Jo could always try to lead the big guys on a goose chase as a distraction. This would give time for the rest of the party to free the captives. Jo has higher movement rate than most of these guys.

sigh. i don't use google and don't really want an account with them to be honest. it's a hassle to try to recover the dummy account I set up originally for this game and I'm not about to set up another account with their current privacy policy. if it's inconvenient to send me map updates. I understand.
i don't know what the current scene is, are there any guards left around me and Emmett? Too bad I haven't taken any ranks in disable device to open the wagon :P sems like we are going to have to kill them for the key.

![]() |

No worries, I'll take care of you. Just prompt me if I forget. I don't want to leave it completely open since I will be using Paizo IP and I suppose they could get cranky if I don't treat it like its a private game.
You will have to either find the keys or break into the wagon without anyone able to pick the lock.

Xianae |

I was thinking the same thing about the acid splash, as I have an infinite amount of them. The only other thing I can think of is maybe "The Badger" has the key for it.

Emmett Escheus |

I don't think Acid Splash works for this. I seem to remember the description to be quite specific.

ah, I see. she had them slung over her shoulder and dropped them when the fighting started. oh well. the dice made sure our ruse didnt work, i guess we are left with killing them all. I would have focused on breaking Azael out first, but i'm currently lacking in locksmithing.
Maybe if Jo is free for the moment maybe he can whack in the door? although it appears the wagon is leaving...

I would like to know if any of you would like to declare The Badger as a nemesis. This has pluses and minuses. You'll get a special boon that you can use against him (could be in combat or roleplay). The downside is that he'll also have something special for you. I'm going to rule that Emmett doesn't qualify at this time since he tricked The Badger into thinking he was a Hellknight. There will be opportunities for this at other points in the campaign with other adversaries as well.

Secret ingredient thanks to those nasty kobolds at OD ;-)
This AP has great opportunities for recurring foes though it takes a bit of customizing the adventure on my part. It will make it much more organic though.
So those of you that aren't ready yet, aren't feeling it for The Badger or just want to see how it plays out, don't worry. More opportunities will be coming.

Jo,
Pick from the following abilities to use for a future encounter with the Badger:
1. "I have you now!" You pick your moment and maneuver into position just as the Badger least expects it. You may take an extra 5-foot step, even if you have already taken one on your turn.
2. "Not going out like that!" If the Badger drops your hit points between zero and your negative Con, you automatically succeed on a single stabilization check.
3. "I hate you, hate you, hate you!" When you use this ability, you do an extra point of damage per level. You may use this ability even after you have rolled to hit and know the success or failure of your attack.
4. "Like the back of my hand." This ability duplicates the spell divination with an effective caster level equal to your character level. You receive a short, useful piece of information in response to a specific question about the Badger. Sample permissible questions include: "Where is the Badger", "What is he up to", or "How can I best prepare for the Badger."
If you want to suggest an alternative of similar power level, please feel free.

Hi guys,
Life is getting busier for me and I'm running 3 games of my own that I want to keep going so I'm cutting back on my playing. Unfortunately, I am going to have to bow out of this game. This is a great group. Good luck saving Westcrown.
Moondark is likely to not want all the heat and just go back to her hideouts to wait it out.

Emmett Escheus |

Sorry as well...

I'm torn. This is designed for four, so you guys should be ok. The biggest problem is that you are now lacking a skills monkey. You shouldn't need a rogue in particular until you get further into this. If you guys would like a larger group, I'll go try to get 1-2 more.
You guys are heading into a stretch where I'd give you a few days of down time to let the heat off anyway. If you have things you want to do (like sell off loot from the Hellknights), you can go ahead and do so. Also if there is any shopping you want to do or NPCs you want to check in on.
Once we get through that and determine if we want additional players, I will advance to the next scenes.

I'm Jo |

I think between Xianae and Jo we got the front liners covered. Emmitt and Coran for the diplomatic stuff. You are right, we can use a rogue type. Perhaps an NPC will suite the needs?
I am now involved playing in two of these PBPs. THese are my first two. Is this loss of players typical? We have a rash of them in the other comapaign I am involved in also.
Just curious.

Coran Ven den Heuvel |

The Rogue type might not be needed but in an adventure path called the Council of Thieves it seems we might need one.
As for the people leaving I am in 4 campaigns including this one we have lost at least one player per game. I am betting it has to do with how long it takes between moves.

Xianae |

I think we should get a Rogue type character, PC or NPC. As long as is works with our mis-matched group.
As for the duration of heat dying down, I think I shall stay in the safe house and practise my combat skills, sharpen my Axe, etc. Just kill the time.

Emmett Escheus |

I'm good with recruiting. Let us know if you wish us to advertize in the we are in.

![]() |

Ok, I'll open a short recruiting period. If we don't get one I'll fill in with Rizzardo or Yakopulio as an NPC when I think it might be helpful. Losing a skill monkey worries me a little more, but we'll see how it goes.
BTW, losing characters does happen a lot. You'll see a fair amount of bias in recruiting toward people that have been 6 month plus players. Moondark handled it great. Most just disappear. I've had GMs disappear in 5 games too. One we managed to pick back up with a new GM. The others just died.

Emmett Escheus |

Tell me about it! I stopped counting!

Dreaming Warforged |

My own opinion is to go ahead with the recruitment and pick the best, based on the application. If not, and you pick a person first, you'll have awkwardness if the produced character is not really in line with what the party needs.
I have had this situation prior and while we, in the end, found a way to work together, it has put pressure on things.
Just a suggestion though. You're the boss.

Emmett Escheus |

Welcome!
