The cracked altar smolders with gray fumes; upon it are stacked foul offerings of bloody skulls and broken scythe blades. And Grergof can easily add further damage to this altar with his adamantine flail. But the whispers come back. And Grergof feels a strong compulsion to eat from the rotting flesh that is spread out there.

Does it bypass protection from evil? That should stop anything mind effecting.

If that passes and Geregof hears the whipsers then he retreats back.
If not and I need to save and Pro evil is bypassed.

Gergof turns and runs to hit the creature that just cast a spell at him. She starts to the table running up so he will pass over the table. While he does this he puts away his flail and pulls out his mace.
Put away Flail as move action, Move and pull out mace as standard. I have a LONG way to get there as these are 10' squares, so you may want to run a few rounds, as my 20' is going to take me forever to get there.
