They had three mwk longswords that you can take.

Miana manages to avoid both blows, but she's still somewhat shaken from her previous battle.
"Good job, everyone.", the paladin trying to be positive despite her poor performance.
She then makes sure everyone is ready before heading back upstairs.

Lucian Arvandru |

The moment it becomes clear that we're about to reach the top, Lucian will stop and cast a few spells. Not sure if we're there yet or not.

Sealman Alerteyes |

Seal tries to stop Kufieno before he discharges the spell.
"Can't you just 'hold' on to that until we find more baddies? I know we have at least one more.
"Unless you have to wee-wee or poo-poo. Then I understand. Those things are hard to do with one paw"
Once the party is ready to move on, Seal begins to hum to himself.
"Hi-ho, hi-ho..."

"Well, you can always shake my hand.", Miana grins.

Lucian Arvandru |

Lucian starts warding the party with various spells, praying Desna for luck.
"Desna, revered star-traveller, grant us your protection and guidance in the upcoming battle. Let our souls remain free of evil influences and taint."
Casting:
Protection from Evil on Sealman and Kufieno: +2 deflection to AC, +2 resistance to saves, protection against domination/possession by evil creature, summoned creature can't hurt you with their natural weapons until you attack first.

Keeping the scroll of breath of life in the shield hand, if that's possible, otherwise at the belt.

A rickety makeshift wooden staircase has been haphazardly nailed into place around the outside of the next two levels, eventually taking you to the very top of the tower.
The smoky, filthy rooftops of Underbridge sprawl below this dizzying perch. The conical roof supports an onyx statue of an angel. Towering like a god, her weathered features are caked with grime, making her seem almost demonic in countenance. At the far end of the hollow space under the roof, in the angel’s shadow, is a nest of cushions, silk sheets, and a line of several small chests.
At first the place appears empty. . . until a demon appears in midair floating straight for Sealman!

Everyone gains a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks, while each of our foes takes a –1 penalty on such rolls.

Kufieno |

Kufieno would have used the wand of mage armor on himself and whoever else, Rissi?, probably.
Kufieno darts past Miana, circles toward the rear of the creature, and reaches out to touch it.

Yep, your mage armor should still be up.
Rissi recognizes it as dretch, a demon that (like most) resists damage from weapons that are not cold iron or good-aligned. It is immune to electricity and poison and resists the other major elements. They can emit stinking clouds.
She also knows that dretches can not teleport like many greater demons can but there are still a myriad of ways it could have shown up here.

Without targeting a specific target, I believe detect evil takes 3 rounds of concentration just like detect magic. It is only a move action when you are checking one specific target. So you can start doing it now but won't be able to pinpoint her for a while.

![]() |

@Endless: Whoops, you're half right; it looks like I can do either a standard detect evil as a move action that works as you noted above, or as a move action I can look at a single object or creature and get the equivalent of 3 rounds of study on that thing to determine its evilness. However, since I can't see the target, I'd be stuck using the standard detect evil. Still, I'll continue the spell and at least know if there's evil right now and keep it up in future rounds.

That was my fault everybody. I was in the middle of the post when I moved Seal further into the room, then I got called away. I wasn't able to finish my post until I got home, but I had already moved icon. If EF has mercy on us, Seal was close enough to include everybody in the Haste spell. Then that would allow Lucian only a single move to get into position and still have a standard left over. Sorry for the confusion!
Thanks to his Hasted feet, Sealman dodges away from the second strike at the last movement, only catch the last swing in his leg. He spits out some blood and growls, "That's all you got, b!tch?"

The impaler of thorns is an ancient weapon dating back to Thassilonian times, when it was often used by city guards to aid in breaking up civil unrest. An impaler’s shaft is made of darkwood, and its head is a thornlike, wide-bladed barb. When an impaler of thorns is used in combat, its successful critical hits are accompanied by an unsettling screech, as of some wild beast in anger.
An impaler of thorns is a +1 longspear. Once per day as it strikes a foe, the wielder can cause it (as a free action) to unleash a 30-foot-radius burst of despair that affects all creatures not wielding an impaler of thorns. Creatures affected must succeed at DC 16 Will saves or become overwhelmed with sadness and despair, taking –2 penalties on attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls for 6 minutes. The target struck when this effect is triggered must also succeed at a second DC 16 Will save to resist becoming nauseated with despair for 1 round.

This medallion hangs on a leather cord, a silver disc inscribed with the Sihedron. These medallions were given to favored agents of the runelords; the medallions granted some minor benefits to the wearers.
While worn, a Sihedron medallion grants its wearer a +1 resistance bonus on all saving throws. Once per day, as a free action, it may be commanded to bestow the effects of false life on the wearer. Placed on the neck of a dead body, a Sihedron medallion preserves the body indefinitely via a gentle repose effect.
Xanesha keeps all of these treasures spread between seven locked chests (these chests can be opened with the keys she carries) set neatly in a row against the far wall.
The first five chests each contain coins, kept in small leather pouches in denominations of 100 coins per pouch. In all, there is 33,000 cp, 8,100 sp, 900 gp, and 100 pp spread throughout these first several chests. The sixth chest contains 4,200 gp of various bits of jewelry and small pouches of gemstones. The seventh chest contains four potions of cure moderate wounds, a +2 Small kukri, a ring of jumping, and a golembane scarab.
But the greatest treasure to be found here is not hidden among the chests. You notice a crumpled-up wad of parchment in the southwest corner of the room:
My sister—
I trust your little band of murderers is doing well, gathering the greedy souls for our Lord’s rise? Has Magnimar proven to be as sinful as you had hoped? It may interest you to know that my plan to nurture greed here in this backwater has blossomed—the quality of greed in a soul is so much more refined when it is given the proper care.
Are you still simply carving the Sihedron on them as they expire? How crude! My method of marking is so much more elegant. In any event, I’m sure that your plans for harvesting greed where and when you can find it “in the wild” are progressing well enough—I just hope that your raw, ungroomed, and likely inferior victims don’t interact poorly when mixed with the purity of my own subjects. If you tire of your little project there, know that you’re always welcome to come to Turtleback Ferry and serve as my assistant, little sister! Fort Rannick should be in our control by the time you receive this letter, in any event, so there’ll be plenty of room for you if you wish to take me up on my generous offer.
Oh! Before I forget! Have you managed to harvest that lord-mayor yet? By all accounts, he might just be the cream of the crop in Magnimar—his soul might even rival several from my hand-grown harvest!

"Hmmm... seems we should inform the mayor of this development. And it seems this cult exists beyond Magnimar.", Miana sighs. "The work of justice is neverending.", she quotes, clenching a fist before relaxing it and smiling at her companions. "But it seems we have at least stopped things here in this city. You all have performed admirably and I thank you for your companionship during this journey.", bowing to the party.

Kufieno |

Kufieno lets his claws and fangs retract, then claps Seal on the back. "My, my, that was a terrific show of brute strength! I admit to be worried, but it appears to be all for naught!"
