Manteca stands gun at the ready, watching the thing run away.
"...Did we scare it off? ...Can plants feel fear??" He looks suspiciously at EH-RK. "How sure are we that this thing is a plant, anyways? That seemed a lot more like something less 'plant-y' and more 'bug-eating monster-y'."

"Gah, Desna's backside!" Jazzming exclaimed as the plant-beast popped back up and shot out a thorn. Quickly spinning toward the creature, she let loose another bolt. "Seriously, why are the damn plants after us? I'm not a vegetarian!"

Manteca starts to direct via telepathy to try to cut off the thing's escape, and takes a shot himself.
Using 'Get 'Em!' to give everybody the +1 and firing

Manteca looks with sadness on the pistol. I don't even know why I carry this thing, looking with a twinge of jealousy at the longarms and heavy weapons scattered about the group.

Manteca stands with the gun still at the ready. "Didn't we already say that once already?? It's easy for you to think that it's gone, it doesn't seem to have the taste for vesk." The shirren looks nervously through the trees. "Even if we did scare it off - do you think we can outrun it?"

Lowering her crossbolter slightly, Jazzming glanced around before suggesting, "I say let's continue on. Either it'll attack again or it's left us. Either way, we got a date with some bad guys."

Life Science: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Manteca's antennae wilt as he hears the prognosis. "But... there's a way to fix it. Right??" Manteca fumbles with his bag, pulling out his medkit. "I'll just cut the whole thing out!" the shirren says manically, brightly holding the scalpel in a trembling claw.

"Whoa!" Jazzming cried out as Manteca held aloft his scalpel. She rushed over and gripped his arm. "I'm sure there's a better way than just digging into yourself. EH-RK, you able to do any kind of scans to see if those seed thingies actually got into his system, first? I'm afraid neither Hawkings nor Faraday have a med-scanner. Something I should probably figure out a way to do, now that I think about it..."

Human Jazzming Brokato: Indeed. I might perform such a scan...however I believe that Shirren Manteca Imani is the Doctor. I am a Scientist, my skills lay more in the Physical Sciences.

As EH-RK distracts Jazzming for a moment, Manteca takes advantage of the distraction to swap scalpel to his off-claw and pry out the thorn. The shirren stands with wince as he feels the pain of broken chitin. "Well, technically it's a doctorate in xenopsychology... but I am learning." He looks at the thorn, then carefully picks it up and places it in a jar in his medkit. "Might as well hang onto this for study if necessary."

Manteca stands, tossing the scalpel back in the bag and drawing his pistol again. "That... that can't be a good sound." He waits for someone else to go ahead to investigate, but will then follow them.

EH-RK says Shirren Manteca Imani: You are correct. Someone should investigate. but makes absolutely no move to do so. You're pretty sure Eric means "someone else" should investigate.

Boreal follows the noise and as she comes closer the words become recognizable. Someone is demanding to be granted death by someone named 'Devourer'. The repetitiveness of the demand suggests that the person may be calling to some kind of deity.
As Boreal moves closer, unfazed by whatever might answer, she find a female lashunta, who leans at a stone. She looks really ill. On seeing the Vesk approach she threatens "I'll kill you if you come any closer." But her obvious inability to get up and her feeling around for her weapon, without finding it doesn't help with looking like a threat.

"Oh, fun, crazy cultists," Jazzming said wryly. Looking over the woman, she couldn't help but shake her head. "I know it might be wrong, but think we should just leave her?"

"Oh, that's easy. She probably dehumanizes them in her mind in order to reduce her empathy for them, making her capable of applying such callous judgements," Manteca says cheerfully. "Useful when making hard choices, so I'm led to believe."

"Something like that, yeah. Cultists bring their trouble upon themselves, no need to make your own life more complicated dealing with them," Jazzming said with a shrug. "It sucks, and can be construed as immoral, but I sleep fine at night. Most of the time."
When the woman goes and uses magic, though, she moved over to wack the woman on the head.

Unfortunately, the woman's erratic movements cause the hit to go wide.

Or, again, sedatives. It'll only hurt a second but then she should be more capable to receive some healing, the shirren says mentally. I don't want to present the option out loud in case we're doing a "Good Steward, Bad Steward" thing here.
