Karu the Bold Strider |
Karu deftly sidesteps the gnome's feeble attack as he feels the refreshing heat of the Wall of Flame on his skin. "It's a good day to train!" he says unabashedly.
He hears Atum call out for healing as he chuckles. "Don't leave me now, Atum! We have a weightlifting session scheduled in the morning!"
Remembering why he is here, Karu lashes out with a flurry of kicks at the tiny gnomes, switching to the cornered elf should the gnome collapse from the harsh training regimen.

Atum Nakhti |
Atum grunts in surprise as his armor turns invisible.
AC 27 - 12 armor = AC 15! Oh no!
Fortification:
crit? below 30 misses: 1d100 ⇒ 14
So those attacks are going to hurt but thanks to my DR 3/ adamantine, Atum is still standing after the arrows. However, the fire damage will drop him to -1. Thanks to Diehard he's still standing though.
Atum, despite being pincushioned with arrows and scorched from the ongoing fire, keeps swinging at anything he can reach before taking a step back out of the room.
Edit: Whoops, accidentally rolled a full-attack but remembered that I'm disabled so I can only take a standard attack. If I can reach the elf before 5' stepping back, I'll do that. Otherwise aim at one of the archers.

"Kynrac!" he bellows. "Fix me!" He neglects to add please to this request.
GM Tektite |
Karu punches the gnome three times, knocking him unconscious!
1d100 ⇒ 13
Atum swings at the elf, but once again, catches only the blurry movement!
Zandu moves into the room and strikes the gnome!
Mousebane attacks the elf, managing to land one bite!
Adaxis tears into elf, landing several blows and dropping the man!
Faldoc fires a few arrows dropping another archer.
As their leader falls, the archers and gnome glance at each other, then drop their weapons, holding up their hands. "Quarter?" The gnome asks.
Karu the Bold Strider |
Karu's body seems ready to pounce, but he thinks about it once more and shrugs. "You realize that you are asking surrender from a group of individuals who just caught you stealing while your compatriot has just slain a leader of the Pathfinder Society?" states Karu as he maintains his Earth Dragon martial arts pose towards the remaining gnome.
"We will accept your surrender, however we expect full cooperation." states Karu. Once agreed upon, Karu will nod and dash over to Atum, healing him with his gift from Irori.
Lay on Hands: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 6) = 18
Once he has stopped bleeding, he leaves the gnome and his injured friend to be dealt with by the rest of the Pathfinders as he seeks out Osprey and VC Petulengro. If he sees any injured, he will use his wand of CLW to heal them.
Faldoc Tisbane |
Faldoc seems more concerned with retrieving his arrows that the terms of the surrender. FULL cooperation, remember that, he bellows as he rummages around for his projectiles. He have Boomer stand near whoever is going to be securing the enemy as protection.
Faldoc will then take time to search the corpses.
Zandu K. Rool |
Zandu shrugs as the gnomes and friends drop their weapons "Very wise of you to surrender when the Great K. Rool entered the fray he say as he in a overly dramatized way sheathes his scimitar.
"but shame on you for setting fire to this woman's house, killing a guest, burrowing a hole in the floor, and cutting a devilishly perfect hole in the wall" he say admiring the work of the gnomes cutting in the wall.
"of course part of the terms of your surrender will indeed have material compensation... reparations if you will, but we can work that out in the contract... Have you ever considered joining the Pathfinder Society their may even be a slight discount in your favor. he says with a chuckle.
seeing that his compatriots have everything under control Zandu will check on the magic blade they were sent to escort, then say a few words over the fallen venture captain, followed by (and hopefully after most of the heavy lifting is done) checking on the beautiful hostess.
Atum Nakhti |

Atum will hand his wand to Kynrac and ask him to bring him back up.
Adaxis |
Adaxis also accepts their surrrender. He retrieves a wand and starts poking at his numerous wounds.
CLW wand: 18d8 + 18 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 4, 3, 5, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 2, 4, 3, 4, 8, 6, 2) + 18 = 87
"Boys, ya done kicked a hornets nest. Best be explainin' yerselves. Why didja do it? Who gave da orders?
Karu the Bold Strider |
Karu will move to cut Osprey free from the belly of the red worm. "Hiya!" he yells as he shoves his hand through the skin of the beast and rips out several plates, freeing the elusive druid.
After he sees that Osprey is either stable or dead, he will move to the collapsed balcony, grabbing pieces of granite and marble debris and throwing them in the far corner until he has freed the woman's body, alive or dead.
Once they are free, he administer healing action to Osprey, VC Petulengro or any other servants that may have been injured in the fight.
10 charges should be good to get everyone mobile again.
Zandu K. Rool |
" You know Mr. Bold Strider have you ever considered charging for your healing services I am sure that you can reap a bountiful harvest of gold" he say pondering for a moment as he watches Karu dig out the buried woman.
"besides I am sure we can add this towards the survivors of the ill conceived attack bill.
Kynrac |
Kynrac makes sure all the Pathfinders - including Osprey and the Venture-Captain - are safe and sound, using the various resources at his disposal to heal wounds and comfort minds. He will mourn and pray for the spirit of the slain Adril Hestram, commending his soul to Irori.
Once his work is done, he focuses on what's to come next. "We have to find out who's behind this, and why. I can check taverns, inns and hovels of many kinds for information - that would be a start, I imagine. Venture-Captain, do you have any insight on the matter?"
GM Tektite |
After Osprey and Eliza are extricated, Eliza stands and brushes herself off. Nodding to Kynrac, she motions for you to follow her into her study, then sits and wipes a dusty hand through her hair. "The attackers came through no ordinary means." She says. "The Lodge's books call it the Maze of the Open Road, and my own investigations reveal that it contains portals that connect to sites all over Golarion. It's been here for centuries, and it's extremely dangerous. I've been spending most of my time worrying about the rare curious citizen who sneaks onto the grounds and wanders in, but I wonder if I shouldn't have been more concerned with what might come out. I'm sure that is how the attackers got here." She sighs, looking extremely tired.
"Before you try to follow the Red Raven into the Maze of the Open Road, where he has surely fled, we should investigate the scene and see what can be learned. There's no telling where the Raven wandered off to inside the Maze. If you're to follow him, you'd best do so with as much information as possible."
Atum Nakhti |
Atum grunts in agreement. "Who is this Red Raven though? Why would he risk an attack on the Pathfinders and want to take out our Venture-Captain? For the revolution, he claimed, but I fail to see the connection yet."
Zandu K. Rool |
Zandu snaps out of his quick profit schemes when he hears mention of the "Maze of the open road"
"I have heard of such a underground passage from contacts that best not be mentioned.[b] Zandu says as he makes a mental note of the under ground passage.
[b]" I dismissed them of course but the implications of having such a passage going under a Pathfinder Lodge would be profitable and something that others would love to stake a shared interest in" He says mischievously as obvious gears start to tinker in his head.
"but first I would like to acquire more information on this "maze"."
GM Tektite |
Eliza shakes her head at Atum's question. "The Red Raven is a folk hero of Galt. As far as I was concerned, more folk legend then historical truth, but it appears he or more likely, someone is using the identity of the Red Raven. He's obviously referring to the Galtan revolution, but I see no connections between it and Adril."
Turning to Zandu, she says. "The Maze of the Open Road is not an underground tunnel, it is a magical portal...of sorts. And it is above ground."
Kynrac |
"The Maze of the Open Road? How exciting. If it were under better circumstances I could even rejoice at the perspective of exploring such a place."
Is it possible to Gather Information about it? If it is:
Diplomacy (gather information): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25
Karu the Bold Strider |
"I have no need to sell healing to the injured. It is only right to heal the injured when they require it." Karu states proudly.
---
"Take us there. We will figure out the rest on the way." Karu asserts after everyone is adequately cared for.
Zandu K. Rool |
frowning at the Bold Strider's refusal of his almost full proof get rich quick scheme "I will give you a few of my business cards when this is over and if you ever change your mind get back to me"
******
some what surprised at Karu's bold stridingness Zandu interrupts " I don't know about you but I would rather like to investigate the area before jumping into who knows what... last thing I need is to be jumping into a volcano, I don't know about you but I am only like 10% fire proof he say glancing around the carnage that was caused by the battle.
but if we take too long we may have to clean up this mess
"well lets hurry and get this info so we may be on our way" he says whistling
now if I was a giant half bird half red half man where would I hide clues?
so is their any thing specific we can search for clues, interrogate prisoners, and do we have the d4 hrs to gather info?
Karu the Bold Strider |
"I'm sure a volcano wouldn't be that hard to survive." Karu states with a laugh, winking to Atum. "The Bold Strider motto is to take what life gives you and stride forth boldly. Anything else will fall to the wayside and let you pass if you trust in your own power."
Atum Nakhti |
Atum nods to Karu. "Although I grew up in Rahamdoum, the land without gods, Karu's Bold Striding philosophy is one I can accept and laud."
Faldoc Tisbane |
Yeah, that's good and all, but where should we be striding to? We gotta figure out this maze thing, I get that, but I'd like to know more about what we're in for.
Karu the Bold Strider |
"If need be, let us head to the city and preach from the streets that we have come to challenge the Red Raven. Such a coward will likely not respond, but surely it will be easy to capture the assassins he will undoubtedly send for us." Karu reasons.
"They will surely have more information on the whereabouts of the Red Raven." Karu states as he remembers their initial charge. He move to find the elfen man and deduce the location of the Pale Maiden. Once he has found it among the carnage, Karu will hold on to it for safe keeping.
Adaxis |
I can track a mosquito fart on a breezy day. Just say da word when yer ready an' I'll find 'em. Maybe da worm holes lead back to a hideout.
Adaxis says while floating along side Bold Strider. Mousebane squawks once and flies overhead. He will begin scout the area in the tunnels.
Track, t10: 10 + 25 = 35
Mass fly is still active for almost 2 hours.
Faldoc Tisbane |
Meanwhile, Faldoc and Boomer will walk along with his floating friends.
Zandu K. Rool |
just some random rolls to potentially save time with the investigation

Zandu tries to help but is far too distracted with the "wellbeing" of the Venture-Captain to help that much.
Atum Nakhti |
(The GM is in Italy for over a week so it may be a while before we get an update.)
Zandu K. Rool |
"do not fret dearest Venture-Captain it will ruin your already flawless face" Zandu says as he makes his way towards the deceased venture captains room
I always wondered what skeletons a VC keeps in their closet
he ponders as he makes his way towards the room.
GM Tektite |
Zandu takes the advice of the venture captain and goes to search Adril's room. Inside he finds a map of Golarion’s Inner Sea region lies upon the
bed, red slashes marking the different locations. Next to the map rests a primitive greenstone idol carved in the likeness of an ape, a relic from Hestram’s nefarious plots in the Mwangi Expanse. A serpentine necklace resty upon the sitting table .
Zandu K. Rool |
whistling as he enters a room that dwarfs the one he shared with Karu Zandu before poking things that need not be poked. " I wonder how much some of these things are worth" he says as he glances over the map for any well hidden trade routes.
giving the green Ape a once over before putting it down and shaking his head " uggh monkeys have I ever told you how much I hate monkeys I would have thought that the recently deceased VC would have a better taste in décor" he says.
interesting fact Zandu's last name is drawn from the villain in the donkey Kong series. Also I will use my atrocious perception roll that I rolled earlier when searching for clues
Kynrac |
"No doubt these are worth much, but their first and foremost interest should lie in their archaeological value. Maybe we should check in the library to see if these past treasures have any connection to Hestram's recent demise."
Kynrac will do as he said and look for information in the library concerning the greenstone idol, the serpentine necklace, as well as the map. Yet first, he will ask Osprey and the other highups in the Lodge to see whether they know anything about these items.
Faldoc Tisbane |
Faldoc will agree to go and help with the search in the library. He motions to his companion Boomer to follow him, the dog looking and smelling about as he goes.
Adaxis |
Never split da party unless dey turned undead.
I don't have a library card. Do I need one? Adaxis turns from his path to join his friends.
Taking time for a 20 to search for clues?
Perception, t20: 20 + 39 = 59
Atum Nakhti |
Atum grunts. "Don't think so. We're Pathfinders and this is a Lodge, right?" The Living Monolith stands guards while the others search about.
Karu the Bold Strider |
Karu posts up next to Atum. "Books, huh? My daughter got on me to learn how to read those things. Ugh... Worst three weeks of my life. Would rather be back in the Land of the Linnorm Kings wrestling mammoths."
Atum Nakhti |
"I actually quite enjoy reading," Atum comments, "especially historical tomes. But now is not the time for study, we have a rebel to track."
Zandu K. Rool |
"Well spoken for a Man of action Mr. Bold Strider, I hear that the people up north bestow kingship to one who slays one of their "primal dragons".... very profitable if you have the talent for it Zanud says as he heads towards the library with the rest of the group.
"by the way is some one going to drag our recently deceased Venture-Captain to a healer to get resurrected?" Zandu say to no one in particular as he helps peruse books with the dwarf.
will auto aid Adaxis with perception
Karu the Bold Strider |
"Dragons... Not all they are cracked up to be." Karu states with a foul laugh. "The Bold Striders are primarily a mercenary organization to slay dragons in honor of the fallen in Belhaim, but most of my recruits work for the Society in order to gain experience combating all types of enemies."
GM Tektite |
Going to the library turns up liitle, though you find out some more information about the items you have recovered from Adril's room.
Zandu K. Rool |
Zandu tries to take his mind off gold to try to think on what the letters (initials?) next to the locations mean and if he has been to any trade ports around the marked areas.
know local TM: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

know local S: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
know local O: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
on a side note I really don't like the foreshadowing on that necklace. Also any bonus for being in a library? with those rolls I need it lol
Faldoc Tisbane |
Resurrection? Yeah, I bet they have the funds for that. Let's see about taking care of the dead. Faldoc agrees with this idea first and foremost.
Kynrac |
Knowledge (local) TM: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Knowledge (local) K: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Knowledge (local) S: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Knowledge (planes) O: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
Atum Nakhti |
Atum looks at the map and letters and guesses, "I think that resurrection will have to wait. It looks to me like our killer has a list and a plan. We should hurry before more lives are lost."
Zandu K. Rool |
nodding at the towering warriors plan Zandu speaks "well then we should bring this to the lady of the lodge maybe she will have knowledge and a way of transport for us.. I hear the weather in Cheliax is rather splendid this time of year."
Karu the Bold Strider |
"We must find the killer if he has other targets." Karu says in agreement with Atum. "Can anyone make sense of the list? TM is not Adril Hestram, nor is it any of the other Venture-Captains that I can think of."
GM Tektite |
As your team ponders the map and its meaning, Eliza send a summons asking to meet her on the rear lawn.......
Eliza and Osprey await you near the entrance to the Maze of the Open Road. Both look somber and contemplative. A smudge of ash on Eliza’s cheek and disgusting stains on Osprey’s already filthy garb hint at the chaos of not long ago. Eliza turns to you with a wistful sigh as Osprey speaks with a low, scratchy voice.
“This Red Raven struck at Adril Hestram for a reason. The truth is that we have suspected Hestram of treachery against the Pathfinder Society for months. The Decemvirate asked me to investigate personally. The Talespinning was not a prelude to Adril’s promotion, but rather a test of his loyalty.” She pauses, letting her words sink in. “A test,” Eliza says, “Adril Hestram appears to have failed.”
Osprey smiles, his thin lips showing comfort and humor belied by his penetrating, avian gaze. “It remains to be seen whether you, his most trusted field agents, may yet pass. Guilt by association is not fair, but in the Decemvirate’s eyes it is prudent, especially in these dangerous times. Your investigations thus far have proven you loyal Pathfinder agents. Venturing into the Maze of the Open Road and solving the mystery of Adril’s assassination will assure your loyalty to the Society, and will surely gain the approval of the Ten.”
Eliza steps forward, her hand curling into a triumphant fist. “I believe in you. I have since the first day we met. Go into the maze. Learn what you can of the Red Raven’s operation and how it ties in with Hestram. Come back and report to us, and we will coordinate our next move.”
