Nari steps into the room, the smell almost overwhelming.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
"Ya, nope, not happening. I'll wait out here. Let me know if we are going to make a run for that staircase. Else I'll be out here playing with Timid." Nari exclaims, a small head popping up from her backpack curiously at his name being called.

Random laughs at Omorose's crack about the weight of Jaysin's ego. He follows along silently, trusting their search of the temple.
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
"Yes, that is not good. I'm starting to agree with Nari - we are encountering way too much fungus. I wonder if we have enough prestige to request our next mission be someplace sunny with a beach? We've done a couple missions for the Society already..."
Random dutifully searches the room, since the smell doesn't seem to affect him too much.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Omorose gags, but manages to control herself enough not to vomit, and swiftly uses her magical sleeves to transform her clothing into a set with a heavy veil. Steeling herself she conducts her usual thorough search of the room, unable to summon the humour to join in with the banter while in this stench.
Take 20 on Perception for a 26.

Yes, very funny. Jaysin simply rolls his eyes at the latest attempt at cleverness.

Jaysin doubles over as he attempts to go near the room. Turning different shades of a color not normally seen on human skin, the fighter backs out of the room, violently swinging his arms in an attempt to clear the hallway of those in his way. There must be another... way around. How can you people stomach such filth? Must be your upbringing.

Lol
No one finds anything of interest in the kitchen.
Ok, you've got the bottom floor covered and there are several different staircases up. Let me know which way you'd like to go.

Jaysin will strongly suggest (demand) that any staircase that will not force him to pass through that vile kitchen would be the one to choose.
The room with the mite had stairs going up, correct?

Jaysin you must learn to control yourself
laughing at the heaving fighter Manzcar walks out of the room.
Fine we double back to take care of Jaysin's delicate stomach
Manzcar continues to shake his head as he moves with his sword at the ready.

![]() |

Random shrugs at Jaysin's discomfort and finishes looking around the kitchen. He tries the door leading to the ledge they'd seen from the other ledge. Finally, he returns, ready to follow the weak-stomached fighter to whichever stairs he'd like to use to go up. "Don't forget, there was rooms below the workshop. It was too dark for me to tell if there was anything down there, but if we're trying to explore the whole floor before we check upstairs..."

Dozens of whirling, twitching humanoids fill the massive chamber, dressed in outlandish costumes. Masked derros madly waltz about, ducking in and out of the light shed by a few battered candelabra. Others wave banners of tattered cloth or whirl feeble, guttering torches, their dim light an unnatural blood red. Some mites wind between the derros’ legs in a chaotic mimicry of peasants’ country dances, while other intoxicated mites awkwardly gather dirty plates and goblets from tables. More creatures crowd an elevated gallery at the chamber’s east end and appear to be a mockery of an orchestra, each musician vying to outdo his fellows in thunderous cacaphony.
A handful of human bodies lie sprawled among the dancing creatures in the middle of the room.
Perched on a throne of carved alabaster, a nightmarish looking elven woman enjoys her degenerate followers' drugged revelry. Her face is covered in thick layers of white ceruse makeup and pale linen robes shroud her form. As you enter the other end of the hall she calls above the din, "Come to join the party?" The reveling mites and derros don't seem to notice you but she certainly has.

What the blazes is all this nonsense? Upon hearing the woman's invitation and then seeing her split into two, Jaysin shakes his head and decides to take action. Alright, if there is two of you, I'll just shoot you both.
Jaysin will move up in order to get within range and fire on arrow at the one on the "left", however the distance is still formidable and the arrow sails wide.

Omorose moves up amidst the party while Random sends an arrow flying against the wall. Manzcar moves up.

Manzcar and Omorose need a DC 14 Will save or become panicked for 2 rounds. Making the save only causes you to be shaken for 1 round.
Lady Morilaeth then screams “You will dream of me!” and falls over, dead.
If you are level 2, you are not affected.

What happened to her? Jaysin yells out to the others closer to the woman. Is she dead? What killed her? Jaysin will double move, all the while scanning the area for an assassin or some other means that could have killed the woman. I don't want to be next.

"A bit of a killjoy, isn't she?" Random remarks to the fleeing derro and mites that pass by, ignoring him. Crap. It got Omorose.
Random scans the scene of the spellcaster, and decides that the group can handle a dead woman, especially with the great Jaysin. Cue the necrophilia joke.
Omorose, however, might get herself into trouble during her irrational retreat. Random chases after her and tries to grab her when he catches up.

Jaysin doesn't have a heal check modifier so he really wouldn't be one to think of checking.

![]() |

Quick question... wasn't there two of her? When she died did the other image disappear? I assume so but I just realized I don't see that written anywhere.

![]() |

Wait, what? Jaysin looks at Phyton incredulously. Of course she is! She's lying on the floor and on top of that, I just put an arrow in her!

Manzcar continues on the defensive.
Omorose continues to cower in the corner presumably.

Sorry. Was kinda waiting to see how Omorose reacted to the grapple, if she was going to try to break the grapple or something. But, yeah, Random would have tried to maintain the grapple and then move her around the corner out of line-of-sight. (I moved us on the map, now. This was part of the standard action spent to maintain the grapple.) Her panic ends in this round, right? In which direction is Nari retreating?
Random peeks out from around the corner to see what all the yelling is about. He contributes a bit of his own: "Why isn't she still dead? I was okay with her dead!"
Will post action after making sure Omorose is recovered and seeing what direction Nari went.

Sorry for the delay, I think I would have to try to break the grapple.

Sorry for the delay folks. Website was down most of the day and I was at our local mini-con all afternoon/night anyways.
Nari goes running away in a panic.
Phyton lays his weapon into the woman!
@Random: I'm guessing Nari would run towards you since the only other exit you guys can see involves running past Lady Morilaeth. I've moved her token. She's actually right next to you.
With an arrow to the chest, Jaysin puts her down!
Manzcar runs up and finishes her off! I assume you'd still hit her even when she's down. Otherwise she'll continue to regenerate.
Out of combat!
Lady Morilaeth carried a potion of cure light wounds, scroll of aid, masterwork breastplate, masterwork buckler, dagger, masterwork longbow with 20 arrows, cold iron rapier, antitoxin, blackened silver holy symbol of Lamashtu, noblewoman’s robes, 4 parchment pages filled with Lamashtu holy scripts, silver necklace (100 gp value), silver ring bearing Lamashtu’s symbol (50 gp value), and a spell component pouch.
The other derros and mites have all fled and are too scared or drugged out to oppose you.
Someone's yellowed bones lie draped over a chair in a corner of the gallery. An iron signet ring with a rune still sits on one bony finger and a rusty iron bracelet holds more luminous pearls. Masterwork stoneworker's chisels lie in a satchel by the skeleton's feet.

With some investigation, you can discover two secret doors on the northern wall that lead to the chute you found below and the staircase in the kitchen.
There is also a doorway behind her throne.

I think Omorose should be recovering from her frightened condition around the same time that Nari comes by, so...
Seeing the clarity return to Omorose's eyes, Random takes another peek around the corner to see where the other shrieking woman is headed. He's nearly run over as she comes down the corridor, but he reaches out, trying to prevent her from running into the midst of the retreating derro and mites.
Grapple: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
He keeps Nari safe until she recovers from the woman's magic, looking over his shoulder to see that the others have dropped the woman for real, this time. When Nari recovers, he gives her a pat on the head, picks up his bow, and joins the others as they finish searching the woman.
"Which god is that? The god of mite sex? I mean, she was just sitting up there, watching the orgy of derros and mites! Now that's sick!"
Random walks over and regards the dead humans. "This is pretty sick, too, I guess. I wonder who they are?"

![]() |

Somebody calm those women down, please! The threat has been defeated thanks to me and these fine fellows here. Jaysin spots the door behind the throne. Seems the only other place to examine is beyond there. Would someone care to lead the way? Perhaps more spoils of victory lie on the other side! With a flourish, Jaysin readies another arrow and strides toward the door, waiting for someone to lead the way.
Once everyone has finished investigating the room and the human bodies, Jaysin will clear his throat loudly as if to remind the party that there is more to discover.

![]() |

Omorose pulls her gloves up and takes a few steadying breaths, still pale, before nodding and moving forward. She takes the scroll of aid, if nobody objects, remaining silent and begins to help searching with her usual thoroughness.
When they have found everything she moves over to examine the door behind the throne for traps and attempt sto open it.
Good job guys!

"I really do hate this place." Nari comments, her paranoia slowly receding.
Nari walks over the the lifeless body taking the antitoxin, and the two pieces of jewelery. "Oo, shiny."

In case you didn't catch my italics earlier, the pearls on the dead body were what you were searching for. It seemed really nondescript, I had to search around for a few minutes looking for where the pearls were because I read over them the first time. I tried to point them out with the italics but they're still kinda hidden in there.
Omorose does not notice any traps on the door.
