Delphine Tarrasquel |
White Fang growls softly at the smells in the tunnel.
"The stink is heavy here. Let us continue."
EndlessForms |
Yes, you can aid at Craft checks, even if you are untrained.
Further on, a dirty blanket stretches across the corridor, creating a ragged partition. A flickering, fire-like glow emanates from the other side.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel approaches carefully, taking a glance at the area. Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Sir Terramor the Blue Knight |
Terramor sticks close to Shel, ready to offer her the protection of his shield.

Behind the sheet, you find that a small collective of hardcore pesh addicts occupies this section of the qanat. Three of them sit around the fire passing around a small glass water pipe. "Whoa!" one of them moans as you enter, smoke pouring out of his nose. "You're not narks are you?" He starts reaching for a sharpened piece of wood.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
knowledge local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Delphine tries to calm the junky down. "No we are not narks. you can use that pesh all you like. We are actually looking into the slavers that run around in these tunnels. Could you tell us something about them?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Ennoia |
"Fear not, for we are not here to harm you. My friend here speaks the truth."
Diplomacy (aid another): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Dalton Bodhi |
Bodhi turns to Delphine with a stern look on his face. "Use that pesh all you like? What, are you mad? Pesh is a blight upon Golarion!"
"Good luck getting anything useful out of a pesh-head!" He turns to the one holding the water pipe, "Why, I have half a mind to smash that thing this instant."
He steps off to the side, keeping out of the way of the others.
EndlessForms |
"Whoa, chill out Rocky!" one of them says after another puff.
The one who was reaching for a sharpened stake puts it down and says, "Oh! Right, that's cool. Yeah, they come and go. Left those markings over there, that's all I know. Trippy stuff, man." He points to a small alcove off to the side.
The graffiti seems to be a disjointed grid of lines.
You also find a small leather-bound journal tucked into a plain sack. The journal was badly damaged after a hookah spilled on it, though some of the content remains legible. The notes suggest that the slave operations here may be more than they appear, and the word “Lamashtu?” appears in the final entry before the writing abruptly breaks off.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
knowledge dung: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Delphine studies the graffiti and recognizes it for what it is instantly.
"Map of the tunnels." She only says and makes a copy of it on the sleet.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
I'll wait on the GM for confirmation on that/
"I should."

Yep, you have a better understanding of how to navigate this place now. Up til now you've basically been wandering blind hoping to find their compound.
You travel further down the ancient sewer system:
Brachus |
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
"Look, rusty holes in the stone around this narrow tunnel opening, indicating that it was likely once fitted with a metal grate. Few traces of the metal remain."
Delphine Tarrasquel |
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
"Was a grate here, rusted away now. Should we encounter rustmonsters, let White Fang handle it." Delphine says as she studies the rusts in the wall.
Sir Terramor the Blue Knight |
In the privacy of his great helm, Terramor frowns at the idea of monsters who eat metal. All such beasts should be eradicated, for the good of civilization, he thought.
Ennoia |
"If we know where to go, then let's head there. There are slaves in need of being freed."
Am I at my best? I hope they aren't too disappointed with me...
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel follows the instructions given by the others, and notes the former grate. "If there was a grate, I think we are getting close. Stay close, and let's finish this."
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Brachus summons forth a burst of sound that rolls over all the rust monsters
Casting sounds burst, getting all 3 of them in the burst and no allies
Sonic damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6 No save vs damage, but a DC 17 fort save each to avoid being stunned for 1 round.

Dalton is up!
Delphine Tarrasquel |
Doesn't Ennoia's first arrow hit something? It's a pretty high roll :)
EndlessForms |
Oh sorry, I missed that. Yes, Ennoia takes down the red rust monster.
Also, @Sir Terramor: could you please check in to the Discussion thread when you have the chance? Thanks!
Dalton Bodhi |
As the creatures approach and attacked, Dalton enters his Snapping Turtle Stance before dashing forward around the large lion. He reaches out and tries to grab the blue rust monster.

You then quickly mop up the rust monsters, who never posed much of a threat to begin with.
Out of combat!
Dalton Bodhi |
Dalton claps his hands to brush off any residual rust. "Well, they were messy, but didn't put up much of a fight, did they?"
He stretches out a bit, his back softly cracking as he does so. "Delphine, please - lead on."
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"Without metal to rust, they are harmless." Delphine states and pets White Fang on his shoulder.
She checks the slate with the map again and moves in the correct direction.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel takes her position at the front of the squad. She starts her process of trying to lead the group safely through the next area.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Sir Terramor the Blue Knight |
Glad his allies killed the monsters so swiftly he was not forced to risk his blade, Sir Terramor resumes his close protection of Shel.
With Aid Allies, Bodyguard and Intercept, I can burn an Attack of Opportunity whenever an adjacent ally is attacked to give that ally a +4 to AC.

You travel further down the tunnels:
The central trough of this tunnel is blocked with a makeshift dam of bricks and other scavenged detritus, packed solid with clay. Beyond, the trough is flooded four feet deep with sour-smelling, stagnant water.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel starts looking around for a secret door to either side of the tunnel. She takes care to not touch the dam, not wanting to risk drowning all of the group.
Take 20 for a 32.
"Um, if it comes down to it, can everyone swim? Just stay back...
EndlessForms |
Shel does not notice any secret doors or passages but does note that the water is infested with leeches. A leech swarm in fact.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
"I can't see any way around it. And there is a swarm of leeches in here that will overwhelm us, if it is disturbed. Can anyone deal with a swarm? Other than cracking the dam, I don't see another way through," Shel mutters glumly, wondering if anyone else had ideas.
Ennoia |
"I can deal with it." says Ennoia as she taps her Swarmbane Clasp.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"I could try to lure it away with an illusion... Unfortunately nothing suitable for a swarm"
EndlessForms |
We'll just bypass this one then:
Everyone stands back as Ennoia lines up her shot. With a few quick arrows, she skewers enough of the leeches to eliminate the threat and you are able to wade through the water relatively unharmed.
Now with a map in hand, you eventually reach a cistern which you know contains the entrance to the slavers' compound.
This dry, cavernous cistern is built from pale bricks and mortar. A forest of columns stretches over thirty feet upward and meets a complex series of arches that crisscrosses the ceiling. Scattered iron barrels burn brightly, giving off the stench of dried dung. At the far corner of the cistern, clumsily stacked piles of excavated stone surround a coiled stairwell hewn into the bedrock.
Two gnoll brutes guard the cistern from behind a small barricade erected between a pair of columns near the stairs. A hideous avian creature with the body of an emaciated rooster, the wings of a bat, and a long scaly tail stands guard with them!

Shel, Sir Terramor, and Ennoia are up!
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel pulls a potion, and quaffs it down, vanishing from sight. "I'm going for the gnolls. Archery support would be helpful," she whispered.
Drank potion of Invisibility.
Sir Terramor the Blue Knight |
"Why do they have a chicken?" says Sir Terramor, oblivious to the danger.
"I'll get down there and draw their attention," says Sir Terramor.
And he moves out towards the gnolls, banner flying and sword out. "Good afternoon," he says with a cheerful wave of of sword. I propose to remove you from those stairs. Unless you'd care to surrender?"
Ennoia |
Ennoia moves forwards and readies a shot.
If any of the gnolls so anything except surrender, she'll shaft the blue gnoll.
EndlessForms |
"Surrender? Ha!" The gnolls do not react kindly to Sir Terramor's suggestion. Ennoia then promptly puts an arrow in the offending gnoll.
The foul chicken creature rushes at Sir Terramor!

Dalton Bodhi |
Dalton rushes forward, moving himself into a flanking position on the winged creature with Sir Terramor. Double move - ten feet shy of a single movement.
He crouches a bit, entering his snapping turtle style.
"What IS that thing?"
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel double moves directly in front of Ennoia. The invisible halfling whispers as she moves by. "Im in front. Keep your arrows high. I'm charging that gnoll next round!"
