You two need to figure out why you were out in the Heldren forest yesterday.
Here's what happened: you were in the forest when you were set upon by capricious fey from the north. They harried you until you dove for the only shelter you could find, a carriage standing in the road. The fey then locked you in the carriage and you have not been able to break out or escape. Now, you hear the presence of other humans.
Once you have your story straight, let me know and start screaming. We'll see if they let you out :)

Arthorion:
I see we both have spent some time near the Crown of the World. How about we fought side by side there so we're old friends? We both are heading back to Heldren, me to find my sister and you to look for your child.
This would of course mean I'm not yet aware of my mother's death, and I would have to talk to my sister when we got back into town.

Viktor & GM DSP:
I'm thinking Arthorion and Viktor met each other in a chance encounter, maybe during a blizzard or something. Arthorion lives in the wild, so Viktor was traveling alone and maybe got caught by the bad weather; he and Arthorion met accidentally and helped each other survive the blizzard. They spent a few days side by side waiting for the snow storm to end and got to know each other a bit. When Arthorion told Viktor his story, the paladin remembered an orphaned half-elf boy that grew up in his hometown, a boy that should now be the same age as Arthorion's child. Viktor didn't know much about the kid, but his foster mother was said to be from the north. Since Viktor was returning to Heldren, he invited Arthorion to accompany him on the journey; without a better lead, the elf accepted. They were both traveling south when the feys attacked and locked them up.
On a side note, I'd recommend trapping the lynx alone in another chariot... It makes sense that the feys tricked Arthorion and Viktor into their trap, but I assume the lynx was captured by force afterwards.
By the way, I'm not suggesting that the half-elf boy is really Arthorion's child, it's just a pretext. If the missing child ever comes up, I want to be surprised. :)
Ok. Now that you've seen a fight, I can tell you that it only gets harder.
So, I need to check in.
Is everyone willing to reroll characters if yours dies? I know it's a lot of work.
I need to know because I do not pull punches and I play enemies as intelligently as their stats allow, and if I am going to lose players, I may need to change my style a bit for the time being.

I'm in your homebrew, I know how tough you can be. I built my character powerfully to accommodate, and in a few levels his main job will be keeping the party alive.
If Viktor dies I'll be sad, but not traumatized and I would completely be willing to make a new character.
Yeah, I would be willing to re-roll a character. I tend to play the characters as their personalities dictate (i.e. naive for Kara) which could cause trouble. But if she dies, I'll roll a character that's a little smarter and more combat savvy.
Well, I don't mind making a new character. If Daevin ends up dying, I have no intentions of leaving. Granted, I would enjoy playing this character further, but sometimes playing a level one bard has its problems, dying early might just happen to be one of them.

Sorry for going dark: there was some stuff (but isn't there always?)
In any case, I have no hard feelings about being replaced. Best of luck against the relentless winter! OoooOOooo~! *ghost noises*
Okay, I'm kinda confused now. How'd Arthorian pick up Alertness when close to his animal companion? I believe that's only for familiars, not animal companions. Unless mad dog barbarians get something unique in their archetype?
EDIT - I only ask because I've been playing rangers, druids, and sylvan sorcerers for, like, ever, and never got Alertness as a bonus feat. I think that's only for wizard's and the like with familiars.

I'll get you out of this if it kills me, but first I want to make sure the creature actually could get all of those actions in during the surprise round.

Reading the grapple rules, it seems to me that the creature cannot deal the claw damage this round, only if it begins the turn grappling. So that leaves Arthorion with 5 hp, right?
