You can bring him with you if you want (and this is what I assume unless you decide something else) but he won't be allowed inside of any buildings.

Speaking of Ursus, some of his things appear to have been miscalculated. He doesn't have Light Armor Proficiency, so I'm unsure how he has Medium. His AC is listed as 34 but the bonuses you have total up to 25... and I'm not sure where that Dodge bonus comes from. Also his Dex bonus is listed as +5... and his Dex is obviously only 14.

With a chain shirt (The highest-AC light armor) Ursus' AC should be 20 (+4 armor, +2 Dex, +4 natural).

I don't know why his claws and bite bonuses are different, because you don't have Weapon Focus in either, and the attack bonuses for each should only be +8 (3 BAB, 5 STR). His CMB should only be +8 as well. You have it listed as +15. His CMD likewise should only be 20. He doesn't have the "grab" feature either, so he doesn't have a bonus to grappling.

If you have some thing that somehow gives you like +10 to everything, you should let me know.

How seriously do Ulfen take marriage in your mind, Leinathan? The following passage from the pathfinder wiki leads me to think it as rather "relaxed."

"The Ulfen people have been renowned for their abilities as raiders, and many people living along the western coast of Avistan carry a little Ulfen blood in them. Ulfen raiders began raiding even as far south as the western coast of Garund as early as 1218 AR,[10] and heavily raided the western coast of Cheliax in 1975 AR.[11]"

The section bolded is what I am going on as I didn't find anything else on a quick search. I am willing to bet not every Ulfen raider is unmarried. Trying to determine where Tallak's moral compass would reside on the issue. Based on that passage, I'm thinking that it is likely along the lines of, "If you are home, you are faithful to your wife. If on a long-term raid/quest, it isn't something to feel guilty over."

Huh. That was briefer than expected.

Going by the fact that I didn't even get to roll any 'gather info' or 'improve attitude', the Hall is a dead end? That's rather surprising - I didn't expect it to be completely disconnected from city authorities, city underground and street rumour mill all at once. Figured at the very least I'll be able to get a list of Kalsgard's powers that be, both official and not, as well as latest news of note.

Also, how much GP have I earned? It's not much, but every bit towards those resistance and charisma items counts

I mean, usually you get to choose whether to roll active skills or not. There's just specific people/sources that you have to go to in order to find information relevant to the campaign/your goals. Prostitutes aren't one.

I figured you wouldn't care that much about learning about say... the city's King or like... which of the rich dudes the girls have just went out of business or whatever.

You got 75GP from your bet with Goti, and 100GP from your night of selling yourself.

Plus, i mean. The Hall is actually the fanciest, ritziest place in town. The kinds of people who work there aren't exactly criminals/rogues/underground types. They're wealthy, fancy, refined ladies.

I did not expect them to be underground types themselves, but I did expect them to be well-informed, given that their business runs on having the best possible relationship with the clientele, which in turn likely includes many wealthy and/or powerful people with all kinds of backgrounds. It's a bit hard to imagine something that sensitive being run on impersonal basis.

The idea was to get overview and directions to pursue. Powerful factions like those Rimerunners, important people, latest scandals, etc. Stuff that particularly interests me is people that plan to cross the Crown (those guys that booked all the guides), Asvig's (or Rimerunners') enemies or rivals, and anything on Fynn and the blade theft.

Oh well, suppose I'll have to do all the legwork from the ground up.

You did, however, say that you were going there expressly for the purpose of finding a free place to spend the night. Not only that, but relevant information had already been found inside the Hall. Specifically, that Asvig is cheating on his wife and that she is a witch.

If you want info you have to tell me what info you're looking for, you gotta tell me how you're looking and you gotta roll Gather Info. Ideally. If you do two and forget the third, I can kind of fill in the third for you.

Then we have a misunderstanding, it seems. I did not include anything on information gathering because it's in poor taste to post conditional actions without knowing for sure whether the prerequisite will happen as planned. So the idea was to secure lodgings, then make a separate post about talking to the staff, which, depending on available information, would've included either 'gather info' from all of them or 'improve attitude' of someone specific.

Since you cut it off with end of the day post, I assumed there was nothing whatsoever to be learned no matter how well I do, making further posts about it moot. Hence my surprise.

And information gathering, which I did mention. In fact, that Belende was able to immediately tell something relevant off the top of her head once questioned was a major reason why I chose to approach her - if she shares that much outright, surely she has more interesting stuff to tell to people she likes and knows better?

I'd rather not mess up the post continuity, especially since I can't write fully IC due to lacking feedback about how the evening actually went. As in, details of when, how and whom I asked actually depend on when I had time to, whom I met and how well we got along. So, if you don't mind, I'll post here.

Topics that interest me are local powers that be (in particular Rimerunners and their most immediate rivals), local magic users of note (in particular, Helva) and people or groups in Kalsgard that plan to cross the Crown this season. If possible, with parts in the brackets being brought up by steering conversation there instead of asking outright.

Not sure about time - 1d4 includes going between places and looking for people to talk to which isn't the case here. If something doesn't fit timewise, just ignore it.

Alright Irissa, here's some stuff for you to chew on:

The leader of the city is Svienn Blood-Eagle. He is the most powerful and the oldest of all of the Linnorm Kings, though he also is somewhat tired of his role. Thus, the rule of law in Kalsgard is relatively relaxed.

The Rimerunners Guild is a large and powerful guild of merchants. They have no rivals. When it comes to employment, they've cornered the market wherever they go, and any who try to compete with them either disappear or quit quickly. There are, of course, many other businesses in Kalsgard. Even other guilds of merchants, and other guilds of traders. The Rimerunners just seems to be the richest and most powerful of them, able to do whatever they want.

Kalsgard, being a relatively large city, has access to sixth-circle spells. Svienn's greatest advisor is a powerful dwarven eldritch knight, and one of the city's most powerful residents is the High Skald, a powerful bard. Helva is known to be a witch of some moderate strength. She mostly uses her magic to make her life easier, charming waiters and making herself invisible when it's convenient.

Well, it is as I've said. I want to minimize the odds of us being scried or spied on, then establish whether Helva is a foe or neutral in this (potentially acquiring her aid if the latter), and finally establish our odds of ambushing and taking out Goti and Helva (if needed) without getting dogpiled by city watch or Rimerunners' troops.

Right now I don't see a reliable way of blitzing Asvig without undue consequence, so starting by eliminating powerful assets from his side is as good a move as any. Plus, spellcasters tend to have shinies and be in the know.

Yep, as well as any windows of opportunity when they might be relatively vulnerable.

I'm not counting on finding a single well-meaning benefactor who'd hand me all the answers on a silver platter, obviously, but having a direction to follow so that I can talk to a few specific people instead of rolling multiple consecutive d4s would save me a lot of time.

Also Matin - a cursory look at your character sheet revealed that your Cha-based skills appear one point too low. With four ranks, your bonus should be +9. Actually, please double check all of your skills. There seem to have been a couple of basic addition mistakes.
