Hardy: Dwarves receive a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison, spells, and spell-like abilities.

Even if it's only to your Will save, though, that's a base of +6, +2 for Hardy, +1 for PfE, +2 for heroism, for a total of +11 to your Will save. You rolled an 8, add 11 gives 19, and you made the Will save and took no damage at all.

ETA: Wait, that's weird. It looks like HL adds the Hardy bonus to all of your Will saves, not just vs. spells and SLAs. And the bonus really has to accrue to all saves, or poison wouldn't be included in its coverage--saves vs. poison are always Fort.

As far as I understand that bonus would apply to any type of save against a spell source.

I'm guessing it does not add automatically to Fort and Reflex because of diseases and traps that have those saves. I guess all Will saves are generated by some type of spell or spell-like ability.

If Brelar is correct, I make it and I've posted in Gameplay with my awesome attack. Might change what the enemy does since I can get to her.

Looking at the entry for alchemical cartridges, the increased misfire value depends on the type of cartridge. The most basic, paper, increases it by one.

It is a little known fact that casting Summon Mike Shel during a Mike Shel adventure has the same effects as combining a Portable Hole and a Bag of Holding.

And now everyone dies. Thanks for playing! :)

Although if things turn south in the final fight Emraeal will not hesitate to use that as a last resort.

That is the most broken cantrip ever. And must be exhausting for you.

On an only tangentially related topic, how do you add custom traits in HeroLab? AFAICT, there's no explicit way to get the campaign traits from the AP player guides.

HeroLab has all the campaign traits. If you go through the Configure Hero tab, the window that pops up allowing you to pick which books/rules. Campaign traits are near the bottom.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

So that was a big accomplishment and you've pretty much completed your goal for this book. So, first of all, level up to eight!

Second of all, there are only two worthwhile encounters left in this book. Since you have the Shard, I'm happy to let you guys leave the dungeon and we can move on to the next book. However, there may be some treasure associated with those two encounters so if you want to go back and finish the dungeon, we can certainly do that.

Finally, since we're finished with the overall goal of this book, I will be handing out chronicle sheets soon. I'll post it today so you can have a look at it before you decide who to apply it to.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

And here is the chronicle sheet!

Think it over and let me know who you're applying it to.

With my Reign of Winter group it's easy to decide because the boons stack so everyone wants to put the credit on the same player. With these, since you can only use one shard at a time, it might make more sense to put them on different characters. I think the sheet for book 5 or 6 lets you use two shards at once but that's a long ways a way. I went ahead and put it on the same character because I couldn't think of anyone else who could reasonably live with the curses of the shards. But it's up to you guys who you want to apply it to.

Male Dwarf Fighter (Two-Handed) [17] : HP:189/189 | AC 41 T 22 FF 37 | CMB +30 (+34 sunder) CMD 47 (51 vs trip/disarm, 55 vs sunder) | F +22 (+24 vs poison) R +19 W +16; all +4 vs spell/SLA/effect to lose weapon | Init +6 | Perc +13 | EA +18 | Climb/Swim +11

Hmmm, I can go either way. Treasure is always good but if you folks wanna hit Book 3 right away that's fine too.

The character doesn't have to use a shard power, correct? Since I actually have a 7th level character now I think I'll apply this chronicle to him as long as that is true. This way I'll have an 8th level character, woo-hoo!

Apply to Faldoc Tisbane #79644-2 (Andoran).

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Yeah, you don't have to use the shard power of you don't want to. If you never use the power you don't suffer the curse so if you don't like this one you can ignore it.

HP 107*/107* | AC 32| T 16| FF 28| CMD 14| Fort +14*| Ref +22| Will +15 (+2 vs. fear, neg energy effects)| Init +4 (+2 underground)| Perc +29/+34 w/lens (+2 underground)| Sense Motive +20 Male Halfling Archaeologist Bard15/Mysterious Stranger Gunslinger1/Inspired Blade Swashbuckler1

Argust is leveled to 8! I did retrain one feat by dumping Desperate Battler and I picked up Improved Critical. Now I have a 17-20 crit range. Should be fun.

Quick question : In your opinion would you rather have Great Cleave or Lunge?

I vote to finish the other two encounters. I won't be able to fully level Karn until Wed., but I think I'll be able to do quick level.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a reason to use lunge, so I'd say great cleave?

And yes, extra encounters :)

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Ok, we'll continue on soon then. I'll move us on tomorrow.

@Karn: if you don't have time to level until you're done traveling, don't worry. You're supposed to level 7 for these encounters anyways. But I thought beating "Sorshen" was worthy enough for leveling.

*I think Bert already mentioned it in gameplay, but in case you didn't catch it, the murals in the room with the demons that killed Bert implied that Sorshen is actually buried beneath Korvosa but there were other hints throughout the dungeon that she had one loyal servant left behind, Ashamintallu, who was the one you actually fought and has been disguised as Sorshen for some time. I think there were hints earlier that she was a succubus (which makes sense for the Runelord of Lust) but she was actually only half-succubus. The giantess who claimed to be SORSHEN! was just crazy and Ashamintallu let the giantess keep up her delusions.

Cool! I got my doctorate there, and if I could have found a job in my field we would have stayed--still have lots of friends there. Who are you going to be working for? One of my college gaming friends *mumble* years ago got her PhD working for Fred Blattner; I see he's apparently still hard at work on E. coli (and more power to him!), but as an emeritus--not sure if he's still taking on students.

I don't remember seeing that name so I'm guessing that he's not taking students anymore. I don't know who I'm working with yet; the Genetics program has a rotation during the first semester so I don't need to decide for quite some time. During the first week the faculty looking to take on new students give presentations about their research and then you rotate between 3-4 labs that fall and make your final decision in December.

Seugathi are truly grim monsters, and probably at the very top of the CR 6 power range. I almost had a TPK with one when I threw it at a 4th level party--I hadn't been running PF that long, so I had just looked at the CR. Figured CR+2 is a challenging encounter, and this was essentially the boss fight of an area, so I pulled it out. It was bad.

It's a 30' range around the creature. The real problem with the thing is its confusion command ability--it can pick out one creature affected by its aura and choose its result on the confusion effects table. Very nasty if there are lots of people in melee range; it slides back 5' then tells the toughest enemy affected to attack the nearest creature. If possible, it's best to fight these things out in the open and use missile weapons on them.

Mwoo ah ah! As a GM I'm beginning to love Mike Shel adventures more and more, lol! Reading through Tomb of the Iron Medusa to run on Monday and I think I'll be giving the OP'd party a little more challenge than they're used to. Academy of Secrets was a lot of fun but I think only one encounter went beyond two rounds and we finished in one session rather than the two sessions it usually takes us for modules. Also Tomb just has some really cool investigative/discovery stuff that I think they're going to enjoy.
