Ithad moves into position. Moondark gets partway toward the door, when she accidentally kicks a rock. It goes skittering a few feet down the tunnel and then drops with a "plunk" into the sewage.
The door suddenly springs open and a short wide-headed humanoid with a wide mouth full of teeth springs out. It screams, "Big 'uns!"

Satinal moves past Jo (to J7) and throws his dagger at the creature.
Acrobatics 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Attack 1d20 ⇒ 7
Before he can throw his dagger, Satinal slips on the side of the sewage channel. Windmilling his arms, Satinal's feet slide out and he drops on his back into the channel.
The creature shrieks with laughter, "Clumsy big 'uns too! Ha ha ha!"
Ithad Thrune
Ithad takes careful aim at the creature and lets a bolt fly. Then draws another bolt and reloads, all the while trying to keep the light stead.
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1
As the bolt goes flying way off mark, Ithad hisses between clenched teeth, "By Asmodeus's Forked Beard!"

Jo runs up to the little fiend, swinging his hammer.
Acrobatics 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (13) - 4 = 9
Before he can connect, the creature dodges out of the way and Jo's hammer smashes harmlessly into the tunnel floor.
Alarra fires her crossbow, the bolt slamming into the monster's shoulder as it shrieks in pain.
Moondark loads her crossbow.
Ithad's shot misses badly and suddenly two more creatures erupt from the door swarming around Jo.
Jo and Moondark, you may both take an attack of opportunity against creature #3. Then, they will resolve their actions.

Jo slams his hammer down on the creature as it tries to move past him. It strikes the side of the creature's giant head and it screeches, "Yowee, look out for giant's big hammer. Me get these ones."
Ithad peers through the dim light and realization dawns on him as he yells, "GOBLINS!"
Goblin 1 Attack 1 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (16) - 4 = 12 misses
Goblin 1 Attack 2 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2 misses
Goblin 2 Attack 1 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (8) - 6 = 2 misses
Goblin 2 Attack 2 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (9) - 6 = 3 misses
Goblin 3 Attack 1 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (6) - 6 = 0 misses
Goblin 3 Attack 2 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (1) - 6 = -5 misses
You nearly laugh at loud at the pathetic goblin attacks. The two swarming over Jo both miss badly with their flashing blades. Surprisingly, the third chooses to attack Moondark instead, but meets with an equal lack of success.

Satinal draws his morningstar and steps up to the badly injured goblin.

Jo is confident that his new friends have his back and wheels around to face goblin #1. He swings his mighty hammer onto the noggin of the little creature.
Swing: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
"Jo smash you, little bug!"
Ithad Thrune
Ithad takes aim on Goblin #2 and releases a bolt at the little menace.
Crossbow bolt:1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20
Not sure if I'm firing into a melee, then I get another -2
Roll to Confirm: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 2 = 1

"Down to the Pit with you!", Ithad cries as he shoots! He then starts to reload the crossbow.

Alarra draws a new bolt and notches it to her crossbow firing at the closest goblin.
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 misses
The bolt flies wide, hitting the door with a THUNK.
Moondark slashes at the goblin, her blade slicing right through the goblin's throat. It slumps into the sewage water with a gasp.
Ithad's bolt strikes true, slamming right into the goblin's chest. The goblin whirls, slides away from Jo, and then runs like devils are chasing it into the darkness.

You open the door and the stench of dung and sour body odor roils out of a small room. Inside you see the disgusting evidence of a nest of the foul creatures. Scraps of stained fabric, shiny bits of metal, strips of leather, and bits of stuffing are all intertwined with some sort of weeds and grasses.
I'm Jo
Jo Looks around the dark sewer ways ensuring that no further threat exists. He listens for sounds of Hell Knights coming.
Perception Check - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
If he hears anything he takes a defensive stand in the direction of the sounds.
If he hears nothing, he asks Alarra if he can borrow one of her daggers. He takes the dagger and cuts the ears off one of the goblin heads and jams them in his pockets.
"Jo make necklace later."
He hands back the dagger without cleaning it off.
Coran Ven den Heuvel
Coran was sent from the safe house with Franco to look for the Janiven and a group she was supposed to be traveling with. Somewhere during the trip they heard the sounds of a battle hoping they all were fully intact. Coran sprinted ahead to find them.
He whispered "Janiven are you there."
Ithad Thrune
Ithad starts to pace alittle as he talks to himself, "Without another marker, each way we choose has an equal chance of being the right way to the safe house. Any way we choose might actually lead to a way out, but not necessarily to the safe house. We could split up, Alarra and Satinal could go one way, each being capable of seeing in the dark; and Moondark, Jo, and I could go another."
Looking around quickly, he dives back into his solitary conversation, "Upon reaching the next intersection each group would check for marks and return here. Also upon running into trouble, each group is to return here. But there is a chance the goblin returns with friends; or the Hell Knights catch up with us. Plus I doubt the rest of the group will stomache the idea of splitting up. So it is decided, pick a way and back track if the chosen way is lacking a sword mark!
Ithad, grinning, turns and faces the rest of the group, "Without a mark, we are a ship with out a navigator; let us pick one path and search for a mark - if we find none we will return here and chose a different way. Oh, Jo don't forget to submerge those goblin bodies!"
I'm Jo
Jo looks at Ithad curiously. Pacing and mumbling, mumbling and pacing. Too much thinking for Jo.
After cutting off the ears, Jo decides to check the little monsters bodies. Maybe they have something of value although he doubts it.
With an audible "growl", Jo's stomach rumbles.
"Jo gettin hungry. We better find way out soon."
At Ithad's request, Jo kicks the bodies into the sewer.
Ithad Thrune
Pointing away from where we came and away from where the goblin ran off too, "I think that way is our best option."
"Everyone keep watching for the safe-house marks." Ithad continues to use his wayfinder to shine a way forward and keeps the loaded crossbow in the other hand.
Ithad Thrune
I think its safe to say, same marching order as before.
"Also keep watch for just a way to the surface. The shadow beasts should restrict the Hell Knights from searching for us. If nothing else, we wait for daybreak and take the risk into the open. Hopefully not..."
Ithad seems to trail off for a moment, lost is some thought. He frantically looks around before continuing, "Is it possible that the sun has set already?"

You don't hear anything, but suddenly a pool of light appears around a corner and five individuals come into sight. The two in front are the biggest human you've ever seen and a tall, thin woman with long, brown hair. Behind them is a youth carrying a light. You cannot see anything but shadows of the other two.
You come around the corner and immediately see two figures in the tunnel. One is a halfling with a heavy looking coat and shield and a sword at his side. The other a tall, lean man with shoulder length black hair. You catch a faint glimpse of a greenish glow from his eyes in the dim light.
Franco Nymmis
Relaxing, Franco laughs and lets his flail hang over his shoulder. Walking forward calmly he tries to get a better look at the two in the back, suspecting they must be on our side if they're running from hellknights." Well simply put, that's cause I'm about the farthest thing from that darlin. Where's Janiven got off to?" He looks about with his arms up and his shoulders shrugged.
I'm Jo
Jo looks at the two strangers. They don't look too dangerous although the flail the tall strange looking one is carrying looks nice. Der are some odd looking people in deez sewers. Wonder if he can use dat weapon or just carries it to look important, Jo thinks to himself.
His thoughts quickly change as he looks at the two approaching the party. Not perceiving a threat he asks, "Hey, yous got any string?"
Ithad Thrune
"Forgive us for our lack of manners, but let us skip the pleasantry. We were separated from her and her youthful companion earlier in our flight from the Hell Knights. Perchance you know a way out of this light less maze?", Ithad turns back towards Jo. "String?"
Coran Ven den Heuvel
Coran chuckles at the quick barrage of conversation, and starts reaching around in his belt pouch and pulls out a package wrapped in brown paper with a string. He undoes the strong that held the wrapping on the bag of tobacco and hands it to Jo.
"Here sir I think this might do if you don't mind the smell of tabbaco."
Coran looks at the young lady that spoke first "No we are not Hellknights sorry to disappoint you, I think I might be to Short for one."
Looking now at the younger man "I can hope we can back track from here but after a while of walking all the turn look alike."
He extends a hand "I am Coran by the way. He turns slightly and points I think we came from that way." he gestures to the way they came from hoping that they can find their way back to the safe house.
I'm Jo
Jo reaches down to the extended string and takes it with a crooked-tooth smile. He lifts the string to his nose and sniffs.
"Mmmmm.... smells good!"
"Thank you little boy! Jo just met Karen and he already like you better than the Throon!" he shoots Ithad a funny look.
"Karen a funny name for a little boy, doh."
Jo takes the string, turns away, and occupies himself biting small holes in the goblin ears and making a necklace for himself. When finished tying it around his neck, he turns around quickly and proudly shows everyone his new jewelry.
"Ta - Da!!!!
GM - Did Jo find anything on the Goblin bodies?
Moondark
|
One of the shadowy figures from the back is a short haired teenager of indeterminate gender dressed in a dirty tunic even for the foray into the sewers. "As long as you can find the way back out, I won't be too disappointed you aren't Hellknights." Moondark glances back the direction they originally came, "Let's just get moving before the real deal shows up."
Franco Nymmis
"Franco Nymmis." He says simply, taking Alarra's clawed hand, he grips it firmly and nods at her sentiment." The pleasure is all mine Alarra, Would you join me at point? Let us hope Janiven has made it to the Safehouse by now." He chuckles slightly at Jo, glancing at him one last time over his shoulder before taking point and walking into the darkness.
Perception1d20 ⇒ 16
Franco doesnt have the best perception modifier( having none at all). Henceforth I invited Alarra to join him since she was at point before.

Following Franco and Alarra, the new comrades begin together in the direction that Franco and Coran approached.
Let me know if you guys want any tweaks to the marching order. I have plans for Satinal. He'll stay with you for now. Jo, each of the goblins was wearing stanky small leather armor and carry two busted up, nasty looking cleavers.
