Jiro has Kn. Nature at +8, so he can Take 10 and auto-pass to reattach.

Jiro look at their party as they tell the town of their problem.

Also, I believe that I should take a penalty on the transformation since I ate an apple at the market...

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

A few bumps seem to have appeared on his skin, but the man shrugs in indifference. He likely banged his arm on the cave wall when he fled due to the foul magicks of the not-a-vampire.

"Perhaps we can just report back to the Society on our findings and they will send someone more... suited to the task." Jiro offers.

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

Going to wait until we figure out oocly whether we can use the scroll at all before pushing the scene much more along, as that hugely impacts which direction Old Iron would go.

Scarab Sages

Necress looks perplexed.

"I think the Society would prefer that we solve the problem," she says. "Though someone more proficient in activating this device would be welcome. Perhaps we can hire someone here."

Anywhere we might check for an NPC that could help us?

After a night of rest, Tin returns with the scroll in hand and immediately quaffs two of his extracts, freshly brewed this morning.

Fox's cunning and owl's wisdom. Then spend 1pt of inspiration.

From what I understand, he can keep trying until he rolls a 1, and there's a folio if that happens.

UMD (emulate druid 5) DC25: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 10 + (1) = 17

Here we go...

UMD (emulate druid 5) DC25: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 10 + (1) = 17
UMD (emulate druid 5) DC25: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (17) + 10 + (4) = 31

Seeming to finally find some luck, Tin squints at the plan.

"Hey, plant. You read me this time?"

"What are you going to ask it, Tin?" says the Tien man.

"Oh, hello pink walkers. I felt you coming again through my babies outside. Aren't they just lovely? And I've given them such lush leaves, such rich fruit, and so many seeds! If I could, I would make the whole world lush and green! Wouldn't that be marvelous?"

We can still make this a group show, that's my preference!

Tin translates for the benefit of the others (verbatim, so folks can respond to anything that Tin doesn't comment on).

Common (to the Pathfinders): "Yea, this plant's got some grand plans to make the whole world lush and green..."

Looking back at the plant, Tin cuts right to the point.

Plantspeak (to the plant): "Yea, that's good and all. Do you know where you're getting your power to do this from?"

I just have GMed this, so I am trying not to interfere or sway the group's choices as I know the hidden prereqs for the extra PP.

Old Iron massages his temples. He's negotiated merc contracts, threatened devils, and befriended Red Mantis Assassins, but he has no idea how to talk to a plant, how they think. Nine hells, he has a hard enough time grasping that they can think.

"Tell it that that's all great and lovely, but...uh...it shouldn't make people green without their permission?"

He grumbles again and starts pacing back-and-forth.

"Or maybe tell it that it works really hard and it should just work on making the land better and not worry about making the people on it into plants? 'Cause...we flesh bags won't appreciate it? Or something like that...."

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

This whole scenario reminds me of this.

The plant thing responds, "Power? It's my power. I am the Verdant Spark! But why would my children not want to accept my loving embrace? Surely it would be better if they could feel the power of the sun in their veins?"

Liberty's Edge

Max HP 53 | AC 17 (T12, FF15) | F +7; R +7; W +5* | CMD 19 | Init +2 Per +10

I'm assuming the people of Mercy aren't praying to Robori/The Verdant Spark and actually giving permission for their children to be plant-infused. I'm now reading this now as in the "Verdant Spark" isn't feeding from the children, but rather giving the children a gift, unknowing of its consequence.

Tin nods to Old Iron.

"Yea, that's good. I'll see if I can ask this Spark-thing to hold back a little."

Clearing his throat, Tin stands up straight and addresses the Verdant Spark.

"So here's the deal, Sparks. Us pinks don't like stuff done to or for us unless we ask for it. It ain't no disrespect, in fact when you give someone something after they ask for it, they're usually more appreciative. Any chance we could talk you into holding back giving the gift to the kids unless they straight up clearly ask for it?"

Tin assumes most parents wouldn't want leaves growing from their kids, but if some of the Robori-nuts actually like that, power to them.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

There is a long silence and you aren't sure at first if the Verdant Spark understood Tin. When it does respond, it seems to have trouble comprehending. "But... why would the children not want a gift? A gift I have offered them so freely of my own good will?" After some more explanation that people don't generally like branches growing from their chests, the Verdant Spark relents. "I will withhold the gift then, unless my children ask for it. No more green for the pinks."

This seems to be a satisfactory solution and indeed when you return to Mercy, the sheriff greets with many of the other citizens. "Well, you seem to have done it. The trees are regrowing in hours now! And the children. . . well, their growths are receding, some have lost their leaves entirely! We just wanted to thank you in person. You'll always be welcome in Mercy."

The devotees of Robori have their own spin on events. They are grateful but still insistent that the power is coming from the tree-god. Putting all of this behind you though, you can return to Katapesh with Nira and quite an interesting story.

---

The return journey to Katapesh is largely uneventful, though the doll attracts strange looks and mutterings from other people who see her. Venture-Captain Roderus requests that you provide him a detailed account of their journeys and discoveries. Once you have completed your account, Roderus reaches under his desk and withdraws a fat pouch of coins. “I told you I would compensate you for the success of your investigation, and I am a man of my word.” He distributes coins to you. “Well done, Pathfinders. It’s good to know I can rely on you for future missions.”

Ok, that's it! Thanks for playing, everyone! Chronicles have been sent and game has been reported. Let me know if you have any problems. Also, sorry this game took much longer than my usual rate but it had a lot of investigation and that tends to slow things down a lot but luckily we had a couple of you who consistently pushed the action along to help us finish. Thanks everyone!

What was the disease effects by chance.

Also I would have just spent the PP to clear it. Will adjust accordingly. Thanks for the game.

Oh right! I forgot that anyone failed it. It deals 1d3 Con damage and 1d3 Cha damage every day with a cure of 2 consecutive saves. So I guess you could either try making a bunch of saves to see if you get over it on your own before your Con or Cha hits 0 or you can just pay PP or gp to get rid of it.

Even if you made your save you still get the transformation boon.

Is it too late to make purchases?

Figures we would wrap up on the day I'm building my new PC... nothing like finishing the build and not having it power up.

Chronicle looks great! Thanks so much for running that. I thought the plot was super interesting, though I was surprised they put so much riding on the scroll at the end.

Still, that was a fun one! Thanks! :)

You can not your own purchases on the chronicle sheet, you don't need the GM to sign off on it or anything.

As always, another great EF run. Thanks again!
