Why didn't I think of that? Your brain is getting slow, Lucian! You'd better think of something else than girls all day long...

Rissi throws back her dark hood, revealing a face that looks like a giant, black rat. Her fur is laced with ribbons and golden earrings dangle from her ears.
She pulls off her glove to reveal pale pink hands ending in underdeveloped claws. She draws her claws across her skin, drawing her skin tight and squeaks manically .
"My face... it's on my face. *squeak* by Abadar, it's not there, I know its not there... please, friends stop me. The spirit, it wants me to claw my own *chhhh* face off. Please stop me. Oh god, I must *chhh* get it off..."
Rissi looks at the rest with pleading black eyes.

Sealman Alerteyes |

Mortal terror runs across Seal's face at the newly reviled Rissi.
"Oh no! This cursed house is turning her into a mousey! I'll save you"
Seal drops his blade and clasps his frying pan sized hands around Rissi's pink paws. He then stares Rissi in the eyes trying to redirect her attention.
"You will be OK. Just look at me and breath. I have you."

Lucian Arvandru |

Lucian also darts off to help pin down Rissi and save her from herself.
Weird... though this would explain many things. She must really have been furious about that slain diseased rat!

"You can *squeak* let me go now. I am myself again. And no, I am not "turning into" a mouse. I am, and always have been, *chhhh* Shuren; what you would call ratfolk. "

"'Ratfolk'? I cannot say I have heard of your kind. You will have to tell me more about your upbringing when we are done here.", Miana showing a genuine interest into the little wizard.
Helping Rissi up and dusting her off, the paladin mentions, "I can only imagine what occurred here to cause such evil to resonate for so long."

Lucian Arvandru |

"It's a true wonder, Rissi! I've been reading up on your kind, and I must admit I'm very excited to meet one. Well, technically I've known you for some time now, of couse. Just like Miana, I'd love to hear about you, your origins and what it means to be ratfolk."

Hidetsugu Rissi |

"I would be happy to tell you more friends, although I do not wish it to become *chhhhh* the primary factor in our interactions."
"My kind prefer their privacy, and find that many *chhh* humanoids do not understand our talents or skill; they *sssss* think we are mere beasts and plague-bearers. So we hide; cloaks, illusions and shadows. It is better this way."
She pulls her own cloak up to obscure her features once more. "Perhaps now that you know my *squeak* secret, I could introduce you to my family. My sisters would enjoy *chhh* meeting you I think. They do get out so rarely in Sandpoint."

EndlessForms |

Ah! The revelation at last! Let me know when you are ready to move on.

Kufieno |

Kufieno squints and peers a Rissi for moment, then shrugs. "No worries here Miss Rissi. I'd love to meet your family sometime." It must be nice to know who your family is....
Kufi is ready.

The room in the corner of the second floor proves to be the master bedroom, although this once fine chamber has been destroyed. The bed is smashed, mattress torn apart, walls gouged as if by knives, chairs hacked apart, and paintings on the walls torn to pieces-with on exception. A portrait hanging on the northwest wall seems to be untouched, although it hangs backward, its unseen subject facing the wall.

The portrait reveals a beautiful dark-haired Varisian woman in a thoughtful pose. She looks much like the portrait that Aldern was keeping in the caverns.

With a hearty smile, she finishes with, "Let's continue. There appears to be one last room on this floor."

If you've ever played with GM Bold Strider, that's actually where his play strategy of "Bold Striding" (TM) originated from. We used to play together in Bloomington all the time. While everyone was busy checking for traps, he would get impatient and just shout out, "I stride boldly through the door!" His reasoning was that even if there was a trap, he was going to make the save 95% of the time and with evasion and the ability to heal himself, he wasn't worried about traps at all and so his character (Karu the Bold Strider) was solely focused on reaching the goal without worrying about any obstacles in his way. Besides, he also decided that letting the trap go off in his face and dodging it was more fun than just rolling a Disable check and not getting to experience the few seconds of tension from the trap being triggered. He has now transferred that philosophy to other characters (even if their saves are bad), maintaining the philosophy that sometimes stumbling into things blindly (i.e. "Bold Striding") is more fun than the traditional perceive-disable-perceive-sneak-perceive-etc.
The set of double doors in the middle of the upper floor leads to a room with a stone fireplace and paintings hanging on the walls. Each of the paintings is covered with a thick sheet of dusty cobwebs that obscure the subjects from view.
Another set of double doors leads to a room beyond.

Heh, I would have found it appropriate, if nothing more than for guilt had she succeeded (and with that first round, unless it was Sealman, death by round 2 wound have been possible). Woulda been flavorful at the very least, but a moot point :)
There's a VERY small part of me that wants to go Warpriest -> Sacred Fist just to get the level 3 ability to negate all effect of Fort saves, too.
