Will vs Fear: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Frankie's eyes go wide inside the crevice, the his ioun torch shedding eerie light across his face as SOMETHING lands on the back of his head. "Eeeeek!" He screams as he pulls his head out of the hole as fast as possible, swatting at whatever it was and rushing towards the others trying to put on a cool face when he arrives, still shaking a bit from the learning experience.
"Is it gone? Get it off my head!" He scratches and shakes his head vigorously.

"Huh? What?" Meredith looks startled as the creature moans and freaked out Frankie rushes in. "Whoa, calm down, Frankie. What happened?"
She looks up to the creature. "Man, that's cruel. Everyone keep a look out, this must be their feeding chamber."

Lazarus directs his dancing lights to enter the chamber ahead of them to illuminate the unholy scene.

Denair climbs 10 feet above Meredith and stares. "So, what do we do? Is he healthy enough to leave? Maybe we'll let him go in exchange for leaving the leshies alone?"

Frankie looks up at Meredith "I dunno, something fell in my hair, a creepy crawlie!" He scratches at his head again before getting a sad, distracted look on his face at the hanging 'meat' in the room.
"We need to let him go! This isn't right at all!" Frankie is very adamant about freeing this thing, especially after Lazarus translates. "Cut it down Denair!" He pleads.

"Mmh...no more hurt, no more eat...does that mean that if we don't hurt him, he won't eat us? Or is he just asking us to leave him go? Damn, I never expected my first field assignment to involve speaking plants and...what is this thing by the way?," Saeran whispers to Brayden and Lazarus, who are close to him. His hand reaches for his weapon, but he still does not draw it.

Brayden moves ahead with Meredith and Denair, and looks at the creature with concern. "I've no idea, Sǣran. Empress of Heaven, protect us. This is both wretched and awful. I agree with the child, we should let the poor thing down. It's clearly endured enough suffering. "
He draws his katana and looks at the chains menacingly. "Shall I?"

Saeran would have preferred to bring the creature down in the literal sense, but for the moment he waits and allows his companions to try their plan.
"I am ready when you are...," he says, his eyes focused on the target.

While Frankie shrieks and does a little dance to get his new creepy-crawly friend out of his hair, Meredith, Denair, Brayden, Lazarus, and the Unseen Servant press on down the stone hallway. More of the room ahead is revealed by way of the Light stone and now everyone can clearly see the large, unfortunate creature hanging upside down over the old stone altar. Its eyes roll madly in its head and a thin sheen of sweat glistens on its mottled green skin. To your horror, you can see that the creature - whom Lazarus is now certain is a troll - is missing an arm and its abdomen has been sliced open. Blood covers the floor and heaps of oozing entrails are slowly slithering back into the troll's body. It thrashes again, weakly, uttering another moan of pain and anguish.
While not exactly difficult terrain, the blood and entrails covering the floor DO make it more challenging to run or charge in this area; any attempt to do either will require a DC 10 Acrobatics check.
In addition to the troll, the group can now see that the walls of this strange chamber are also covered in reliefs. These reliefs depict scenes of Aroden on Golarion, particularly a lesser miracle performed at Westcrown, in which he transformed and revitalized a garden of roses. While there's little left in the way of distinguishing characteristics regarding the altar itself, Lazarus can surmise from the reliefs on the walls that the altar was likely once an altar to Aroden as well. Combined with the presence of the mummified bodies in the niches in the hallway, which thankfully seem very much dead, it seems likely that this entire underground complex was probably once used as the preparation and burial chamber for members of House Davian.
Even with the troll proving itself to be the current center of attention, you spot something else. Two different sets of glittering eyes peering out from fissures in the walls of this chamber; one set from the western wall and the other from the northeast corner.

Okay, so I've got Denair starting to crawl across the ceiling towards the chain and Brayden offering to try and break the chain with his katana. Tell me who's doing what and if you're going to hack at the chain, I'll need an attack roll :)

Once Denair enters the shrine, the samsaran follows. He sends his dancing lights around the chamber, lingering over the mummies and the crevices in the walls.

He pauses to regard the many murals on the walls. "Ah, a depiction of a lesser miracle performed at Westcrown, in which he transformed and revitalized a garden of roses. Beautiful. I would very much like to do what I can to restore this place."

She freezes and points to the northeast and western sides. "Look out, everyone- someone is over there- and over there!"

"Good luck with that. I doubt th' queen'll be givin' ya any medals for your efforts," Dalen grumbles as she keeps her eyes looking about for the ghouls.

Meredith frowns as the Unseen Servant lights up the troll. "Wow. We gotta cut you down from there." She advances with her longspear ready. "Denair, you see anything?"
When Denair gives a heads up, Meredith realizes she's in trouble. "Mother Nature, protect me from assault!" A magical Shield forms in front her, composed of translucent leaves.
"Come on, we know you're out there!"

Brayden is about to attempt a solid hack at the chain, but stops when warned of actual threats nearby. "Show yourselves, fiends!" He calls. "Did you do this to this creature? Has this now become some sort of sacrificial altar?" He yells at the fissures, hoping to lure out the skulks.

As soon as Denair gives the alarm, Saeran starts to look around frantically. Not knowing what to do without sensing any danger, the half-elf decides to risk it and infuses his left arm with arcane energy as a crackling aura of lightning suffuses his limb. He holds the charge, for the moment, his brow furrowed in worried wait. "Whoever you are, show yourself! We are ready for you!"

As the group begins inching their way inside the chamber of horror, Denair raises the alarm as she spots...something...somethings...watching them. For one long, agonizing moment, a dreadful silence hangs in the air after several of you call for the hidden ones to show themselves...and then a low, hissing voice emanates from the northeast corner.
"Shhhhhould not have come here, houndssss of Thrune..."
From the fissure in the corner, a humanoid creature with long, sharp teeth and pallid flesh stretched tightly over a thin, starved frame emerges. Another such creature emerges from the fissure on the western wall of the chamber. Their large yellow eyes flare with madness...and hunger.
"Come to ffffinishhhh what you began? Fffffinishhhh Houssssse Davian for good?" the larger of the two figures hisses menacingly. "All you've done is sssssealed your doom!"

"Ah, there they are! Stay back, Frankie, I do not think these things can be persuaded with cocoa." Brayden moves ahead and raises his blade up, blessing it with Shizuru's grace. The katana glows with a brilliant yellow light as it's empowered.
Use Holy Strike blessing to gain +1d6 damage against evil targets for 1 minute. It's also treated as a good-aligned weapon for the purposes of overcoming DR.

Sorry for keeping you waiting guys, this is a crazily hectic part of my life...
Saeran darts toward the creature in the northeast corner of the room and swings his sword at it with both strenght and finesse. He is holding his sword, a bastard sword, with only one hand, while the other still holds the charge of his previously cast spell.

Frankie's eyes go wide at the sudden and graphic violence in front of him. A spray of Saeran's blood scatters across his face Oh crap! I remember... The innocent look on his face changes, a hardened look of determination crosses it. "Oh no you don't!" He growls as he tumbles out of the corner and into an opening in front of the Red creature. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
A mithril dagger pops into his hand from up his sleeve and he cautiously swipes at its knee cap, hoping to distract it for Brayden, but he keeps both eyes on the undead thing and swipes uselessly.

I don't think I need the acrobatics due to the hard corner but I rolled it to be safe since I had plenty of movement anyhow. AC is 23 this round and I failed the aid attempt.

There are times I hate being right, Dalen silent grouses as the ghouls emerge. As Saeren falls, an odd change comes over the young woman, her eyes grow hard and a humorless, merciless smile spreads on her face.
"What makes ya think Thrune 'ad t' send me to end you?" As she steps over the fallen elf, Dalen flourishes her sword about, once, twice.
Attack vs. Red (Favored Enemy, 2-hands): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 2 = 26 aw yiss
Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 aw man...that would have been awesome...

Dalen's sword stabs out in a flash of steel. It almost manages to hit something vital, but the best Dalen manages is to pin it for a moment through a useless lung.
"Dalen Stonestep at your displeasure. I learned t' fight cuttin' up plodders like yourself," She says before twisting the hilt of her sword, her smile becoming even more predatory. "An' I 'ate dead that ain't, so best be prayin' for a swift end, aye?"
With that, Dalen steps back and rips her sword free, still grinning like a wolf on the scent of injured game.

Meredith wants to wave Frankie back, but he's already awash with blood. She felt pity for the creatures, but now she's just angry.
"Denair, the other one!" Meredith moves up, draws her longspear and enchants it with a bit of magic. "We ain't House Thrune, but you've got to go."
Meredith readies an action to impale the other undead creature if it should come too close.

Enraged by the ghoul's - for that is indeed what they are - brutal attack against Saeran, the rest of the group springs into action. In one fluid motion Frankie does a tuck-and-roll around Saeran's still form and springs to his feet next to Brayden, dagger in hand as he attempts to distract the creature from his next target.
Dalen boldly and coldly steps forward, standing over Saeran as she slices into the ghoul's belly with her sword! Black ichor splatters the ground, mingling with Saeraen's blood...but the ghoul does not fall.
Thinking quickly, Lazarus recalls that ghouls are feared due to both their diseased bite and the paralytic effect that their teeth and claws often have on their victims. (Paralysis - DC 13 Fort and Disease - also a DC 13 Fort save.) He then steps forward and channels healing energy into his palm as he reaches down to touch his fallen companion. The bleeding stops and color swiftly returns to Saeran's cheeks as the worst of his wounds mend and disappear!
Hoping to keep the second ghoul out of the fray, Meredith readies her longspear and moves forward to join Denair, ready to strike should it approach. And approach it does, uttering a mad, gibbering shriek as it streaks towards Meredith! Ready, both Denair and Meredith strike at the creature - Denair's blow misses but Meredith's longspear does rip a large hole in the ghoul's side as it approaches, but does not finish it. The ghoul's teeth snap viciously at the summoner...
Yellow vs. Meredith (Bite): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
...but miss!
The troll, still hanging upside down, seems to go into a frenzy as violence erupts around it. It thrashes madly against it's bonds, head twisting this way and that as it tries to see what's going on. As its eyes settle on Yellow, they flash with fury as the troll snaps at the ghoul with sharp teeth!

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Yellow shrieks as the Troll's teeth sink deeply into it's arm, very nearly ripping it off entirely! But it manages to remain standing, somehow.
"Not Housssse Thrune?" the leader ghoul replies, eyes glittering with malevolence. "Well, no matter...I, Arenzo Davian, fear nothing. Not assss I am now..."
And as you watch, some of Arenzo's wounds begin to mend of their own volition...

Brayden turns and looks at the troll with an amazed, wide smile on his face. "Sir Troll, even in your state, you are quite the ally!"
He turns back to the ghoul. "You, however, need to die. Or undie? Whatever you'd like to call it." He bends his hips and puts the strength of his legs into his swing, Shizuru's grace empowering the attack.
Katana, holy strike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (4) = 9
Yet his aim fails him, and Brayden nearly cuts off Frankie's chocolate-coated digits instead.

Saeran is stable, but still unconscious. The last image impressed on his mind is that of a raging ghoul tearing him apart. Not a great start for an aspiring Pathfinder! A mix of confused feeling flow into the half-elf's mind: the shame for falling after the first hit, the feeling of danger, the sensation of his life fading away...

Hoping to finish what the others had started, Brayden tries to bring his katana down on Arenzo but instead nearly slices poor, helpful Frankie's fingers off for his trouble! Denair scuttles up the wall and around Yellow, who takes advantage of the eidolon's lowered guard to swipe with yellowed, hooked claws...

...and misses again, slipping and staggering in a pool of its own ichor and pus! Denair maneuvers around behind the ghoul and attempts to bring it down with a well-placed bash to the skull, but it just manages to duck under the blow.
Meanwhile, Saeran's eyes snap open to see both unfamiliar ceiling and Dalen standing over him, squaring off against the ghoul that had felled him....

Feeling a wave of positive energy flowing through his body, Saeran eventually comes back to his senses and tries to rationalize the situation. Shaking his head in disapproval toward himself, the half-elf immediately remebers what happened and what caused him to fall to the ground. He watches to his left arm, the arcane energy long gone, and smirks unpleasantly.
What to do?
Saeran occupies a dangerous position, and Dalen in above him. Considering his current status, the half-elf decides to try and attack the ghoul who knocked him down while still prone.

Saeran decides to play it safe and stays down on the ground, slashing viciously at Arenzo's ankles but to no avail. The ghoul, despite being literally backed into a corner, seems fearless as he slashes and bites at his attackers!

No plan survives contact with the enemy. Sǣran read those word countless times, and heard them even more often, and although usually agreeing with them, his agreement was lacking a direct, first-hand experience. Now he has it. Prone, with another Pathfinder above him and a ghoul at a few feet of distance, in the heat of the battle and with no simple choice, Sǣran understands why a tactical mind is not simply a keen intellect well versed in theorizing about war. It takes some exercise and a good measure of cold blood to reason tactically while in combat, and Sǣran does not have this gift, at least not yet.
The only way in which I can be useful to my group is to draw the ghoul's attention and take one hit for them...
Putting his arms over his head in a protective way (total defense: +4 dodge bonus to AC for 1 round), Sǣran tries to crawl away from the undead (provoking an attack of opportunity).
Sǣran's AC for this round is 15: +4 for total defense and -4 for being prone.

Ghoul Will (DC 11): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Lazarus raises his holy symbol and sends a burst of positive energy washing over the two ghouls; Arenzo hisses as his skin sizzles and burns but largely seems to weather the worst of it. His companion is not so fortunate, however, as the other ghoul seems to almost melt under the burst, skin and viscera sloughing away from the bones underneath. With an agonized howl, the ghoul collapses - unmoving and still!
Meredith, since Yellow is dead before you can act I'll let you retcon your actions this round.
Sensing by Saeran's posture that the half-elf intends to try making a crawling break for it, Frankie maintains a defensive posture as he offers one, two, three, distracting thrusts with his dagger, distracting Arenzo from his prone companion.
Saeran, you will start crawling away next round but Frankie's help will kick in now so you'll still have that +2 to your AC when you start moving.
"Ssssince you and your friendssss are sssso eager to tassste death I will indulge your quesssstionssss, child! I had hoped that my family'ssss flesssh would ssssusssstain me long enough for Housssse Thrune to end their ssssiege and leave Angelmire - but I wassss wrong!" Arenzo suddenly throws his head back and laughs, a truly chilling sound. "No, they wissshed to eradicate all trace of Houssse Davian and sssso my home wassss sssset aflame! I perisssshed....and then rosssse again, assss you ssssee me now..."
