"I guess that just leaves the gnome Fimbrik. Do we have his address, or is it a visit to the Arcanamirium in order?"

![]() |

Can anyone identify the coin with spellcraft?
An address for Fimbrik was provided. His residence is in the Wise Quarter, near the Arcanamirium.
A brick step leads to Fimbrik’s front entrance. The lock and handle are rusty. There are windows in each of the four rounded corners.
The big window you're all gathered in front of is being used as a door for these purposes.

Tavagra, whom had stayed quiet for most of their journey, wanders to the side of the building to investigate. She peers through the window trying to see if there was any activity.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Wailan identifies the coin as a Pathfinder's Coin, designed to resemble Azlanti currency. When placed atop a wayfinder, the coin spins in the air and delivers a message of 25 words or less. Once the message is triggered, it is expended, and a new one may be recorded.
Grimn, you can have asked along the way. Feel free to roll.
Tavagra sees a large bedroom dominated by a sizeable canopied bed. The room is empty, but for the middle of the day this unsurprising.
S'theno, going around the other way, sees a study, with walls covered in tome-laden bookshelves. A colorful gnome with a green bowler hat sits in an overstuffed chair, reading.
Nobody answers Shallya's knock, and the door is indeed locked.

![]() |

"Indeed I do. Curious that the old chap hasn't noticed us. Perhaps he's deep in his studies. Strange that the lock is rusted..."
S'theno taps on the glass with a clawed finger.

![]() |

Shallya carefully hides what he is doing as he fumbles at the door knob.
bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Assuming the 20 is enough :
"Oh look, the door is unlocked."
Shallya then opens the door and again calls out?
"Hello? Your door was open. We just wanted to talk to you and make sure everything is OK"

![]() |

S'theno heads around to the front.
"Gents, I think we're on the receiving end of some Gnomish trickery. After you."
He motions to the doorway.

![]() |

Varg leans into the front door without actually entering yet.
"HEL-LO!!!" he calls. "Mis-ter... Gnome? ... We come in now. ... O-K?"
Hearing no response, he carefully enters through the doorway.

![]() |

4d8 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 3) = 17
As soon as Varg steps inside, there's a puff of smoke, and three particularly nasty looking beetles appear. Knowledge Nature and Planes are both appropriate here
Varg: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Tavagra: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Wailan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Shallya: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Stheno: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Grimn: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
R: 1d20 ⇒ 20
G: 1d20 ⇒ 19
B: 1d20 ⇒ 2

"Surely, he won't mind us just checking up on him."
Wailan 5-steps back, draws his longspear, and summons armor to protect Calcifer.
"But, just in case..."

![]() |

"Gents, why don't we wait a few moments and see if those pests don't disappear just as quickly as they appeared, hm? Perhaps we can get in another way. Besides, I think our host may have left the premises quite a long time ago, and we may be dealing with the magical countermeasures he left to deter intruders."

![]() |

"No time for games of Gnome's," Tavagra pulls out her mace again and moves behind S'theno,"Time to make an entrance. Lets make our own entrance."[/b]
Bust through the window like an action star on next turn. Not sure on the mechanics of how to do it however.

![]() |

I believe the best way to rule it is a standard to break window (damage-wise you can't fail, and I'm going to say you don't have to worry about missing the stationary object. Move to get in (getting through the window we'll call 10 feet of movement).
The gnome doesn't seem to have noticed the commotion, fixated on his book.

![]() |

Shallya turns to Varg:
"Varg, it really looks like something is wrong here. Gnomes use illusions a lot and its very strange that he hasn't reacted. We're well within our rights to investigate as long as we don't damage anything "
This speech is interrupted by the crash as Tavagra smashes his way inside the window
"Or pay for any damages that we cause if it turns out that he was NOT in any danger."
Shallya mostly believes that. He doesn't think it is WRONG, doesn't really know or care if it is legal. I think that makes it a diplomacy check. If you disagree and think it is a bluff check the result is 2 higher
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Yells at Tavagra
"You do realize that we have to pay for that, right?"
bluff to pass a secret message to Tavagra that he isn't at all serious about paying: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
I REALLY have to learn to take 10 a lot more. Roll20 hates me

![]() |

"Did you even check if these bugs were real? For all we know, Varg, they are just another of his illusions."

![]() |

"Who said I was paying," Tavagra says before slamming through the window.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Her action wasn't that glorious, but still was kind of cool even if she hadn't done a roll on the landing. Instead, flopping on the ground with a thud and scrambling to get up quickly.

![]() |

I guess I'll do the retroactive diplomacy throw even though its probably rather pointless by now xD
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Grimn steps back and tries to squash beetle with long hammer.
Long Hammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 1) + 3 = 10
Edit: Wait, is there space to five foot step to use reach weapon? Eh, whatever, I miss anyway

![]() |

In that case I just do the same with opening the door replacing five foot step <_< They are beetles. Not like they are going to open the door first

![]() |

I think the point of closing the door was so that we would not fight them. If they're summoned, they'll just go away after a while.

![]() |

..Then why are we breaking the windows and going through them?..(paladin and Arcanirium's office don't approve :P) That doesn't sound like waiting. Also they are beetles

![]() |

Grimn signs and walks to the broken window so he can hear the conversation inside. He doesn't go through the window.
"Err, Sorry about the window" he says to the gnome

![]() |

Wailan moves over and politely nudges the gnome.
"Esteemed colleague, apologies for the intrusion, but we are intent on finding information about a woman named Eylysia. You were a friend of hers, were you not?"
