Would any of you be interested to see about continuing with a substitute GM? If you are all OK with it I can post to Flaxseed and look for either a replacement or a temporary GM until Evil returns.
Wyrgan Goodheart |
I would give it until Thursday before looking for a replacement. He did say he was having wifi issues and may switch providers. If after thursday no word then I would say yes.
Rhuul Irontoe |
I've seen another post, I think from him, in another game. He's only just getting networks back
GM Evil |
Ok guys. I switched providers, under the promise of no lapse in service, and then got a lapse in service. Turns out they needed to run cable to my block. Anyway, I'm back and will get updated today. Thanks for your patience!

Hey guys. I think I'm going to be dropping from this table. I've come to a point where my current games in progress are coming to a close and I'm deciding what I'm going to be GMing next. I've been trying to decide how much I'm willing to commit to, and the uncertainty about this game has been weighing pretty heavily into that. Between this and other games I'm already committed to, I've been curtailing my GM efforts under the worry that if this were to restart full bore I would not be able to keep up with everything. You should have enough of a table (and a solid enough party) to continue on in my absence.
GM Evil |
I'm going through a harse slog of real life myself. I had to drop out of GM'ing in the Blood Under Absalom special already but I'm trying to stay caught up on everything that I can. I am going to be trying for at least one post a day from here on out, but I would like to do two. Sorry to hear you may be dropping Korai, but I completely understand.
Rhuul Irontoe |
A slower pace works well for me at the moment, as I probably have too many games on anyway.
Sihir Aneh |
My Internet connection's down (I'm posting from a local cafe), and will apparently be that way for the next few days, so if my post rate seems to slow down, that's why. I'll do my best to keep up, though.
Sihir Aneh |
How much longer do we think we should wait?
I just sent Korai a message suggesting he could come back if we wound up with a replacement DM who could sustain a faster pace.
Rhuul Irontoe |
I was just thinking the same. With the okay from the rest of you I'll put in a note to the Flaxseed lodge.
Sihir Aneh |
Do so, then - and Korai says he would indeed come back if we find a faster DM!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I'll shoot Evil a PM as well, just so he knows what's going on. Assuming nobody has an issue with me taking over that is. So we are all on the same page, I just want to verify that this is a classic game and you are playing low tier, correct? There also seems to be a question as to whether or not Korai is continuing on with the game or not. Do we have a status on that?
GM Turmoil |
I've read over your play so far as well as your characters, and I believe I'm ready to go. I will start it off with a quick recap of the mission and what you've done so far.
Korai Shardwing |
Sorry, let me get you my paper sheet info tonight. Most of his mundane ammo is at home, I just bought a bunch of it one session so I didn't have to worry about tracking gp for ammunition every scenario. He has an endless bandolier which is basically a bag of holding for bullets, powder, and guns. I just assume it's full to the brim of ammo at the start of the scenario and the rest of his mundane bullets are left at the lodge. I actually did calculate his total weight at one point and had him at a light load. I'll recalculate that once I've got his paper sheets in hand.
Edit: Whoa, now that you mention it, that inventory list looks to be 2 scenarios old for Korai. I'll definitely audit that when I get home. Don't worry about being the bad guy on that. I rarely audit other people's sheets for encumbrance, but I have 2 STR dump characters, both of which I take the time to work down to a light load.
GM Turmoil |
It wasn't really the ammo, it was all the weapons and alchemical items that stood out to me. I mean, just the studded leather and a blunderbuss puts you into a medium load. Let darkleaf cloth be your friend :). I've got a wayang Investigator with 10 Str that likes to carry around every item he may ever need, so I understand the struggle.
GM Evil |
Hey guys, glad to see you got everything sorted. I've run into one hell of a real life snafu, and have basically been living out of my car for the last week or so. That means no wifi, and no access to my laptop to continue running games. Hopefully everything gets better on the first, and I can actually have a house again. Anyway, I apologize profusely for being so absent. Happy gaming!
Rhuul Irontoe |
Glad to see you okay (if living out of car).
When folk drop out I always worry a bit. Best wishes for the SNARFU resolution.
Korai Shardwing |
I checked my inventory tracking sheets and updated the profile sheet... boy this one is a mess. He's my -1... apparently my bookkeeping was awful then. So long as he doesn't wear his armor he'll be under a light load. It looks like I had a note to get muleback cords and then never bought them for some reason. Despite having 7600gp floating around. Most of his tools are in a handy haversack which he'll have limited access too, but in total it looks like he's personally carrying the following:
Courtier's Outfit - 6 lbs
Endless Bandolier - 2 lbs
Handy Haversack - 5 lbs
Dagger - 1 lb
Pepperbox - 5 lb
10 rounds of ammo/powder - about 1 lb
Total 20 lb
GM Turmoil |
Sorry to cause you such a hassle. Like I said, I don't normally bother with weight, except when strength is dumped. Having a Handy Haversack definitely helps, and you could always get your studded leather made with darkleaf cloth, it cuts the weight in half and really doesn't cost much. The problem with muleback cords IMO is they take up your shoulder slot so you can't have a cloak.
Korai Shardwing |
That might explain why I never got them... I got the cloak from serpent's rise instead. It looks like I originally split his inventory into 'things that are in my bandolier' 'things I drop when combat starts' and 'things that I carry.'
Unfortunately I never included his clothes in that anywhere, which is the crux of the problem. Looks like I had marked down 20 lb for armor, 5 lb for gun, 2 lb for bandolier, drop the haversack during combat. My other 8 Str character was a caster...
After this scenario I think I'll get him darkleaf armor, change his outfit to a lighter one, and get a wand of ant haul for long treks. This character is surprisingly poorly equipped now that I think about it...
Rhuul Irontoe |
No worries. I'd stopped posting during hte disruption so the delay is much appreciated.

I feel I must ask, GM Turmoil: Why a pig (Squealy Nord, if I'm not mistaken) avatar?
Also, what's the ambient light level here and now? It makes a big difference for some of my spells.
GM Turmoil |
If you've ever read Animal Farm then you would understand why a pig would make a good GM avatar.
The entire demi-plane is dark but Maldoc cast light. I'm going under the assumption that one of you just keep casting it now. So a 20 ft radius of normal light, and another 20 ft of dim light past that.

I'm certainly familiar with the book and saw the film version once. I did not think of that.

By the way, I can give rage to a couple of folk if they want it. +2 to STR and con, +1 to will and -2 to AC.
Might be helpful if there are two handed folk around, every bit helps. Let me know and I'll do it next round if desired.

Question: I happen to have a few 5th-level spells in my spellbook, even though I can't cast 5th-level spells yet. Could I use my Arcane Bond to cast one of those spells?
