"A basilisk. I don't fancy letting such a dangerous creature loose. Yes, it might hurt the cultist but if it was to escape this place, it would hurt many innocent people."
Wylka looks to the other side of the hallway. "I don't have anything that can hide us from the beast's view. But perhaps if we are fast enough it won't have time to attack us."
With that said, Wylka then suddenly burst into a run and crosses the hallway to the other end. Crosses fingers this works.

GM Ietsuna |

As Wylka makes a dash for the far end of the corridor the basilisk fixes its eyes upon him.
Wylka, can I get a Fort save please? Then if everyone wants to tell me how you are crossing the gap and roll me a fort save (just in case) we can get to the end of this corridor and find out what lies within.

![]() |

Khellek looks around to see what is providing the light in the area.
"I would guess that it could not meet our gaze in darkness." he summises. However that would make travel difficult.[/b]"
He shifts his cloak around so that it totally conceals his face from the basalisk, and then hurries along the corridor hugging the far wall. The hot breath of the lizard makes his skin crawl as he hurries past, avoiding even a glance at it.
Effectively blindfolded against the creature.
fort if required: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Meirdrarel takes out some parchment and covers his eyes as he walks straight past the basilisk pen.
If the roll applies then...
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

"Dear oh dear oh dear."
Celewen tosses some food through the bars, aiming for the far side of the cage. Then he touches himself and runs down the hallway.
fortify: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
lucky reroll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

GM Ietsuna |

The group variously moves past the basilisk with speed and/or covered faces.
At the north end of the corridor there is a doorway to the east. The doorway is covered by a long black piece of cloth that hangs from the ceiling and ends a few inches above the floor.

GM Ietsuna |

Moving the long black cloth aside Kent sees that the "door" behind is not actually a door at all, but an iron gate, similar to a prison cell door and it sits open. The bars on the basilisk holding pen were also very similar to those of a prison cell with a similar iron bar gate. The bars here look to be old. The corridor beyond is stone floor, walls and ceiling and there is an eternal flame on the ceiling in a couple of places to provide light. At the end of the corridor is what looks to be a large room.
Map opened up a little more.

![]() |

Wylka relieved he didn't get turned to stone follows behind Kent, covering his back in case they are surprised by some cultist.

![]() |

Khargrom wraps his cloak around his head and feels his way down the hall to the other section.
Busy day for me, I’ll get better posts up tomorrow morning.

![]() |

Khellek eyes up the curtain, and looks to see if it could be relocated to in front of the basalik cell safely.
"Who knows what this was before it was a tattoo parlor?"
history: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31 Maybe he does?

![]() |

Khargrom moves quietly down the hall and tries to get a look into the side room and at least part of the larger room.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

![]() |

Wylka stands back, letting the rogue do his thing. Knowing if he tried to follow he would make a racket.

![]() |

As the group moves forward, Meirdrarel takes the opportunity to look around the parlor to see if anything is out of the ordinary.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

GM Ietsuna |

Several tunnels meet in this room. Three wooden tables and a
number of chairs are stacked here, out of the way, along with
a shipping crate about two feet square. To the east, a portion
of the stone wall stands ajar a few inches.
And the corridor that leads south has two rooms that come off it to teh east and west and one to the south.

![]() |

"I recall now. .. this used to be a prison. Unless I miss my guess this is supposed to be used for Arena animals now... that could explain the cages and the basalisk..."

![]() |

"Except the Basilisk is definitely intended to be a trap to prevent intruders with that illusionary wall."

![]() |

Khargrom motions that he will go check the hall to the south. He slips down to the door, gives it a quick check for traps and (if no traps) checks the handle to see if it is locked.
Perception (traps): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
If not locked or trapped, he will motion for the group to back him up and then open the door.

![]() |

@ Kent, ah good! I’m your backup then.

GM Ietsuna |

Kent and Khargrom see a corridor that heads to the west and a closed door at the end of it.

![]() |

Khellek joins the rest of the Kool, K-krowd looking around the korner.
He readies bessie his crossbow, making sure she has a bolt in place, just in case.

![]() |

Wylka follows around the corner, turning back just long enough to look to see if nothing dangerous is following. "Interesting we haven't run into any people yet."

![]() |

nope, missed that post.
Khargrom repeats the prior steps with the next door. Check for traps, confirm backup, open door if seems safe.
Perception Traps: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

GM Ietsuna |

Khargrom does not detect any traps so he opens the door and takes a step through inside, peeking around the corner.
This room appears at first glance to be an operating theater, as it contains cots draped in clean sheets and tables neatly stacked with surgical implements and dressings, but mixed among the surgical implements are whips, scourges, and other tools of torture. Three humans lie face down on cots in this room, stripped to the waist their priestly robes folded on the floor beside them and unconscious from pain and religious ecstasy. Two teiflings move between the priests, peeling away skin in the shape of the Sihedron rune. A small snake also slithers about on the floor.

![]() |

Wylka follows Khargrom and when noticing the two teifling priests and the torture devices, he grows angry and confronts the teiflings by charging around the corner and heading for the closest one to prepare his attack.

Wylka, in a surprise round you get only a standard or a move action. Did you want to just move into range and not attack?

If you are within 30' you can do a partial charge as a standard action.

Meirdrarel sees Wylka rush forth and hears the sounds of combat. He stands behind Khargrom and chants a spell. An image of an armor surrounds the elf and a surge of confidence appears on his face. "Alright. Let's go aid Wylka."
