"Damn, I had some fire for them bastards. Would've loved to roast them winged rats. Off to then t the Lodge I suppose."

![]() |

Wait, just because I'm little confused. Did we actually find the wine? Wasn't the bottle just a switch?
"Yeah, might as well report to Dreng and go to the wall at same time."

Created in 4330 AR, the Wall of Names resides on the grounds of the Grand Lodge in Absalom. The monument is a curving wall of black glass that stands atop a small hill at the western edge of the lodge’s grounds. Trees surround the hill, providing ample shade and privacy for those visiting the wall to remember fallen comrades.
Carved into the wall are the name and date of death of every Pathfinder killed in the course of duty since the wall’s construction, and most entries also include a sentence or two summarizing either the agent’s greatest accomplishments or how she died.
What would you like to do here?

![]() |

Is the wall sorted chronologically? We'd probably want to try and find the names mentioned in those notes, and see what the wall has to say about them, along with others from around the same time period.

S'theno taps his chin and looks up the names of Eylysia, then the 3 supposedly added by her:
- Doulgongir Caskmail
- Hollis 'Evil Grin' Thorne
- Karina Clamp
In addition, he'll look up Selmius Foster and Adolphus to see if there are any notes regarding their deaths.

![]() |

As the wall was built in honor of Selmius, one of the Founders of the PFS, I'd imagine these are near the beginning?

The list is roughly chronological, but sometimes pathfinders go MIA or such and death can take some time to confirm. Not to mention the effects that certain recent events can have on chronology.
After some searching, you find the three names.
Doulgonlir Caskmail
Deceased 4332 AR
Travelled to distant Jalmeray.
Failed to maintain the necessary Sixteen Poses.
Hollis "Evil Grin" Thorne
Deceased 4331 AR
Administered to the mind-menders of Ustalav.
May they overcome the Screaming Fear.
Karina Clamp
Deceased 4330 AR
Survived the horrors of Nemret Noktoria.
Returned to rot from the inside.
These brief biographies may jog your memory. History, Local, or Religion would be good checks to make here.

"A most excellent idea, Varg. Also, as they were Pathfinders, after all, we might be able to ask around a bit. Perhaps Janira Gavix or one of the Masters might know something about them...
There seems to have been something quite rotten going on, however. The question that remains, I suppose is: 'Is this feud long dead, or does it or will it have any repercussions if brought to light today?'
We may, for the sake of delicacy, want to tread lightly in this matter..."

![]() |

"Well, I'm interested in this stonemason fellow. Let's go see what clues he took to his grave. After that, we can hit up the library to find what we don't understand."

1d4 ⇒ 1
You head off across the city to the necropolis indicated in Selmius' notes.
The cemetery is well maintained, and surrounded by a tall wrought iron fence, though the gates are open. A number of standing mausoleums are arranged in orderly rows.
As you enter the grounds to begin searching for the tomb in question, an armored man with a mace strapped to his side approaches from the far side of the grounds. His cloak is secured by a clasp shaped like a pentagram.
"Well, well, well. What business do we have here?" he calls as he approaches.

![]() |

"Just here to pay our respects to a fallen comrade."
S'theno fixes his attention on the man, invoking his
Hypnotic Stare ability.

Does Shallya recognize the holy symbol? I figure its common enough that hopefully a 10 will be enough
Untrained Knowledge Relgion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Guessing not :-(
"I assure you, we just want to see his tomb. We're doing nothing wrong"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
I am actually telling the truth for once, hence it being diplomacy and not bluff :-). It would have been 2 higher if I was lying :-)

![]() |

...Okay, missed my religion check earlier, so I do it now. Stupid school life
Religion on the epithets: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Whether check succeeds or not, Grimn is deep in thought because for whole walk to cemetery he was thinking about those epithets. When the man approaches he absentmindedly responds "Oh hello"

![]() |

Shallya, yeah it is DC 10.
Grimn Holy Symbol: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Wailan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Stheno: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Tavagra: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Varg: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
S'theno, Tavagra, and Varg all recognize his symbol as one of Asmodeus. The man smirks as he responds to Shallya and S'theno
"That's [i[so[/i] sweet of you, to visit your dear friend. He's only been dead three hundred and fifty years now. I'd be happy to let you in, though of course I'll need to observe. The faithful pay handsomely to ensure nothing untoward happens to their remains."
He brings you to the proper mausoleum, sliding the heavy stone door open. The small room is bare except for an unadorned stone sarcophagus.

S'theno waits outside with the guard.
"Bit tight in there. You lot go ahead."
He fills and lights a pipe, and takes a thoughtful drag.
While his hands and mouth are occupied, he creates a Ghost Sound
of hushed bickering coming from a nearby tomb, then pottery breaking, and hurried footsteps heading away.

![]() |

Tavagra stands at the door, looking in. She held a hand to her weapon on her hip as she looked around the graveyard.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

![]() |

Wailans paces around the small room, then eyeing the sarcophagus steps outside to summon Calcifer.

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Hmm...I'll have to take a look at that. And I can handle myself, thank you very much. Why don't you go find some finger paints?" Assuming Varg has some sort of visible holy symbol or other Shelynite iconography.
He steps outside to investigate, leaving you enough time to pry the casket open. All that remains of the body is a brittle skeleton, though a gold coin can be seen lying on the floor of the casket. The face is worn, and none of you can read the inscription on it.
Appraise or Knowledge History would be appropriate here.

![]() |

Yes, Varg has a silver holy symbol of Shelyn.
No, Varg doesn't have any useful skills. Just diplomacy and craft: wood carving. The down side of dumping int, especially on a class that doesn't get many skill ranks anyway.
Varg casts Detect Magic, starting with the direction of the body and coin, but then around the whole room.

![]() |

S'theno casually follows the guard towards the sound, still fixing his eyes on him.
"Vermin come in all kinds, human and otherwise. To stoop so low as to rob the dead... no respect for law and order..."
He drones on about property, propriety and the need for a disciplined society...

![]() |

Varg does detect faint divination from the coin. Shallya suspects that the coin is a replica of an ancient coin.
Meanwhile, outside, Durward begins to grow frustrated with his search, and turns to go back.
"Must have been kids from the school at the end of the block. Next time I catch them around here... he toys with the mace at his side as he speaks.
