I have a suggestion for getting Ruhk involved-
He might just happen to be wherever the next important story event is going to take place, and he might just stick his nose into the situation because thats the sort of fellow he is.
Seems like that would be true to the character that we've seen him so far, and would be the least complex way of going about getting the party together. I'm sure Ruhk can come up with some kind of personal motivation for staying with the group once we all get an idea of the direction the story will take us.
Feel free to ignore this. I'm just brainstorming.

I think we're all out the door and headed in the same direction now, but we are still a bit fragmented. The main group could have an RP scene, but the rest of us are just following.
I kinda like that the party isn't immediately together. It makes the story feel extremely organic. Much more believable than how most games start.

I am staying with the group, quietly following, keeping an eye on them in case they get into trouble. I don't just want to walk up and say "hi, I'm following you because Val still thinks you're a child"

The pace is a little slow. I think we are waiting too long for people to post. Unless it is absolutely imperative that a particular character respond, I think it would be a good idea to give everyone a 24 hour window to respond before pushing forward.
Other than the slow pace, I'm really enjoying the story.

Okay guys, I will work on keeping the story moving a little faster. I'd like to start implementing the requested posting rate I posted in the recruitment thread. I'd really like to see a post once every other day from folks who are active in the thread. I understand if there is something that comes up in life, but please just drop a short "Sorry, can't post today." in the Discussion thread.
As far as this part of the adventure goes, it does not necessarily have to be only one person asking questions. If any of your characters have questions for Laurel, then feel free to get a post in!

As a player, I want to ask Zilka, Zirren, Belladona, and Graysen, if we should, as a group approach Kreed and get permission to explore the well, maybe there are caves down there that we can explore, find out what’s behind the situation, or if not, then
I would ask Zilka’s and Zirren’s players to tell me what they think we can do to get Graysen and Belladonna interested in an expedition to the Dwarven Monastery ruins.
I am ready to roll out of here as soon as we can.

Need to catch up. Daughter better but yesterday I was involved in a hit and run. Old lady merged in front of me and breaked harder than I could slow down. Then she ran. Chased her and her licenses plate number and called the police but waited over an hour for them to arrive then left. Not much damage to my car bumper and a dent on hers. Still a pain in the butt.

I realize that there may be players with other ideas about how we go about creating cohesion among the characters (or even the possibility that some players do not think cohesion is necessary) but in my last post I'm just trying to see if it is time to form a "party of adventurers". Maybe we can go back to the Duck, and introduce ourselves proper, to each other.

Also guys, I spoke with Zirren via PM and he's staying pretty busy trying to get caught back up with everything. Therefore, I'll be DMPC'ing Zirren until things slow down for him.
I'm going to let you guys make your plans on how you want to proceed at this point. Just to let you guys know, there's not really anything left to do in town other than to make your plans. I'm going to post some distances/travel times from Falcon's Hollow to the locations which you all know to assist in your decision making. (I just need to check my notes first lol)

Falcon's Hollow to the Dwarven Monastery - 24 miles, 12 hours of travel at 20' movement rate / 8 hours at 30'.
Falcon's Hollow to the Witch's Hut - 18 miles, 9 hours of travel at 20' movement rate / 6 hours at 30'.

Reference the animals, I would say yes there should be a few ponies or at least mules/donkeys that could rented at "reasonable" price.
Zirren would let you guys know that to reach the Witch's Hut and the Dwarven Monastery, you will have to travel around the river and lake to get to either. Just an fyi... Ruhk would know that the logging camp is currently at the southeast edge of The Woods near the eastern border of the lake...

I'm pushing things forward to the discussion of what we are going to do. I figure Caine's little side seen can cover the main discussion that happened at the table, so we can cut to the chase, have our more in-depth party introductions, and then head out to get any supplies we need before we tackle our first adventure.

Hey guys, I've been thinking about the potential for Story Feats and wanted to see if you guys were interested in them for your characters. If so, I would grant you all a free Story Feat as I think they can add some great fun to campaign as well as provided a nice little boost.
Lastly, not sure if I covered my thoughts on Taking 10/20. I am all for allowing Take 10 in almost all situations. Active combat is the only time when I may not allow someone to Take 10. Taking 20 is also allowed for characters if interested. I was thinking about opening up Ability checks as well to the Take 10/20 rules. The way I look at it... so you're doing a Str check to move an object, if you put all your muscle into your effort and taking time to do it properly, then I see no reason for a random die roll to make things "more interesting". Unless you guys would rather stick with the traditional methods, which is okay with me.
Overland Travel - Normally the limit is 8 hours of overland travel per day. I think that's a little limiting and would allow an additional 4 hours with a short rest period of at least 30 minutes, but not requiring more than 60 minutes. This under the assumption of easy traveling, so far harsher environments it would be different. Forced marches and similar situations would still be limited and require the requisite saves and such.
