The door to this guard room hangs slightly ajar (U3). As you approach suddenly light comes out of the door. Then the door is violently thrown open and a headless burning skeleton wielding a large axe jumps in your way.

We should search this room first.

Grergof heads over and starts looking around the room the skeleton came out of.


Narrator

Within the room stands a table surrounded by a few rickety chairs, along with a pair of moldy but serviceable cots. At the wall is a winch for raising and lowering the portcullis outside the room.

As there is nothing of interest in this room the groups moves on as suggested by Spugnoir. You enter another cell block (U4). Several iron doors line the walls of this large, empty room. In the middle of the room, a hinged ten-foot-square metal grating lies over a dark pit in the floor. A thick rope has been tied to the grating and dangles into the pit below.

In eery silence a ghostly man with a horrifying grimace and a large two handed axe comes up from the oubliette through the grating.

Even more eerily the blood doesn't run down and to the ground but floats over to the axe wielder and transforms into his essence.

Darius backs away 5ft Step and grabs the hilt of hos sword and calls on Iomedae's power.

Casts Ghostbane Dirge on the ghost. DC16 Will save. (The target coalesces into a semi-physical form for a short period of time. While subject to the spell, the incorporeal creature takes half damage (50%) from nonmagical attack forms, and full damage from magic weapons, spells, spell-like effects, and supernatural effects.)
Lasts for 3 Rounds.

Grergof steps up with his flail ready and a soft glow seems to come over him. In a hard voice that seems very uncharacteristic of him he says:
I am the instrument of Sarenrae's justice. You shall fall before her holy light!

Oh and all of that passes any DR he has. :)

AC is also 19 vs him for the rest of the fight.

Now let's just hope he fails his save vs the Dirge or that Crit might be wasted :(

Ah crap it made it's save against my spell. But only just. Ugh what a waste.

"Thanks Spugnoir 'ol chum!" Darius says quickly, pushes his hands forth, index fingers and thumbs touching and a pulse of glowing energy spreads from Darius

"By Iomedae's justice you will fall back!" He shouts.

Ugh, the dice gods do not favour me this day.

The holy energy rips parts out of the essence of the ghost.

The ghost returns the favor by ripping a piece out of Darius.

Darius nods thanks to Spugnoir again then reaches to his belt and uncorks his own vial of holy water and splashes it on the incorporeal creature.

Holy water on incorporeal creatures is not ranged as you pour it over them.

Darius manages to flush some of the essence of the ghost out with the holy water.

With the ghost attacking Darius in turn.

"To the nine hell's with this!" Darius says feeling the life slowly fade from him.

At this point he spots some of the items they found earlier hanging out of Brother Geregofs backpack. Specifically the handle of the blood smeared axe.

Darius reaches for the axe and pulls it forth move action (I think) and takes a whack at the ghost that seems to be kicking everyones butt.

Attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3 (Not sure if there's any magical bonuses)
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 (Handaxe damage right? Not sure if there's any magical bonuses as well)

Unused to the the handaxe, Darius miscalculates and misses the ghost by a mile.

The axe is +1 and your attack is BAB +2 and Str +2 for a total of +5 (-4 for not proficient)

Darius' clumsy attempt to use an axe doesn't help.
