that our business here requires we most certainly do not leave. Your darling boss decided to kill one of our own, and we'd certainly like to have a nice chat with her if we can..." Liadain points her rapier at the leader with a glare, sapphire blue eyes piercing and flinty. "And if you wish to stand between us and our goal, then I am not promising that you will enjoy the result!"

"Oh, for the love of... JUST KILL THEM!" Alexia shouts in frustration. As if to emphasize her point, she begins intoning the words to a sleep spell, even as sand sprinkles from between the outstretched fingers of her hand.

She imperiously strides forward, cloak swishing and books clinking on the stone floor. "Your impudence and arrogance will see you meet your end here! We shall be the victors of our destiny, fools of fools! Give in now, and you shall receive the succour of our mercy; but the smallest misstep here will surely lead to nothing but the end of your tales in this world!"
The blue-haired aasimar pulls up in front of the nearest lackey and flashes her rapier in his direction. "Last chance, sweetheart. Move, or be removed."
