Curse of the Crimson Throne | Loot

Incandescence hears the sound of a strange female voice, animal grunting and sqealing, and combat from somewhere to the east. Exercising prudence, she begins moving in that direction, bumping into Bishop, and then a few steps later, she brushes up against Hanlin.

The eidolon is a clever cat with a cool head. Having heard Vegazi call for a healer, she realizes she's right next to the one guy who might be able to restore her sight.

This might be the best real estate on this cursed battlefield, considering our present circumstances.

Cumulus flies five feet, and attempts what's likely her final cloud-fist-slam on the orc.

Erlathan paws at his eyes madly until his fingers are covered in blood. His vision returned, albeit blurred, he looks at his hands, then rubs his hand across his chin to feel the tentacles. "Ugh, I'm... I'm a monster!"

"Pah! Do not listen to her, Lady Vegazi, you are one of us now and I will gladly lay down my life in order to prevent your capture by the likes of the Hell's Fury tribe." Lord Braggett yells out towards the tree to Vegazi's right, still unable to see and working under the assumption that the ravens have pecked his eyes clean out their sockets, "As for you, orc, I am not yours to spare. Kibble! Attack!"

As Kibble charges dutifully towards Ilka, Braggett drops his bow and finally takes the time to wipe the blood from his eyes, "I can see! Haha ha!" Laughing, he rips his sleeve off, fashions a makeshift bandage, and does his best to staunch the bleeding while Kibble bites at his foe. With his trendy new headband / eye patch complete, Braggett then draws his flail, ready to take the fight to the yet another of Vegazi's sisters.

Braggett: move action to draw flail, standard(?) to heal. Kibble: move 35', standard action to attack Ilka.

If only I had a rank in heal, but I'll give it a go since no one has taken significant damage yet.

Hanlin looks down at Inky's eyes and pokes at the rake wounds from the birds. "Hold on this may sting a bit... you've got a lot going on here..."

"Ok I think that did it, converge on that Boar! Vegazi, see if you can't stop the bleeding and head towards the sound of my voice if you can't!" Hanlin moves closer towards the action before saying this.

"Wait...you mean we can maybe just wipe it away???" Nina gasps, deducing from Hanlin's words that maybe restoring her sight is as simple as really, really wiping the blood away.

Bishop moves into a position to threaten the boar's flank.

While Hanlin applies first aid to the eidolon's wounded eye sockets, Nina tries to patch herself up, but it's difficult in her sightless state.

With the deft hands of a spellcaster, Erlathan staunches the flow of blood into his eyes, and he can see again. Just in time to see Cumulus woof a cloudy punch at Ilka.

Like the cutman in a prize fight, Lord Braggett manages to treat his own wounds, restoring his vision. He draws his weapon and urges his mount to attack Ilka. The wolf snaps at the woman, but she dodges his powerful canines.

Heeding the cleric's advice, Vegazi clears the blood from her eyes and moves to a spot with a better shot at the half-orc-half-fiend.

Umber the boar gores Ruby, leaving a deep, bloody tear in her belly.

Bless: Allies gain a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
Shield Other: Bishop gains a +1 deflection bonus to AC and a +1 resistance bonus on saves. Bishop takes only half damage from all wounds and attacks (including those dealt by special abilities) that deal hit point damage. The amount of damage not taken by Bishop is taken by Hanlin.
Concealment: The vapor obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature 5 feet away has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target).

*Yelp!* Sir Kibble wobbles under the assault, favouring one side. "Kibble!? Stand firm my friend." Lord Bragget calls out in concern for his noble steed as Umber's tusk rips at Kibble's belly. Spotting the strange cloud of fog ahead and still hearing the sounds of battle, she urges Inky to charge forward. "Come on Inky, we need to get in there! Let's gooooo!"

"Okay, okay, fine...but isn't this like deliberately jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire?" Inky asks before racing forward and into the mist.

Once inside, Inky tries to listen and determine where friend and foe lie...

I know I'm next so I'll just post my action since its just a channel and it'll save you an update of hp!

Hanlin watches the fog spew forth after the orc woman casts a spell I be those are related... I should have listened more carefully to father's advice to learn at least a little about magic...

Seeing so much blood being spilled by his companions, especially the loyal Kibble, Hanlin raises his tattooed hand to the sky and asks Iomedae to reward her faithful and his friends for their valiant skill at arms. "Be healed my friends!" Channel, Leave out the Orc woman and Boar: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Channel will hit all allies, then moving 20' closer to the action.

"Hah! There they are!" Inky crows as she takes another step forward and tries snapping at the air in front of her with sharp teeth.

Lord Braggett trumpets a challenge, and his mace thunders into the ribs of the boar. It squeals in pain, so loud it rattles the leaves in the tree above. The grievous-wounded Kibble, however, doesn't get a nibble.

Cumulus swings, misses, and hitches a ride on a gentle breeze, while the arcanist summons up something special.

Bishop steps into the mist and skewers the pig like a shish kebab. His blow staggers the creature and leaves it bewildered. Only its ferocious nature keeps it on its feet.

Nina rubs the blood out of her eyes, leaving ragged, fearsome-looking bright red streaks across her cheeks. At the summoner's urging, Inky enters the mist, squeezing between Bishop and Lord Braggett to try to bite the bewildered boar. Her fangs rip into its fore hock. Nina can't believe the ferocious animal is still upright!

Hanlin move closer to his wounded allies and channels the healing power of Iomedae.

Vegazi shouts a war cry, "Ilka, why can't you and your sisters leave us in peace?" She races into the mist and emerges on the other side.

Umber the boar has lost its mind, spittle flying from its bloody tusks. Bewildered, it lashes out, 1d6 ⇒ 2 goring the eidolon. Its own blood continues to pour from its wounds.

You hear the sounds of an incantation, and tall grass, weeds, and other plants rise up to wrap around your legs.

Everyone: Make a DC14 Reflex Save:
Creatures that fail their save gain the entangled condition. Creatures that make their save can move as normal, but those that remain in the area must save again at the end of your turn. Creatures that move into the area must save immediately. Those that fail must end their movement and gain the entangled condition. Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. The DC for this check is equal to the DC of the spell. The entire area of effect is considered difficult terrain while the effect lasts.

Umber Reflex Save DC14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Vegazi sees Ilka emerge from the mist. The scimitar-wielding woman is surprised to see her quarry so close. "Ah, Vegazi, this is working out quite nicely, indeed! Put down your bow, and surrender!"

Lord Braggett says as the loyal Sir Kibble gracefully dodges the long grass. However, feeling invigorated by Hanlin's positive energy, he manfully pulls against the grabbing plants, tearing up roots. "Aha! Your magic is no match for my exceptional strength, Orc." Free from the grass, he swings at the boar one more time, hoping to finish it off so that the others can offer backup to Vegazi. "Do not waiver, Vegazi, we are far from being beat."

The hyena ventures into the fog, sniffing the air curiously until he nearly steps on the boar's paw. He bites it instead!

Bishop, Incandescence, Lord Braggett and Sir Kibble attack the ferocious boar, but they fail to penetrate the beast's tough hide. Shenzi the Summoned Hyena is more successful and takes a biteful of pulled pork.

Meanwhile, Nina retrieves a wand and heals her wounded eidolon.

Vegazi curses, "Ilka, this ends now." From her quiver, she retrieves a wicked-looking arrow, its shaft marked with strange runes and fletching of black feathers. She draws back her bow and releases the deadly missile.

*Aarf?* Sir Kibble looks up in surprise when he feels the pat on the backside, but the ever vigilant wolf still manages to dodge the menacing pig's last, desperate lunge. Lord Braggett cheers as the boar finally collapses from its wounds, then gives Hanlin a quick salute, "Good show, Sir Hanlin! Kibble would thank you properly, but there is still work to be- What the!" The plants grab hold of the knight once more, but they are still no match for Braggett's might, and he able to pull them up by the roots once more. "Aha! Onward Kibble, and pay no mind to the mysterious Hyena." He urges Kibble on through the long grass and the mist, whirling his flail over his head and roaring his lion's call.

I rolled the reflexes at the end of my last turn as the text said; Kibble passed, but Braggett failed. Braggett: Move action to break free, Standard to use Lion's Call (Duration 3 rounds.) Kibble double move straight out the mists, then down towards Ilka.

The druid narrows her eyes in the arcanist's direction. Ah, if only looks could kill!

Shenzi the Summoned Hyena follows her nose out of the misty thicket and toward her assigned quarry, a hell-scented lady with a scimitar.

Lord Braggett breaks free of the encircling undergrowth and sounds his Lion's Call, while Kibble lopes toward the hellspawn druid.

With the help of her eidolon, Nina escapes the clutches of the vines and other plant life trying to hold her in place. Is there anything else I can do, she wonders.

Jaws dropped and eyes wide, Old Grev and the Dessar family are watching from behind the large windows of the cottage's solarium. Oliver and Adelaine have their hands over the eyes of the smallest children, but they're peeking out at you. Then, they start jumping up and down, and you can hear the muffled sound of cheering.

"Help me, please," asks Vegazi, as she kneels down to examine and treat Ilka's wounds. "She's unconscious, but she'll live."

Shivering, Vegazi looks up at you, teeth chattering. "What do you think we should do with her?"

Erlathan tears the vines off of his feet and dusts himself off. "Wrap her in vines and interrogate her mercilessly..." He mutters.

He walks over to Vegazi, sighing elaborately as he taps Ilka with his wand of infernal healing - but only once someone has bound her arms and legs. 36/50 "We can't just kill her, and she's obviously dangerous. We need to take her in and question her for starters. I don't care what we do with her after that. She was ruthless!"

"Haha! Cracking shot, Lady Vegazi." Lord Braggett cheers, the battle finally won, "Why, we should do what any honourable knight would do in this situation: take her back to Arwyll Stead and see that she is treated well during her captivity." He slides out of the saddle, gives a quick bow and a final flourish of his flail to the cheering crowd, then retrieves a pair of finely crafted manacles from Kibble's saddle bags.

Hanlin finally pulls away from the overgrown lawn once the she-orc falls. "Wow, she really was a pain in the ass... another of your sisters Vegazi? How many more sisters do you have??" He asks with concern for his well being.

He lays his hand on Vegazi and quickly pulls away "You're freezing! We should get you inside by the fire before you catch something." He ushers her inside, with no delay.

He nods in agreement with Braggett about their new prisoner as he heals Kibble, then heads inside. "Stoke that fire, she's gone all cold for some reason!"

"Lord Braggett's right, we can't just kill her," Nina agrees, her expression unusually solemn and serious. "It's not...not what knights do. Not unless they've got no other choice."

The little gnome slides out of Inky's saddle and moves to help secure the unconscious Ilka. "Besides, if you just kill everyone that takes up arms against you then they'll never have the chance to see the light and find a better way, a brighter path."

Nina looks up at her companions as they get both Vegazi and Ilka indoors. "We have to try, okay? Please?"

Grev insists that everyone rest overnight in his cottage, safer here than on the road.

The Dessar family are only too happy to agree. The children are so excited they can barely fall asleep. Their regard for you Pathfinders borders on hero-worship.

Among the bound-and-gagged, still unconscious Ilka's gear, you find masterwork hide armor, a masterwork light wooden shield, a masterwork scimitar, a silent whistle, and a necklace of black feathers similar to those previously worn by her sisters, Jagan and Ogash. Ilka also had 40gp in a small pouch.

There are a number of other interesting magical items, as well, including a potion, three scrolls, and three wands.

Before bed Hanlin will say a blessing of Iomedae and channel her holy energy into everyone in the house who wishes it, save the bound Orc. AKA fully heal everyone.

Erlathan leaps on the magical goodies, cracking his knuckles - and almost his face. "Don't mind if I do, friends!"

Detect Magic + Read Magic + take 10 on Spellcraft for 21 for all of those goods. Flip 'em spoilers, guys.

"It's like we've unlocked a vault of magical fun!" He hops from foot to foot excitedly. "I'd love to nab that scroll of flaming sphere, if you don't mind, and perhaps one of those scrolls of call animal. Sound good? I thought so too!" Yoink

The next morning, the party steps outside Grev's cottage to survey the carnage. Dead ravens litter the old veteran's yard. Scavengers have picked over most of the edible bits, and the worms are working on the rest. Flies buzz over the carcass of Umber, Ilka's erstwhile animal companion. Vegazi looks down at the beast. "The boar was a valiant animal. We should bury it, before the maggots hatch."

Lord Braggett and Erlathan find a number of the boar's tracks leading off to the south-southwest.

The night before...

"Haha! Knock yourself out, my friend." Braggett says, enjoying Erlathan's enthusiasm as he looks through the more mundane items, "Ah! Another necklace for your collection, Vegazi? Ha! I'd love to see the look on Kelseph's face if you ever have the opportunity to present them to her." Lord Braggett says as he sifts through Ilka's possessions, "No matter how many of her 'favourite' daughters she sends to subjugate you, only necklaces shall return to her. He doesn't see anything he can use, but perhaps that's because he is too busy soaking up the adulation of the family. Kibble hangs around with Hanlin and the kids, hoping to join in with the fun if able.

I'm not interested in any of the equipment.

The morning after...

"You have a point there, Vegazi. Why, if the roles were reversed, I'd like my adversaries to do the same for Kibble and I." He helps as best he can with burying Umber, although it seems Kibble does most of the digging. "The way I see it..." Braggett says to his comrades, wiping his brow from all the exertion, "We either attempt to follow the tracks do a little reconnaissance, or we continue rounding up the steaders. I'd hate to miss the opportunity to find out more about our enemies, but I fear putting the lives of these people at risk if we do so... Hmm, it is a pickle."

Though Nina peers over Erlathan's shoulder with curiosity as he identifies the various scrolls and other items they'd found, she sees little that she herself can use. "Most of those spells and wands are beyond anything I know how to do...except this one," she grins, pointing at the Wand of Magic Fang. "That one, I recognize the spellery woven into it! So, if you want, I can hold on to it. It'd give Sir Kibble and Inky both a little extra 'oomph' with their teeth, you know."

Nina can take the Wand of Magic Fang and will be more than happy to use it on Inky (and Sir Kibble!) as necessary!

After a surprisingly restful night's sleep, Nina joins in with helping to dig a grave for the poor boar who'd just been doing what he was told by his mistress. "Lord Braggett's got a point," she agrees, "the more people we collect the harder it'll be to keep them all safe. Maybe we should escort everyone we've got so far back to town and then come back here and poke around some more. I mean, maybe they could stay here in the house a bit longer while we go check out the tracks but that's really dangerous...I don't really want to do that."
