Atum would rather have the bird bound to serve one of us as well in case it turns on us or tells the Red Raven something we don't want him to know.
Atum grunts in agreement with Zandu. "Thank you for the healing, Zaliex. But your kind words for the Red Raven do not expunge his actions against our organization."

![]() |

No one should be enslaved against their will. No one. Faldoc would vote to release the phoenix and even suggest trying to find a way to break his imprisonment to the room.

![]() |

I agree wit Faldoc, but we needin' to know more 'bout Red Raven. Whatcha got fer us? Den feed him da ring.

"HAHA" Zandu laughs "the only difference between the slaver and the slave, is that the slaver realized that everyone is a slave in the end.
Whether to ones ideology, Religion, or the almighty coin we are all slaves to something. Besides we cannot let some petty ideal cloud our vision, this individual has allied with our enemy and transgressed against the society.... The organization that pays for our loyalty." He says as he continues looking at the ring as it glistens on his hand.
also the bird said he could heal us all

![]() |

"I would like to know more before we release you. Which we will do, I expect." declares the loremaster.
Zandu: He did. Check Tek's last post.

![]() |

Adaxis furrows his brow and casts a suspicious eye at the ring.
Be careful Zandu K. Rool wit dat precious trinket. It might be cursed!

![]() |

So, what is it that you can tell us? Anything you know could prove useful.

![]() |

Bold Strider - no vote?
Atum - keep ring
Zandu - keep ring
Faldoc - free bird
Adaxis - free bird
Kynrac - free bird

Holy cow. I never saw any of this. Checked this thread on a whim and found I missed like 30 posts... Sorry guys.
"I will bind no creature against its will." Karu asserts as he feels his light wounds healed up, wondering why the rest of the party is so injured.
He takes the ring by force, if necessary, and presents it to the Phoenix. "Choose your own destiny, however if you wish to aid our cause, then I would be in your debt." he says with a bow.
Force would be challenging someone to a duel for rights to the ring, but it looks like sheer democracy wins!
Also, Karu lost his last duel to an oni, though he will never admit it! (@EF) Just ask Jill at Common Room!

![]() |

tossing the ring at Karu the Boldstrider with a roll of his eyes at his speech "tsk tsk thought a mercenary would have known a good deal when he saw one" he says in a slightly somber tone
"well no point in dwelling over past profit. time is gold after all"
also Zandu would have tried his hardest to get a feather the biggest on the bird... cause you know it would look awesome in a hat
also Atum would you like to accept a duel? Zandu would probably pass due to the fact he now has a soft spot for watching things crushed with THE super hammer :P

![]() |

"You thought I was a mercenary?" asks Karu in disbelief. "My good fellow. I am a man who enjoys a good rough and tumble. Training future scrappers in the style of the Bold Strider is my aim in life after my revelation at the monastery in the River Kingdoms."

![]() |

Karu tosses it into its mouth, upholding his words. "Be well, phoenix. If you need aid, find the Society and ask for the Bold Striders. We shall always aid you."

![]() |

Making a mild cough Zandu approaches the bird "As a being as wise as you must surley know not even freedom is free. I would like to ask for compensation for the loss of one good looking ring he says as he pretends to do some calculations in his head.
"my associates and I have decided that the grand total of one ring is by my calculation of equal or greater value as to the largest most grandiose feather on your body. Immediate payment would be most appreciated to fill the void left behind by the loss of the ring and to reduce the emotional compensation that will be required to paid at a later date"

GM Tektite |

The phoenix snaps its beak shut and raises its head, then bobs its head and neck up and down as it swallows the ring. "Thank you. You are truly noble and just people."
Once you take your leave, you find and follow a passageway at the back of the cavern. The thin, winding passage leads up a steep incline from the massive cavern below to a dead end that is clearly the obscured side of a secret door. The door stands ajar just a crack, but appears to be built into the altar of a small private chapel. Light from stained glass windows above the altar suggests that you’ve reached the surface. Within the secret door, on your side of the chapel, a rough red cloth cloak and the headdress of the Red Raven hang from a wooden peg in the wall. A basin of water nearby is tinged red and a fresh pot of red paint sits next to the basin.

![]() |

Faldoc will wish to take a peek into the chapel in order to determine if anything else is amiss or if it been occupied recently... or currently.
Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36

![]() |

Super Hammer indeed! Atum would just sunder your weapons and then what would you do? But he would never duel over such a frivolous thing.
"It seems we are in the right place," Atum says obviously as he looks at the cloak and red paint. "Is anyone good at acting? You could declare yourself the new Raven and wait for the real one to accost you."

![]() |

if only we had a tengu in the group
"huh here I thought we were going after a now naked man"Zandu says as he looks at the costume. a little gaudy all the red no?'
sooo who is going to wear the robes?

![]() |

"Well, I have no need to hide behind a disguise." Karu asserts. "Let us boldly enter and declare our opposition to the Red Raven. I'm sure that he shall come face us if he is a man of honor."

![]() |

I'm no actor, but I can transform into a tiny sparrow and scout around.

GM Tektite |

Faldoc peeks through the door and sees that the secret door from the tunnel leading down into the Raven’s Roost opens into the false facade of an altar in an austere chapel dedicated to Abadar, Master of the First Vault. Numerous lit candles flicker from shelves built into the whitewashed walls, which extend thirty feet to end in what must be some sort of spire or steeple. The upper walls of the structure bear huge stained-glass windows. From the light illuminating their colorful scenes it’s clear you’ve emerged onto the surface. Two huge double doors on the far wall, about 20 feet away, stand open just a crack, revealing a sliver of the courtyard beyond. Several figures throng the yard, jeering and yelling. Inside the chapel, though, all is quiet.

![]() |

What's going on out there, I wonder. Let me go take a look.
Unless stopped by the party, Faldoc will try to cautiously move closer to the doors in hopes of determining what exactly is going on outside. He'll see if he can hear what the people are yelling about as well.
Stealth: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26

GM Tektite |

Darting from pew to pew, Faldoc sneaks across the empty chapel and peers through the crack in the door. More than a dozen angry Galtan citizens throng the narrow courtyard of the keep, crowding around a tall wooden guillotine erected on the far end. Four tall, gaunt human men wearing long gray coats and armed with sturdy halberds patrol the angry Mob, keeping the peace while at the same time cheering along with the bloodthirsty crowd. Howls of “off with his head!” and “death to the noble traitor!” emerge from the loud din of the rabble.
A richly garbed man wearing an absurd hat festooned with ribbons and badges looks down on the crowd from atop the courtyard wall, unfurling a scroll and preparing to speak. As the crowd shifts to reveal the guillotine, the focus of all the anger becomes clear. Kneeling in the mud, his neck exposed to the guillotine’s blade, is a dark-haired human man dressed in familiar red leather armor.
“Aric of Halvon,” screams the hat-wearing man atop the courtyard wall. “You stand accused as an enemy of the Red Revolution and a sworn foe of the People of Galt. By my decree, you are required to grant us the magical password that grants access to Montrose Keep, so that the ill-gotten gains of your evil nobility can be distributed to the good people of Galt!”

Faldoc would make a great spy.
Faldoc will quickly but quietly go back to the group and relay what he has seen. That dark-haired man had a smudge of red face paint along his chin, about up to his left ear, apparent remnants of a hasty cleaning job I'd say.
Faldoc will look to the others for any idea of what the hell is going on and who these people are.

![]() |

Faldoc returns to find that the group is missing the singular Bold Strider. In the crowd, the shimmering green dragon scale-embossed breastplate can be seen as Karu moves to investigate the proceedings.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Dunno if this gets me anything for muscling up to the front.
"Hey!" he bellows to a person next to him. "What's going on here? Why is this man to be put to death?" Karu asks, curious as to the laws of the land.

Bird - Adaxis |

Adaxis transforms into a diminutive bird (thrush) and flies inside circling the entire room.
Stealth: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (3) + 25 = 28
Perception: 1d20 + 39 ⇒ (12) + 39 = 51

GM Tektite |

The man turns to Karu, a slight expression of surprise on his face. "Why? Why are any of them put to death. Corruption! Only he could have come into ownin' this big manor house!"
As the party fans out into the crowd, nothing else of note falls unders their searching gazes.
As you look, the man working the guillotine begins to untie the rope holding the wicked sharp, soul-stealing blade.

![]() |

"We need to take him before they kill him and find out some answers," Atum mutters to the others. He pushes through a few rows of the crowd and starts to raise his polearm at the headsman while growing in size yet again....

![]() |

Stay yourself! Faldoc will grab a blunt arrow and try to prevent the executioner from untying the rope.

Let him speak before you do this!
I hope Atum know what he is doing.

![]() |

Karu leaps on to the gallows from the ground. He bows obeisantly towards the executioner and the man in the foppish hat. "Excuse me, valiant upholders of the law, but we have been chasing this man for the execution of a Pathfinder Venture-Captain. May we ask him some questions before you put him to death for corruption?" he asks politely.
"As a devout follower of Irori, you can be assured that we will not interfere with your laws, but we must insist on speaking with the man before you put him to death."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (12) + 21 = 33

![]() |

Seems so!

![]() |

Yep, that's correct. My image of the scene is that I'm trying to use the blunt arrows in a nonlethal fashion in order to keep the man's hands off of the rope. If that's a called shot to hit his hands or something I'd do it but I'm not sure doing something like that is covered in the rules.

Bird - Adaxis |

CHIRP! Chirpy, chirp-chirpidy-chirp.
Seeing Faldoc fire arrows at the executioner, Adaxis nose dives toward the fatal weapon. The thrush attempts to catch the rope with his beak preventing the blade to drop. Mouebane perks up and races behind the arrows toward their target.

GM Tektite |

Faldoc fires three arrows at the executioner, hitting all three times. The man cries out, and the crowd begins to cry out loudly as chaos begins to ensue!

Meanwhile the fifften or so commmoners in the courtyard begin to move to sides, all the while yelling!

Faldoc shrugs, seemingly not caring too much that he just enticed a riot. He was more concerned about making sure that this man lived. Sorry Judge, I meant no permanent harm... originally.

For some reason, I read Kynrac and thought it said Karu. Ignore my last post.

Atum's form increases in size as he darts forward and executes the executioner!
Karu readies to punch the executioner, but finds it unneeded. Luckily, with those rolls! Good thing it was invalid!
Zandu tries to blend in with the mob as he moves forward, but sticks out like the foreigner he is!
Faldoc fires four arrows, hitting the nearest guard with three of them and wounding his severely!!
Kynrac!

Kynrac steps forward, calling down a blessing of fervor on his companions.

Blessing of Fervor: Don't forget to pick one of the following bonuses each turn!
- Increase its speed by 30 feet.
- Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
- Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
- Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
- Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
It doesn't stack with haste! Pick a different or better bonus than those provided with haste.
