Wondering if I 1) have time and 2) should change my companion. As I level I especially want to make sure I don't use boon companion when I can and then end up leaving the wolf on the surface.
What do you all think?

![]() |

I'm too busy trying to figure out what the heck to take as my new feat, sorry!

![]() |

I am still trying to pick a feat too. I was thinking Crane Wing?
Deflect a melee attack 1/round when fighting defensively. I already have deflect arrows, so once per round I can deflect one melee and 1 ranged attack a round?

![]() |

Boon Companion is great.
You have a harness for the wolf. Is some sort of bird an option? A pain old dog is not as good as a wolf but might be more socially acceptable in some situations.

Is Moadis staying with us, or are we getting a dragon disciple? If the former, what's his mercy?

Couple questions: can I use PP to pay for the mats cost of masterwork transformation?
If I take a 3rd level of Oracle, would I need to pay any retraining costs to take the Spirit Guide Archetype?
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM Harker |

I believe you can use prestige points to cover material costs for spells, yes.
Not being terribly familiar with the retraining rules, I may be misunderstanding the second question, but if you are adding or changing an archetype I believe you will need to pay the retraining costs.

![]() |

Normally, if you add an archetype that doesn't replace class features at 1st level, you can just add the archetype at the level where it starts replacing class features - for example, the Empiricist archetype for Investigator doesn't start replacing anything until 2nd level, so if you pick it up at or before 2nd level, you're fine. Unfortunately, Spirit Guide alters your class skills, so it looks like that does require retraining...

I was tempted to grab another level of rogue, but Mel finally chose to advance his Magus. Chose Blur and Cat's Grace as his two spells. Chose extra arcane pool as his feat. Still thinking about equipment.

![]() |

I am very tossed. I was pretty much set on getting a +1 rapier now and then begin saving for the spell storing. But then I foolishly decided to look at everything else I could buy. A wand of scorching ray would completely tap me out, but could be cool. Way better than that stupid wand of cause fear. :p

Changes for level 5:
Added another casting of Gravity Bow.
Added Feat Weapon Focus Longbow
Added skill points
Added one Belt of Incredible Dexterity (+2)
Added animal harness to signify the way I'll move Frostfur through places...
Bumped Favored Enemy Humans to +4 and added Favored Enemy Evil outsiders(+2)
Added Feat Iron Will to Frostfur (buffing Will save)
Please note, with the increase in BAB, WF Longbow and the Dex increase, my to hit has jumped a bit. I am now at a base +12 to hit, without modifiers such as PBS, Inspire Courage, Prayer etc.
If I get my FE:Humans and Gravity Bow, with Deadly Aim and Rapid Shot, I hit +13/+13 and hit for 2d6+12. Not quite Moadis smash, but not bad. Next level, i get rid of the -4 for soft cover for you melee people and I get my second attack! Woot

Sorry, got swallowed by the holiday preparations... and then my aunt died the night before christmas. 3rd death in the family this year, man I just want 2015 to be done already. @#$% crappy year :(
I am changing characters, so Moadis will step down. I will bring eaither a sorcerer wanna be dragon disciple or a mesmerist. Still trying to decide.

![]() |

Sorry to hear about your loss, Moadis. :-(

Any preferences re: Quiella's mercy?
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

I'm also considering Fatigued, so our new Dragon Disciple friend can be relieved of their rage-fatigue.
I do give a +4 vs. fear right now with Aura of Courage.

GM Harker |

I believe we're still waiting for Quiella and Ophelia to finish leveling, while Moadis is bringing in another character. I'd like to get started in full capacity at the beginning of next week, so hopefully everyone will be ready by then. Please let me know if there are any issues with that time frame.

![]() |

Moadis, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt's passing. I hope the new year will treat you better than the last.
As a heads up, I'm not sure what characters you have available, but the scenario is Tier 5-9, so whoever you bring will need to be at least 5th level.
That narrow my choices down. Unfortunatly my sorcerer is at lvl 4,1. I will bring my mesmerist than who is at lvl 5,2.

GM Harker |

Also, as another heads up, the next scenario after this will be the last tier 1-5, so you might have to switch to the sorcerer for that scenario. The three scenarios after that will be 3-7, then onward to tier 5-9. If your intention is to ultimately replace Moadis with your Dragon Disciple, you'll be able to do so and maintain the necessary level after this current scenario.
Unfortunately, one of the potential events in Fortress of the Nail directly impacts the background of tier 1-5 Veteran's Vault, which necessitates doing Fortress of the Nail before Veteran's Vault.

![]() |

I am also happy to know that my PC could both survive this long lol and still be viable in combat even though I am not the biggest source of DPS out there :)

![]() |

Sorry, I've been swamped with stuff, and my attention is lapsing as a result. I picked up Fateful Channel from Inner Sea Gods as my feat (I can provide proof of purchase if you need it, GM) and bought a headband of inspiring wisdom +2.
It's getting close to midnight, so I don't think I can get a gameplay post in tonight, but I'll give it my attention in the morning, I promise.
Happy New Year one and all, and here's to many more scenarios!

![]() |

So here is a breakdown of my AC to make sure I did the math right.
10 base
1 dex
4 wisdom
1 monk bonus
1 (shield) weapon
1 dodge
4 mage armor
1 crane style
3 fight defensively
= 26 normal AC / 30 with ki point
= 21 touch / 25 with ki point
= 19 flat footed
---------------------------------
I can add barkskin for natural armor bonus
I can add ring of protection for deflection bonus
-------------------------------
Any other ideas out there? Should I focus on damage now, since my defense is set for the next couple levels?
I could go AoMF (amulet of mighty fists) with a flame or ice or electric instead going for the +1 bonus?

![]() |

I think I'm all updated now. Everything look okay?
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

I vote Quiella talks for us and we all aid :)
We could begin with showing the evidence of the Paracountess being in a different place during the accusation. Go with the fact that it is undeniable proof, which should be held in the highest standard as law is the greatest tool of it all.

It looks like I might have some openings in my Carrion Crown game for for a front line character and a support/secondary healer. It has a slightly slower posting rate than this campaign and isn't PFS, but if any of you all are interested in playing or can vouch for someone who is, shoot me a PM.

![]() |

Hmmmmmmmmm... I will seriously consider it. There are pros and cons to not being PFS. You're a great GM, so it's hard to turn down the opportunity to play with you. However, I haven't been joining new games for a while now, after I way overcommitted a while back. But, many of the games are finally drawing to a close and you say the posting rate is pretty low.
I think I'll probably do it. How soon do you need a submission? What is the current level and party composition? What's the gist of the campaign?

![]() |

Since my move is done and my life has settled some, I was thinking of getting in another campaign.
I was developing a sword/shield fighter, but can adjust if Quiella was thinking of being the frontliner.

GM Harker |

First, I should let you know that Moadis/Rufus/Merck PM'ed interest as well. He expressed interest in a divine spellcaster of some sort.
They are near the end of the first book, and everyone is level 3. When you come into the game you can either be someone who knew the departed Professor Lorrimor or someone from the nearby area assisting the other PC's with their current task. To avoid spoilers, I'll outline that second possible plot hook if you decide you want to play.
The current PC's are:
Dr. Stefan Von Herzog: Human Wizard (necromancer)
Tara Eliade: Changeling Cleric of Pharasma
Vivian Deberth: Human Inquisitor/Rogue
Teilaenthis: Tiefling Occultist (Battle Host)
It's a horror based campaign that takes place in Ustalav, focused mostly on dealing with classic horror literature/movie monsters.
You'd start at 3rd level, max HP first level, PFS style HP for levels beyond that. Starting Gold: 2000gp.
Other Details:
• 20 point buy
• Classes: All acceptable except Summoners in the APG, Unchained are fine.
• Races: Any Core, plus Aasimar, Tiefling, and Changeling.
• Traits: Two, one of which can be from the Carrion Crown Player's Guide. No Drawbacks.
• No 3rd party material
• Written Background which should address what you've done to level up to 3rd.
• Dark Secret: Every PC should have a dark secret of some sort, which, if exposed, would cause extreme embarrassment at the very least. Please keep it PG-13 and not entirely counter to your alignment.
I'm still waiting for one of the PC's to level so a submission sometime this week is fine.
I'm a bit short on time, so feel to ask more questions or let me know if missed one of yours.

I know that feeling, last year due to real life and stuff I went from 15 games to 7.
Could not come up with an idea for a divine character so I am actually considering a front line for this one.And +1 to play with GM Harker, he rocks.

GM Harker |

We're coming to a close of the scenario, please make your Day Job checks if applicable.
Also, you'll be given a gift of your choice by Zarta, assuming she makes it out alive. You can choose one item up to a 1500 gp value. This item is not restricted by your current Fame score, but must otherwise be an item you could purchase. If the chosen item is worth less than the listed value, any difference is lost. Please let me know what item you wish to choose, if any.

Any good ideas anyone...my default is either:
Aegis of Recovery: +2 to saves for ongoing effects (poison/disease/etc) and if i fall into unconsciousness I get healed 2d8+3
Bag of Holding, Minor: holds 50 lbs
Suggestions?

GM Harker |

I'll have the Chronicle sheets out sometime in the next couple of days once everyone has let me know what gifts they would like.
I anticipate starting the next scenario sometime early next week. It will be #4-18: The Veteran's Vault. It's a tier 1-5 scenario, so if Merck has his Dragon Disciple free by then, it might be a good time to slide him into the campaign. This next scenario occurs after the events of The Fortress of the Nail, so that's why we're playing a Tier 1-5 after a Tier 5-9.
