Pratavh |
Did Hirati see the people being armed and waiting for a fight, or did they seem more worried/scared.
Hirati Sense Motive if needed.: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Lilly Hennett |
"What's going on guys, more unfriendly people in need of being taught manners?", she asks with a grin.
Pratavh |
Hoping to avoid anymore hostilities, Pratavh calls up, "We are agents of the government with a writ to investigate the murders, are you going to fight us or talk with us? I do not know about you, but I would prefer to avoid more needless fighting."
Mohktar sē Bāharaurori |
how high is it? Could I high jump into the room?
Edit: Might as well roll something...
Mohktar nods agreement. Perhaps they can avoid further bloodshed. He puts away his crowbar and dusts himself off, then pulls his Sansektu, clutching the weapon in his right hand. Then he calls up to the attic.
"We've felled the Rhakshasa, the serpent beast and the acolytes. Please, for all your dedication to this job, those employing you have failed at every turn. Surrender."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Mohktar looks to Alwyn, "Can you translate?"
If the workers, etc al cannot understand common, perhaps Alwyn can use my above roll as an aid another?
Alwyn of the Brazzen Peaks |
"Hama Rhakshasa, nāgina jānavara aura acolytes girāyā gayā hai. Isa kāma kē li'ē apanē sabhī samarpaṇa kē li'ē, yadi āpa rōjagāra kē una hara mōṛa para viphala rahē haiṁ kr̥payā. Ātmasamarpaṇa."
Alwyn calls out for Mohktar
diplomacy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
DM Fang Dragon |
Yes you could jump up, it's a fairly low ceiling but you'd need to make a DC 15 acrobatics roll to do do.
Silence is the response to your diplomatic entreaties, that and an arrow that thuds deeply into the floor near Mohktar.
Hirati reports the scene upstairs looks like this.
Pratavh |
Looking at his companions, "Well, I tried to talk to them." With that, Pratavh says a few words and obscure gestures causing sparkling dust to appear in the room above.
I cast glitter dust into the room above before anyone goes up there. Will save DC19.
DM Fang Dragon |
Pratavh look at the map here and tell me which square you want to cast the spell on. Remember you need line of sight to do so.
Pratavh |
Eep! Didn't realize where the door was in the room in relation to all of them. If acceptable I won't do that then.
DM Fang Dragon |
Sure that's np. You actually could get line of sight from a bit to the left of where Hirati is on the map (there is a small hole up in the rafters) but beware they have bows.
DM Fang Dragon |
There are plenty of crates you could pile up. Also it would be possible to use a rope plus grappling hook if you have one.
Lilly Hennett |
GM, i'm back on 64 hp after a self heal on the previous page, but it's not yet on the battlemap. ;)
Alwyn of the Brazzen Peaks |
"Mohktar I can make you as Shiro when he doesn't wish to be seen. It will last plenty of time until you attack. I can do this for two. Lilly you could use the second, Shiro apologies but you seem to be able to disappear at will quite well without my help."
Gm can Hirati tell if the door to the main area is open and can Alwyn reach the rafters from the big crate in the main room?
DM Fang Dragon |
The rafters are quite big, you could walk along them although the roof is low in places. @Lilly will do when I get to a computer.
DM Fang Dragon |
You hear movement from above and there's an avian "Raawk!" from above and in broken common a chittery voice calls out in broken common, "Fools! Face me if you dare." After that there's a great flapping of wings and sounds of feet running along the rafters.
You have 1 round of non-combat actions if you wish to buff before, events will overtake matters.
A note about the maps, I've made the tokens for those on the other level transparent. Hopefully that will help you get an understanding of where everyone is. This fight may get tricky since it's in 3D.

I don't think the jump will be a problem for Shiko and I. ;)
Mohktar nods to Alwyn's offer. Then glances over to Shiko and bows once. "Together, my friend. Let our obstacles fall to serenity."[/smaller]
To Alwyn, he leans in to his ear and whispers, [smaller]"When you hear the sounds of engagement, make you way up. We shall guard your entry as best we can."
Once the spell is cast, Mohktar focuses his body upon silence and movement. Then he taps Shiko once in the shoulder and makes his jump...
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 20 = 52 (invisibility)
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
DM Fang Dragon |
Pre-combat actions:
Alywn: Cast invisibility on Mohktar.
Mohktar: Jump upstairs with grace, while perfectly invisible.
Skikyo: ?
Lilly: ?
Pratavh: ?
Mohktar jumps upstairs to see the cramp attic room, which is set in the slanted space between the roof and the rafters of the room below. A large, nestlike structure made from silk cloth and pieces of wood occupies the center of the room. Other furnishings include a desk and trunk against the inner wall and a barrel in the corner. He notices a strangely beautiful flying creature with an unusual looking bow in the room to the left. One pair of workers are on the rafters with bows drawn. Another pair of workers have their daggers out blocking the route onto the rafters from the attic room.
Mohktar hears spell casting from the avian creature.
Pratavh |
Pratavh decides something defensive is a wise idea and casts a spell, vanishing from sight.
Hirati, get out of the building. If things go badly let our employer know what we found and what happened to us.
I cast vanish on myself leaving me invisible for 5 rounds.
DM Fang Dragon |
Pre-combat actions:
Alywn: Cast invisibility on Mohktar.
Mohktar: Jump upstairs with grace, while perfectly invisible.
Skikyo: Vanish and jump upstairs while getting 4 10's and 2 9's in the gymnastics competition.
Lilly: ?
Pratavh: Cast Vanish
Lilly Hennett |
Lilly taps the boys on the shoulder, casting protection from evil (commune). Like Pratavh, she keeps out of sight for this round, perhaps the workers will come closer first.
DM Fang Dragon |
Alwyn yes you can reach the rafters from there. It would require a roll but it wouldn't be particularly hard. Did you put inspire up too? You spoke about that before but you didn't explicitly say so just now.
Lilly casted protection from evil on everyone before Mohktar and Shiro jumped upstairs.
Can the heroes defeat the leader of the Niswan's cultists?
Initiative rolls:
Alwyn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Lilly: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Pratavh: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Shikyomaru: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

I wasn't sure if you let me put it up for Pratavh's spell but I would have had to drop it for the invisibility spell - I did charge of a round of it against my daily. Lilly did you want the invisibility as well?"
If allowed, Alwyn cast Haste on everyone as he has a good distance to run to get back in position and we know we have an unknown entity in the birdlike creature Hirati described.
If I'm reading the map correctly its about a 150' back to the top left corner of the large crate - looking at the map - in the main room, does that match what you see GM?"
DM Fang Dragon |
Up to you whether you put inspire up or not. You did specifically mention putting it up before, and it's just a move action for you so you can have it up before combat starts if you like. And yes it's 30 squares of movement to get there.

Mohktar sees the creature chanting away and knows magic is afoot. In an effort to distract the creature, he

Lilly I'm fine using the invisibility on you so you can get in position without being a pincushion going through the trapdoor. If not,I'm going to use it for mirror image
GM between the invisibility/ies and haste, let me know what was actually made before the round 1 start.
DM Fang Dragon |
You got the invisibility off. I'm letting you have inspire up, if you want it, (since it's just a move action) too since you asked to put that previously. If you want haste or another invisibility you must do that in round 1.
Alwyn of the Brazzen Peaks |
Thats cool, was making sure; we'll go with the inspire being up as well, round 9 of 23, I'll base my next post on what Lilly decides"
Lilly Hennett |
Sorry, my browser wouldn't let me select an alias, aside from my main, to post with. Plus i was watching a show that was on the recorder.
If possible, (invisible) Lilly heads to Q12, if they get to Pratavh, they'll have to get past her as well.
DM Fang Dragon |
Lilly you can move to Q12 but you don't currently have invisibility. Let me know if that changes what you want to do.
DM Fang Dragon |
Alwyn & Pratavh can post actions :)
Alwyn of the Brazzen Peaks |
Can you see through the rafters to where the bowmen are from the main floor?
DM Fang Dragon |
Yes, although it's somewhat dark up there (not so much as to cause miss chance).
Alwyn of the Brazzen Peaks |
Alwyn will cast invisibility on Lilly before picking of his bardic performance(inspire courage +2/+2)
"With arrows falling down around the heroes, they smote the birds of night from the sky sending them back to the depths of whatever hell had spawned them"
Or
Alwyn moves to where he can see one of the bowmen(red?) in the rafters casting grease(DC16) on his bow.

Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37
Utkroza looks directly at Shikyo and Mohktar chuckles evilly, "Fooolllss RAWK!" and hops backwards away from the pair and unleashes a storm of electrically charged arrows! A pair of which thud deeply into Mohktar's chest and another hits Shikyo deeply in the left arm, but the final shot misses by a mile!
Deadly Aim, Manyshot, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot
Manyshot: Mohktar: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 11 + (4) = 17
Manyshot: Mohktar: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 11 + (3) = 19
Shikyo: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 11 + (4) = 18
Shikyo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 11 + (4) = 18
This guy has a whole load of buff spells he can cast, luckily for you he has hasn't bothered with most of them...
The workers seem puzzled and they beseech Utkroza, "Jahāṁ vē guru haiṁ?!", as they rush to his defense, jumping from rafter to rafter!
Yellow acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Red acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Green acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Blue acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Shikyo and Mohtar have amazing CMD scores so all of those moves triggered an AOO if you want to take it. Of course neither of you have Combat Reflexes so you only get one AOO each. Let me know who your victims are! Caveat: Mohktar I think you can only hit yellow. Shikyo you can hit any of them since they all went past you.

No AoO from me so I can maintain invisibility and do this...
Mohktar bats the first arrow shot aside (Deflect Arrows - 17 pts negated)...
》Sense Motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 (snake style - miss)
...attempts to weave out of the way of the second shot but cannot avoid it (snake style)...
He grits his teeth against the pain and leaps forward to land next to the feathered fiend (Tumble thru G11/12 then to G13/14). Once there, the monk attempts to grapple it.
》Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25 (maintain balance)
》Grapple: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 = 28 (CMB, IC)
If grapple is successful..he chooses the Damage action to follow up:
Damage: 1d10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 2 = 14
DM Fang Dragon |
OHH so close, literally 1 point off. Also Utkroza has displacement, so please roll for miss chance.
Miss% 0-49 = miss, 50-100 = hit: 1d100 ⇒ 66 ---> Possible hit.
Mohktar manages to bat one arrow away and he makes a heroic leap and very very nearly manages to grapple Utkroza! But in the end rather than getting a firm grip on the strange avian he ends up with a bunch of feathers. Utkroza screeches at the indignity!
