"Why do I feel that you're messing with us, Boreal Typhon, Daughter of Zerukesh "Hornbreaker" Typhon, Daughter of Tarsonis "Jaeger" Typhon?" Jazzming said with a smirk before looking around. "So, are we still going after the armed and dangerous monkey?"

"There's the damned thing!" Jazzming said, pointing the target kaukariki to the shirren. "Think you can hit it from here? I mean, it did steal your gun, you should be the one to kill it."
Manteca Imani, MD
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
"Probably not," the shirren says with determination, raising his pistol anyways.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The shot goes predictably wide, surprising no one.
Manteca Imani, MD
Manteca runs over to the needler, carefully dusting it off and checking it for damage. "This is an important tool!," he says to Boreal, after her disdain of the retrieval attempts. "What if you were on death's door on the other side of a pitched firefight, and I had to deliver a life-saving serum from the other side of battle?"
Corporal Jazzming Brokato
|
"Then we are glad you've retrieved your weapon, doctor, aren't we?" Jazzming said, glancing sideways at the vesk. "So, are we going to be camping here for the night, or trekking on a bit further?"
Boreal Typhon
I am curious as to what the AP says about these things? How we are supposed to deal with them.
"These things are far too interested in us. They will either attract something bigger that is not afraid of that plant, or their curiosity will get the better of them eventually..."

"Well, if those monkeys are gonna be sticking around, I, for one, don't want them to take off with my spare underwear," Jazzming said, giving a side glance towards EH-RK. "Does anybody have a bead on the direction we should be taking?"

SURVIVAL: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Eric checks his datapad, checks it again, holds up a map.
Humanoids: I am having a difficult time establishing complete analysis. Eric almost sounds despondent.
Manteca Imani, MD
Manteca keeps staring into the trees, antenna twitching angrily. "We could just burn down the forest," the shirren says testily, then catches his own tone. "Or umm... at least just open fire on this stand of trees," he backtracks, as though that sounds any more reasonable.
EH-RK
Someone roll survival so we can get going?
Manteca Imani, MD
I think Reynotto is our best for that - high wisdom, borrowing my kit - plus if we tried to follow Manteca we would almost certainly be lost and eaten in short order, and not necessarily that order.
Foxy Quickpaw
The group moves on following the markings on the map and the suggested landmarks. After half a day or so the kaukarikis finally lose interest and return to their territory.
After a typical night in the wilderness with suspicious noises everywhere and not too much sleep due to taking turns on the watch duty, the group moves on.

"So, anybody seen that old vid about the evil book of magic, and that tree comes to life and attacks that girl?" Jazzming said nervously, glancing behind the group that the strange thing following them. "Well, I don't want that to happen, and that thing might be hungry."
Foxy, was I able to recover any of my crossbolter bolts from the last battle?

Now that the creature is pointed out to him. Eric finds he has detailed files on it. Perhaps one of his previous iterations dealt with the creature.
Foxy Quickpaw
It attacks with its tentacles and copies the abilities of its enemy while doing so.
A ksarik can fire one of its thorns as a ranged attack. The dart has a range of 100 feet, deals piercing damage, and exposes the target to carrion spores.
It also spits acid. It heals very fast.
As it is noticed the creature hides away.

Life Science: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Manteca is unable to find the thing himself either, but as soon as he has it pointed out, his laser pistol is in his hand. "That's it - I am officially unimpressed with these jungles. Even the plants hunt?? Why can't we meet one of those nice skittermanders that Boreal was talking about??"

Humanoids: The Plant based creature that was following is attempting to hide. There is a high probability that it may be targeting the weakest among us for ambush predation. I suggest feeding the Shirren to it. Eric deadpans, its hard to tell if this is humor or seriousness with the android. A few seconds of no laughter later Eric says
Humanoids: Of course that was not serious. Plants don't eat Shirren.
Boreal Typhon
"Make a noise and keep moving. I hope plants are not good at math." Boreal says, waiting for a large tree to duck behind. As soon as she finds one she will wait till she thinks the plant won't notice and crouches at the roots of the tree, hoping to let the plant pass her, or atleast close distance before it notices her.

"Great, a plant with a sense humor," Jazzming said wryly before sighing. "Also, it seems to really want to eat you, Manteca." The sound of fighting, though, brought forth a bigger sigh. "I thought I was the pilot... Faraday, make a reminder to get better armaments when possible if this is the new normal."
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Manteca Imani, MD
Manteca runs back towards the fight, pistol drawn. "Boreal! Hold strong!" the shirren yells. "We should cut it's excape routes off! Can someone flank with Boreal?"
