Cedric Rydell |
Sorry, had a really busy weekend. I'll be ready by tomorrow
Cedric Rydell |
(was going to take craft items as well, but thats covered haha)
HP: 5+2 (7)
FCB: +1/2 damage on channel (apologies, I've been doing it as +5 already, it should only have been +4. I mis-remembered the damage boost)
class: +1 damage on channel
BaB: +1
Saves: +1 ref
Feat: selective channel
Skills: 4+ Int (5)
Perception: 1
Diplomacy: 1
Sense Motive: 1
Spellcraft: 1
Know. Planes: 1
Background:
Know. Geography: 1
Craft (alchemy): 1
Spells: access to 2nd level spells 2/day
Channel: 2d6, +1/day, still dazzles non-good creatures
At 3rd level, when a blossoming light channels energy to harm undead, her channeled energy also harms chaotic evil outsiders, worshipers of chaotic evil deities, and evil creatures with light sensitivity or light blindness as if they were undead.
Gadren |
@Cedric perhaps consider craft magic arms and armour or forge ring? Part of me would like to get more item creation feats but it isn't a good idea for adventure paths experience has thaught me.
Maria Vaduva |
So I think my nat 1 strength check might still be enough to slide down a rope, if you want a check. It's a DC 5 climb check to climb up a rope with a wall to brace against so DC 5 climb (or something else) doesn't seem crazy low for sliding down a rope. Right? Hopeful... XD
Cedric Rydell |
no worries guys, as my channel heals and harms here! lol.
also, I had thought to take craft wondrous items as I have access to ALL cleric spells at no cost, which includes resistance and all the "enhancement spells" though, I could just cast the spells for you, when you create the items, now that I think about it.
also, I need a long rest before I have access to my 2nd level spells yes?
Maria Vaduva |
I always love having a crafter on the team. I'm also really enjoying Maria's interaction with Cedric and the team in general. She's a pessimistic loner who thinks she has to solve problems by being extremely suspicious and fighting to the death. Now she's finding she can't do much around here without the help of these people. And most frutratingly, little Mr Sunshine "Light and hope in your heart are all you need" just waltzes through frying bad guys she can't touch! Out of character, I love it! Maria's really being stretched here.
Oh and level 8 will be a fun combo for me and Cedric. -4 to undead saving against channel when they're near me.
Mishtes |
I thought Mishtes being able to craft weapons would be both appropriate for his class and useful.
Although he's a bit more of a naive mighty warrior. Slightly reminiscent of the world famous sexiest of mighty Gaulish warriors.
But not AS naive and klutzy.
Mishtes |
Apologies for my absence, all. But I tried to do something a little too clever on my computer and somehow managed to mess up the 'grub2' system, which prevented it from booting up.
Just a bit of a delay in things. I keep my data backed up good and proper.
I'm back in business now, after reinstalling my operating system and getting things back to normal.
Well, normal for me, anyway... :D
Cedric Rydell |
Sorry all, had medical issues past several days, nothing severe but they kept me occupied hopefully I'll be posting normally again.
Lazar Dobrescu |
Cedric, I totally love your character concept. I've always tried to do a channeler that worked, and was never able to. One question: where do you get that +5 bonus to channel from? That is the key that makes it all come together!
Cedric Rydell |
well, techincally thats only a bonus to channels when used to harm, but I think we decided to throw out the "heal/harm" aspect. Its from a domain and aasimar FCB. Also, I'll get a post up shortly, been dealing with some things.
Cedric Rydell |
If you know you are fighting alot of undead, or evil outsiders/worshipers it will still do you well. As the healing isn't bad even without the modifiers (especially with the amount you get from the archetype I'm using) check it out
Here,
and, if you have a nice GM like ours, that isn't completely RAW when things make sense and fit well, you can mix it with
this one. that makes nice synergy and really flavorful uses for channel later on when it starts to "fall off"
Maria Vaduva |
I think heal/harm simultaneous channeling is awesome. It's just so cool, though it does make one of the strongest classes in the game stronger. *shrug* Still awesome.
Cedric Rydell |
well, maybe, but I gave up armor/weapons and domain spells for the channel stuff. And spell for spell, I think wizards are stronger hehe
Maria Vaduva |
Definitely spell for spell. Clerics are compensated a bit with their chassis but I do tend to think wizards are stronger.
I don't have any problem with GM's channeling rule. I've wanted to play that way for a while. I might start channeling myself a bit.
Gadren |
Get well soon.
An interesting thing about the 2e playtest is the healing burst version of casting Heal is quite similar to channel positive energy (and harm for channel negative) but it affects but living and undead similar to the house rule in this game. They do specify in some feats and things that boost the healing side it doesn't boost the damage side.
Maria Vaduva |
Get well soon! We definitely don't want you to run the Splatterman fight while in pain and angry with all that is good in the world! XD
Phaedra Alexandria Covington |
I'm more than willing too wait 12 more hours if it means avoiding death :)
Mishtes |
Even as the Splatterman's hand wounds Cedric he dies as a bellow from Mishtes "Die and stay dead this time, damn you!" marks the Lopper's axe cutting him down.
Vesorianna's voice thunders through the dank halls "You shall not return!" and the last of the five spirits is ended.
At the bottom of the flooded oubliette you find the items stolen from Warden Hawkran.
Loot.
Longsword +1 Keen,
Mithral dagger +1,
A ring of protection +1.Any last things you need to do?
And you can all level up to 4th.
Well done, everyone! I think we all did quite well clearing out that basement of nasties as fast as we did.
We're doing pretty well for loot too.
@ GM_DBH: I should've done this quite a while ago, but I updated the loot list for the stuff that Mishtes has as the moment.
I also added those three new items to the list; unclaimed as yet.
I'll update my profile for level 4 in the next day or two.
Mishtes |
Mishtes' Changes for Level 4:
• +1 to dexterity (to 16)
• FCB: +1 Rage Round/day (now 14/day)
• Bloodline Power Choice: Ghost Touch
• Level 1 Spells (x2): Long Arm, Phantom Blood
• Background Skills: Handle Animal +1, Linguistics +1 (new language; Skald)
• Adventuring Skills: Acrobatics +1, Know (arcana) +1, Perception +1, Spellcraft +1, Survival +1
Mishtes |
@ Everyone:
I just realized Mishtes is has a lot of really valuable gear on him.
Not trying to be a greedy-guts, mind. I just wasn't paying attention the value of what I've taken so far.
The loot he's got now:
• +1 Crossbow bolts (10): worth 2,301 gp
• +1 Keen Longsword: worth 8,315 gp
• Bloodstained Handaxe +1: worth 2,006 gp
• MWK Heavy Crossbow: worth 350 gp
• Potion of CLW: worth 50 gp
• Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds: worth 300 gp
• Rope of Climbing: worth 3,000 gp
Just trying to limit myself to the combat specific stuff, it just happened to work that way.
Does anyone else want the Rope of Climbing or the Masterwork Crossbow (with its bolts)?
The only two items I'm really, really, really keen on are the +1 keen longsword and Loppers +1 hand axe.
Cedric Rydell |
I thought about taking the ring of protection, but my AC is going to be super low anyway so I'm hesitant to really worry about it.... the difference between 12 and 13 isn't particularly big, so I'd say give it to one of the melee boys.
also, I'd say if Maria wanted the longsword it would be better to let her use it, since it wouldn't require her relying on me and Lazar when combating incorporeal creatures. Though most of the prison has been cleansed.
Also, I'd say we can call it a day in the prison after that fight, I think I'm below half my channels and down 2 or 3 spells today.
Also, I'd be happy to take those +1 crossbow bolts to have as a back up.
Gadren |
+1 Int
HP: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Will Save +1
BAB +1
Spell Slot 1st +1
Spell Slot 2nd +1
Endure Elements, Communal
Protection from Evil, Communal
Knowledge (Arcana 1, Dungeoneering 1, Local 1, Planes 1, Religion 1), Perception 1, Spellcraft 1, Ride
Background Skills
Linguistics +1, Profession: Soldier +1
Languages: +Abyssal
Maria Vaduva |
GM, what are the odds we could find somebody and trade that +1 keen longsword for a +1 keen two-hander, like a greatsword, falchion (first choice) or falcata? Maria would be VERY interested in that. I don't mind going sword and board with the longsword but my understanding of how to play paladin is to not bump my AC too high as you'll then just target my friends, which isn't good tanking practice.
And I picked up magic weapon now so even if I don't take the +1 weapon I'll try not to make you guys use up your slots on me.
Lazar Dobrescu |
Meanwhile, you can always use the longsword with both hands.
I have asked this question in several games lastly, but here it goes: do we know anyone who can enchant weapons, be it PC or NPC?
Gadren |
Gadren can do wondrous items and some (Cedric) I think had been considering it. Perhaps at level five he might get craft magic arms and armour if he was interested?

Fair enough. Mishtes does have the Ghost Strike rage power now. He hits incorporeal creatures at full pop in melee, even with non magical weapons.
You can have the +1 crossbow bolts then. Mishtes is a lot less likely to be using ranged combat anyway.
@ Maria: would you like the +1 keen long-sword, then?
It will allow you to do some melee damage v. incorporeal enemies.
Mishtes can now damage incorporeal nasties with any weapon in melee.
So his scimitar and bardiche should suffice for now.
Maria Vaduva |
I put 500 gp on the loot sheet for all of us. Be sure to add it to your inventory on your profile! Then we have quite a bit of unclaimed loot leftover and people who haven't taken much. If no one wants any of the unclaimed loot, then I'll sell it off and give it to those who have claimed the least in valuable stuff (Gadren has had almost no loot so far) in a few days IRL (assuming site works). Sound good?
Lazar Dobrescu |
Lazar also has 5x +1 Ghost Touch arrows and 2x +1 Undead Bane arrows that he hasn't used (they were probably thought to help any ranged character that didn't have an ability such as Touch of the Spirit World which, honestly, seems superb in a Campaign like this one). You can add it to the loot for sale, since they're worth a small fortune and can be traded for something more useful for the group (or a magic bow for me :) )
Gadren |
@GM_DBH what use is the moldy spell book now?
We still have to stick about for the rest of the month as per the will, which will be mostly handwaved I suspect.
I'm fairly happy on the loot side, sure it'd be great to get a ring of protection but we'll get more things like that in future adventures, a hand me down will be good later. It might be level twelve but sooner o later that magic longsword will be hand me downed to Gadren!
@All However one advantage will be Gadren has craft wondrous items. He'll craft magic items for 60% of what you'd get it in a shop for. So he'll make party members a cloak of resistance for 600gp rather than buy it in a shop for 1,000gp.
Maria Vaduva |
Thanks, Gadren! I think 60% is completely reasonable. You should get a bit for investing a feat in something that helps the party wealth SOOOO much.
