Sorry for the thread derail but an Iron Gods game I'm in just lost one of our players and we're looking for a replacement. The current party consists of a Human Gunslinger (pistolero) (myself), a Ratfolk Investigator (empiricist), a Android Fighter, and a Half-elf Inquisitor (sacred beastmaster).
We're looking for an arcane caster who can bring some healing to the table as well (our Inquisitor didn't take CLW as a spell known). Thinking either a Witch with the Healing hex or a Bard with CLW (not trying to pigeonhole anyone, though).

Also with our current healing abilities we shouldn't be out more than a day. IMO we should wait to buy a fresh wand when the extra share can afford it, or we really need one.

Wand for emergency battle healing and when we can't wait a day, otherwise we wait the day and heal up. How does that sound?

I would also be open to loaning out my share to the extra share to afford it more quickly if people would like that. Frankly, there aren't a whole lot of cheap items I want to afford (maybe some generic consumables or something) so loaning out what I have so we can survive is no problem for me.

I will explain how I prefer to do it, but if you all can agree to another approach, I am fine with that too. Looking at the Treasure sheet, some items (coins, gems) are worth face value, and everything else you can sell for half price. To keep it fair, I basically have you sell everything, and then split the value. From that, you are allowed to "buy back" anything from the list for the same 1/2 price. This means you get a better value from keeping things you find, but everyone gets a fair shake. Once you have your cash, you are free to spend it on other gear or loan it to each other or even pool some for party funds. We can leave "party owned" items on the list, but I prefer anything you keep you track on your own sheet. I assume you will keep the partial Wand of Cure Light wounds for the party, so it has no "value". Otherwise, the even split is: 471.76 gold. This includes the 156 above, so if you took that earlier, just don't take it again now.

Still no Precise Shot yet, but I've got a defensive power and i picked up Kinetic Cover for something additional to do in combat. It's good to be level 2 :)

Truth be told, I noticed last night that it was meant for you to level before exploring the basement... but that is a weird time, and there are a lot of you, so I don't think it worked out bad.

I will need to think about increasing CR and treasure as we go, though.

My apologies, things are a little crazy right now. Last week my Father in Law was admitted to the hospital for an infection and dehydration. Yesterday we received the test results from the hospital and it's been determined he has colon cancer. Given his age and state of health we are consulting with his doctors on the best course of treatment. Surgery, while an option, is risky and he may not survive the operation.
Needless to say things are quite up in the air right now so if need be please feel free to bot me until such time as I can devote more attention to the game.

For the party, because the treasure is low split 7 ways, I am going to cut you deal. The temple will offer your first wand at 1/2 price, so you only need to delete 375 from the party funds.

Also, while it may not be that realistic, let's assume you all spend the rest of the day resting and so you should have all spells and "per day" items at level 2 for the funeral. (The timing was not meant to pressure or penalize you).

No spoilers - just a bit of meta gaming.

There was a full description of how to calm the crowd with a DC 23 Diplomacy check, followed by an 18 DC Diplomacy, and then followed by two other DC15 Diplomacy checks.

And then is says, Coercion is a slightly more difficult prospect. Nonetheless, a proper show of strength and a successful DC 13 Intimidate check is enough to silence Baseil and quell the riot.

Now, how a DC 13 Intimidate check is supposed to be the more difficult prospect doesn't make sense to me.

Thank you everyone for you patience while my family and I get things sorted out. My Father in Law has met with both his primary physician and an oncologist in the last couple of weeks. One has said that his heart is not strong enough for surgery while the other says he's not strong enough for chemotherapy. So it appears the best course of treatment is no treatment at this time.
There are still a couple of more doctors visits scheduled during the coming weeks but I feel that things have settled down enough after the initial scare that I can begin to start posting again on a regular basis.
Again I apologize if my absence has caused any undue problems and look forward to getting some semblance of normalcy back.

Hey gang - we are going to recon the current scene a little. I was doing the math, and there is no way for you to succeed and a high likelihood of TPK if you try.

The rules for smoke inhalation are:
A character who breathes heavy smoke must make a Fortitude save each round (DC 15, +1 per previous check) or spend that round choking and coughing. A character who chokes for 2 consecutive rounds takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage. Smoke obscures vision, giving concealment (20% miss chance) to characters within it.

That's pretty rough for level 2, and once you look at what it will take to save Sara, I don't give you good odds. Throw orcs into the mix, and it is ridiculous.

I went searching the boards, and many did wipe out here. 1 group calculated a 2% chance of success. Someone else did recommend holding your breath, though, and the rules for that are:

You can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to twice your Constitution score, but only if you do nothing other than take move actions or free actions. If you take a standard action or a full-round action (such as making an attack), the remainder of the duration for which you can hold your breath is reduced by 1 round. (Effectively, a character in combat can hold his breath only half as long as normal.) After that period of time, you must make a DC 10 Constitution check every round to continue holding your breath. Each round, the DC for that check increases by 1. If you fail the Constitution check, you begin to breath in smoke as above.

Also, I couldn't find any rule to support it, but those who went in with a wet cloth over their face will get a +2 to their fort save vs smoke.

So, anyone who wants to start their first round with the words (I hold my breath) may do so...

Now, spellcasting will still be a problem, but overall it will give you a fighting chance.

I can cast create water to buy us time if you all would rather contribute to the fight. Where would the water need to go in order to keep the fire back? I can also use the spell to wet all of your rags (pending on how close you are).

If not, Thozar will begin the fight holding his breath.

If I decide to switch from making a fortitude save to holding my breath do I still need to make another save?

At this point, you need to make one in order to get a breath. Once you make a save, you can start holding your breath (like the red orc did).

If I wasn't a Tortured Crusader that expects the worst wcould likely end up happening, I could stabilize Sara with Lay On Hands.

And the fact that I can't could end up proving another example of neverending struggles and hardships...thus reaffirming the tortured crusader mindset.

It's a vicious cycle :p
