Matin, Kura, to clarify:

The reason I want you guys to post up your numbers separately and explicitly is so that I never have to ask "where did that bonus come from?" when I look at your profile, see that you have a certain number to hit and that the number you have quoted is different.

That said, I do want you to list each bonus and penalty separately. For Matin, this would look like:

Attack (Deadly Aim): 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 1 = 22
Damage (Deadly Aim): 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8

The first bonus is the bonus you always have, regardless of conditional modifiers. The rest are in order, so that you could have something like:

Attack (Flanking, Bless, Wounded, Power Attack): 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 20
Damage (Power Attack): 2d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 + 6 = 14

Or something.

Maybe it seems a little bit... rules-y, but it's more than just an aesthetic choice. The separation really helps with weird situations so I don't have to go digging around or hold up gameplay by asking where bonuses like that come from.

Also, Matin, you can roll multiple dice all in the same diceroller. I'm not sure whether you know that. For the crit damage, you could have rolled something like this:

Crit Damage (Deadly Aim): 3d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) + 6 + 6 = 23

or something like this (if you weren't certain whether the critical had confirmed or not):

Damage (Deadly Aim): 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5
Crit Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2) + 4 + 4 = 16

FYI: If and when combat happens, I can roll initiative. In general, waiting for everybody to do things like that takes too long. I'll be rolling a lot of things for you, including saves that happen when it isn't your turn, in the interest of saving time. Much like making an attack roll, I'll usually take actively rolling initiative as a declaration of "I want to have combat right now".

That said, I'll use your roll, Calder, and you guys can feel free to roll things like that.

Alright - I wanna make a bigger Gameplay update so that I can get a lot of stuff under one umbrella, but I need to address a couple of things first:

Kurasaviel leaps forward and kills Helva. The Ulfen warriors totally capitulate without any direction. Will you let them go? If not, what do you do?

What do you want to do next? It's about 9 or 10p.m., and Snorri's funeral is set for the next day at dawn. Given that it's winter in the north, that might not be until 10 or 11 a.m.

I'm just assuming you want to loot their bodies and will post the list of what y'all get so you can divvy it up along with everything else.

Mutation fighter is a powerful archetype, especially if you invest some levels into it. It's pretty much the only way for a naked single-classed fighter to fly by himself.

Can't remember if we've discussed it before: how do y'all want to handle loot?

I often play as follows:
- Add up the GP (sale) value of the items (so magic items count at half)
- Divide the cash value evenly between all players
- Let players pick items to keep (at sale value) as part of their share

Happy to do that, or happy to discuss other options.

Also, anyone want to maintain a loot tracker? Here's one I maintain for a Rise of the Runelords that Thron runs. I'd be happy to copy this one and co-own it with one or more folks, if anyone's interested (or equally happy to have someone else just handle it in their own way).

Of course Clara will help to train Kurrie in the Art of the Mutagen.

Heck, I have the Visionary Researcher archetype so I can start handing out my mutagen as a buff to folks (though with only half the usual value). That could be the beginnings of it, until the mutagen kicks in at L3.

My next discovery will also probably be Infusion, so I can share buffs around. Speaking of which, any requests for 1st or 2nd level alchemist spells you'd like to get as infusions?

I'll work on leveling up soon. Playing with a range of ideas.

I actually don't like dividing up loot like that. I find that it causes more disagreements and confusion than it solves. Of course, I'm the GM and it's your loot, but I thought I'd mention that. A game of mine before went through much strife over loot.

You know, "but you have to 'sell' the item that you already have in order to get that awesome weapon you want that just dropped".

If it makes you guys more comfortable to have rules, that's fine. And I'm totally okay with a loot tracker so that we can keep track of how much and what everyone has. I also still want you guys to keep your character sheets up-to-date, though.

As for extracts... You're probably going to need endure elements more often than not for Chapter 3. Cold weather clothes will help a lot (to the tune of +5 on your Fortitude saves against cold weather) but the spell just completely ignores the weather.

Both Koya and Shalelu can cast it, as well.

Kurasaviel - are you taking Combat Reflexes or Dazzling Display? Your profile and level post show differently.

Calder - remember to update the rest of your profile - your BAB, CMB, CMD and your attack bonuses listed are still behind. Maybe remember to add a line for the unarmed strike attack you can freely use now.

I've always played it that folks are welcome to use whatever they want from the recent loot even if they can't 'pay' for it immediately. Often by the time we've reached a good place to sell it, the pile is big enough that they can afford it...and if someone can't afford the cost of it yet, we've typically just spotted them the difference and let them owe the party (or a particular party member who's trying to save up for something anyway).

Ehhh. I don't know, I haven't found a method yet that always works.

In my F2F games, we just kinda write everything up on the board and talk about who gets what for like 20 minutes.

I kinda feel like disagreements about who gets what item should be resolved in-character, or by luck.

Most of what I don't like is the forced split so that everyone has the same amount of loot. Sure, it's theoretically balanced, but some people need loot more than others. Some loot sees way more use on one character than another, and we're all on the same team.

My general guideline for loot is "don't be a dick." I don't worry so much about even splits, just speak up if you want something. If two people want the same thing the group decides who would benefit from/needs it more.

So everyone except Tallak's all leveled up - let's deal with loot!

Kurasaviel expressed interest in the ring of protection +1 and some cash - we'll deal with cash after we split sold loot.

Calder wants the belt of giant strength +2

That leaves bracers of armor, a magic spear, chainmail, shield, a few scrolls and a couple of potions, along with some nice mundane stuff. Does anybody else want to claim anything, or does this all go into the sell pile and turned into cash? I'll wait for Tallak before I move it over.

Actually, I have a system proposal: Claiming and taking items is always allowed, and then when everything else gets turned into gold, you only get gold if the amount of gold everyone gets is more than the value of the item you grabbed. That way, you are guaranteed to get $$$ if you claim nothing, and you get more gold if people grab expensive items since the gold's divided up among fewer people.

This has the potential of giving some people way more gold than others, but I think people who claim items most of the time will just not be getting gold.
