Silver Crusade

Seri's rapier scrapes harmlessly against the creature's shell.

Seri:
It's not going to matter here, but my understanding of Parry/Riposte was that the riposte requires a separate attack roll from the parry.

Ray gets a brief flash of insight, as a previously unknown word flashes into his mind. Ghelarn. The shell it inhabits grants protection from many fire-based attacks, but is susceptible to sonic damage. Its sticky secretions allow it to entrap prey and more easily digest them. They can gorge themselves and then lie dormant for incredible periods of time.

His weapon cuts into the creature's purple flesh, sending blue fluid splattering everywhere.

The creature retaliates against Ray, slamming one of its larger appendages into him, before scuttling further back into the goopy area.

Another vicious tentacle lashes out at Vaughn, though he survives to jab his dagger into one of the holes in its shell. He also manages to avoid getting bogged down by the sticky sand.

Doctor N's shot causes cracks to spread across its shell, and it fails to notice Vivilaas' attempt to give it a tip.

Seri is up with a regular round action, followed by Ray.

Vivilaas catches her breath as she looks around in awe at the vast expanse. "All of this, its massive! There's a whole desert down below..."

She looks in awe for a few moments before Vaughn's grunts cause her to turn back. "Oh, but he's a mess. And Ray, you're damaged! Do you need healing? Does normal healing work on you? Sorry, was that too much prying? I just meant..." she shuts up sheepishly and turns back to the expanse before them.

So many things down here. I could spend a lifetime recording this. But... The samsaran gives out a barely perceptible sigh. "I think maybe we should head back. Whatever's down here is far larger than anyone expected and after this and those damn gremlins I fear we may be...unprepared for certain things to come. On top of that, I'm afraid I've lost track of how much longer our water breathing is going to last"

"Of course I'm only one vote. And regardless," she calls out as she goes to examine the nearby patch of bones. "We should cut open whatever that creature was to make sure it didn't succeed at making a meal out of one of the earlier parties."

Assuming you take a couple rounds to heal up and such. Feel free to retroactively do anything else in the ~4-6 rounds before Viv approaches the bones.

Vivilaas walks over to the bones. It seems to be a humanoid skeleton, though more bones are in the pile than you'd expect from a human corpse. The skull is elongated, sweeping back into some sort of crest.

More importantly, the bones are also rapidly assembling as she approaches. The skull's eyes ignite with green energy. As it stands, it's clear that these creatures have four arms, each ending in a clawed hand. The sound of clattering bones echoing across the darkened cavern indicates it's not the only one.

Knowledge Religion for Skeletons. An extremely high local check might know the species that it comes from.

Doctor N and Vivilaas both pick up on this animation faster than the others, and have a moment to react.

    The closest skeleton collapses, the green light extinguishing, before suddenly reappearing in the eyes of the next closest skeleton to approach. Now that you can see them in action, they seem to resemble the four-armed creatures from the drawings in the cave.

    Viv knows skeletons are harmed most effectively with bludgeoning weapons, and that cold, mind-affecting, and similar spells will be ineffective. You know everything you'd know out of character about skeletons.

    HERE!! Vaughn tosses Seri one of his hammers. Knowing it's not the best weapon, but it's probably better than nothing, he draws a dagger in his now free hand. He glances back to Ray. RAY!! you got yours, or do you need help?? Fall back to us so we can stick together!

    The warrior then shifts over, trying to maneuver closer to Seri so maybe they can work on a flank.

    Back at the end of the last fight, I got dropped to 0 hp. I called out for someone to use my wand! but it appears that no one did. So, unless the DM agrees to retcon a use of a wand before the skeles came out, i would have been staggered to begin this fight...
