12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Once we have a better sense of character creation we can start our musings here.

With all the classes teased now, I'm totally unsure which one I want to use. I was going to go rogue, but bard and sorcerer are tempting too...

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Right?! I'm just gonna fill in any gaps while I'm playing - let other people make up my mind :p

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Just got my scenario! Mwa ha ha - Time to start prepping whatever evils I get to unleash!

Wait, you got Rose Street Revenge already? So that means you're getting a sneak peek into the new system in detail then? I should have signed up to GM PF2E as well!

Cellion, if you're tempted by those other classes I was looking at rogue myself. Just to let you know. :)

Playtest rules are out!

Male NG Elf Wizard 1 | HP 10/12 | Hero Points 1/3 | Resonance 1/1 | AC 12 TAC 12 | F +1, R +4, W +4 | Perc: +3, low-light vision | Speed 30ft | Arcane Focus: 1/1 | Spells: burning hands, color spray | Active conditions: None.

Also it appears HeroLab online supports the playtest (although I ran into a bug trying to populate a spellbook). It auto-formats the BBCode statblock as well.

Here is PaleDim's playtest character (so far).

I am still digesting the rules, but I will get cracking on a character soon.

Male NG Elf Wizard 1 | HP 10/12 | Hero Points 1/3 | Resonance 1/1 | AC 12 TAC 12 | F +1, R +4, W +4 | Perc: +3, low-light vision | Speed 30ft | Arcane Focus: 1/1 | Spells: burning hands, color spray | Active conditions: None.

Don't let me make you feel "behind". To be very clear: I have barely begun reading the book. I will probably just make it through the class chapter this coming week. What you see here is what HeroLab helped me spit out quickly (and on reading, I might be convinced to switch up some options). However, what I do like about the tool is that it helped me to comprehensively see some of the bigger changes and how they work together.

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

So aside from our crafty wizard, we got any other early thoughts?

I'm currently at work on a halfling rogue. :)

I made a gnome bard with a hedgehog. I think the hedgehog is the real brains behind the duo.

I'm going to try making a sorcerer tonight, but definitely want to play a charismatic type.

Yessssssss

The gnome ancestry feat that gives any gnome a familiar is AWESOME. I totally want to have a gnome barbarian with a tiny toy poodle or chihuahua familiar.

Hmmmm... I've really been digging in to all sorts of character possibilities, including an awesome seeming cleric of gorum, a dwarven rogue, and a classic lute-toting bard. But I haven't settled on anything yet.

Since this is 1st level only, I kinda want to pick something that's going to be good at that level in isolation.

So question. Rogues get a skill feat at 1st level (and another at 2nd, when other classes normally get their first), and though currently I'm leaning toward Cat Fall (1st Level Acrobatics feat), I noticed that Fleet (and a couple others) that are in the Main List as 'General' feats have the 'Skill' notation in the description. I'm guessing that's a misprint (though there ARE several of them, if they are misprints.)

Anyone have any inside knowledge of this issue? Is Fleet actually a Skill feat or a General feat (that can't be taken until 3rd level, if I'm reading the rules correctly.)

Yep, looks like a misprint to me. But I have no way of confirming either way. I'd suggest keeping a note of it (and maybe posting on the playtest feedback subforum!).

Based on how it doesn't rely on a skill to function, I'm going to guess Fleet is intended to be a general feat, not a skill feat.

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

I agree with Cellion's take (for Fleet at least)

NG Female Halfling Rogue 1 | Perception: +5 | HP: 11 (of 15) | Speed: 25' | Stealth: +5 | Class DC: 15 | AC 16, TAC 15 | Fort +2, Reflex+6, Will +5 | Hero Points: 1

Greta Lightfoot is official. Halfling rogue, former circus performer and pickpocket at your service. Hopefully I've got the character sheet created correctly. :)

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Looks good to me!

Male NG Elf Wizard 1 | HP 10/12 | Hero Points 1/3 | Resonance 1/1 | AC 12 TAC 12 | F +1, R +4, W +4 | Perc: +3, low-light vision | Speed 30ft | Arcane Focus: 1/1 | Spells: burning hands, color spray | Active conditions: None.

I *think* my character sheet is done, spells picked/memorized, gear purchased (still reading through the books).

Now to make him interesting :) Will think on appearance/behavior/background before Monday.

Female Human Monk 1 | AC 16 TAC 16 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +6 W +3 | Perc +2 | Res 1/1 | Hero 1/1 | Active Status:

After much deliberation, I'll be bringing a monk to the playtest! Still needs some items and more backstory development than "She's a ripoff of Jam from Guilty Gear". But otherwise more or less done.

I'm also really curious to test out how practical and effective a reach paladin would be. Too many character choices :>

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Right?! I just ran my first session of this on Wednesday, and it left me wanting to play every class that hit the table!

Female Human Monk 1 | AC 16 TAC 16 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +6 W +3 | Perc +2 | Res 1/1 | Hero 1/1 | Active Status:

Ooops, here's that link to Jam from Guilty Gear, except working this time.

And yeah, I think I've spent time considering playing every single class at this point. Even the ones that seem clunky and not very good at first glance (Ranger, Barb and Alchemist) I still want to give a go to see if I'm missing something from my read through. I kinda wish I was in three parallel PbPs of all the different PFS playtest scenarios.

Female Human Monk 1 | AC 16 TAC 16 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +6 W +3 | Perc +2 | Res 1/1 | Hero 1/1 | Active Status:

I wanna say: I had a chance to run Doomsday Dawn part 1 today for my home group, and the system was surprisingly great (apart from a few pain points that I hope Paizo will sort out in the upcoming months). New action economy and AoO changes make playing a martial class awesome based on the reactions from my players.

I'm now looking forward even more to starting this shortly!

I have a character ready. Not sure if I got it right though.

I will get my guy done tonight and entered into the online system tomorrow. Leaning toward primal sorcerer!

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Don't worry too much about getting it all right, we'll tweak as we go if necessary. We should get going tomorrow/later today, sorry for the slight delay.

Just a heads-up that I'll be on a week-long vacation beginning tonight. I'm hoping to keep up with my player posts using my smartphone though, so it shouldn't be much of an issue, except that I doubt I'll be posting more than once a day or so.

Sippit | Male Goblin | N Sorcerer / 1st | HP:15/15 | AC:14 TAC:14 | F:+4 R:+3 W:+1 | Per: +0 | Stealth: +1

Okay, here's my goblin sorcerer.

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Okay guys, we're back in business! The site's supposed to be working but not particularly stable for next few days, so make sure to Copy your posts before you hit submit if you want to avoid unnecessary tears.

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Okay, my stability information was clearly not quite on target, but we're back - again! (Unnecessary tear avoidance protocol is still a good idea)

N/N male dwarf barbarian/1 | HP: 8/24 | AC/TAC: 16/13 (-1 raging) | F/R/W: +lvl +4(2)/+2(0)/+4(2) | Speed 20 ft | Athletics +2, Perc +3, Survival +2 | Active Conditions: raging

What's the advantage to the sudden charge feat. Its one activity that takes 2 actions to move twice your stride speed. Why not just take 2 stride actions?

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

You also get to attack. So you're spending two actions to take three.

N/N male dwarf barbarian/1 | HP: 8/24 | AC/TAC: 16/13 (-1 raging) | F/R/W: +lvl +4(2)/+2(0)/+4(2) | Speed 20 ft | Athletics +2, Perc +3, Survival +2 | Active Conditions: raging

I wondered about that. I wasn't sure it meant that since it said you may attack and figured you had to use another action if you wanted to. That makes it useful. Thanks.

N/N male dwarf barbarian/1 | HP: 8/24 | AC/TAC: 16/13 (-1 raging) | F/R/W: +lvl +4(2)/+2(0)/+4(2) | Speed 20 ft | Athletics +2, Perc +3, Survival +2 | Active Conditions: raging

What other options are there in exploration mode than search? Anything he can do with survival?

Female Human Monk 1 | AC 16 TAC 16 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +6 W +3 | Perc +2 | Res 1/1 | Hero 1/1 | Active Status:

Exploration tactics in the book are as follows (page317):
Casting/concentrating on a Spell (fatiguing)
Covering Tracks
Defending (ie. traveling with a shield up and ready)
Detecting Magic
Following Tracks
Hustling (fatiguing)
Investigating (ie. using recall knowledge to look for clues)
Searching
Sneaking
Wandering (this is the default option that gives you no benefits)

Following tracks would probably involve survival, if you think there's a benefit to that.

Male NG Elf Wizard 1 | HP 10/12 | Hero Points 1/3 | Resonance 1/1 | AC 12 TAC 12 | F +1, R +4, W +4 | Perc: +3, low-light vision | Speed 30ft | Arcane Focus: 1/1 | Spells: burning hands, color spray | Active conditions: None.

FYI: I will be away from home and without the ability to post this Saturday, Sept 15-16. I should be able to resume Sunday evening. Bot at needed. Thanks!

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

We'll be embarking on the next section of this investigation soon, but when you get the chance, go ahead and update your characters to the most recent set of Playtest rules - probably some of you will be getting some new skills :)

Female Human Monk 1 | AC 16 TAC 16 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +6 W +3 | Perc +2 | Res 1/1 | Hero 1/1 | Active Status:

Cool, I need to dig into the updates to see what's changed for Monks. Will do so tonight or tomorrow.

N/N male dwarf barbarian/1 | HP: 8/24 | AC/TAC: 16/13 (-1 raging) | F/R/W: +lvl +4(2)/+2(0)/+4(2) | Speed 20 ft | Athletics +2, Perc +3, Survival +2 | Active Conditions: raging

I didn't see any changes that applied to my character

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

The big one that had an impact on some of my characters was the shift to trained skills when they dropped Signature Skills, but the biggest shift (to dying) is something we've already been doing.

NG Female Halfling Rogue 1 | Perception: +5 | HP: 11 (of 15) | Speed: 25' | Stealth: +5 | Class DC: 15 | AC 16, TAC 15 | Fort +2, Reflex+6, Will +5 | Hero Points: 1
Abilities/Spells Used:
0 (of 1 Halfling Luck)
Buffs/Conditions*:
None

So looks like the BIG one that applies to everyone is that untrained skill modifiers are now equal to character level -4 instead of -2, correct? I'll make those changes to my character sheet today.

Greta will keep Finesse Striker, and I think that's about it.

12/15/18 - 10/11/13 Social Media Booster (CPR),

Yeah, fair point. I haven't really redesigned my characters around that, but it's certainly relevant!

I'm running some irl Pathfinder tonight, but I'll move us on to the next Quest before bed.

Female Human Monk 1 | AC 16 TAC 16 | HP 19/19 | F +3 R +6 W +3 | Perc +2 | Res 1/1 | Hero 1/1 | Active Status:

OK, all updated on my end.

Looks like the only thing that really applied to Min was the skill changes (# of trained skills and the untrained penalty).

Male NG Elf Wizard 1 | HP 10/12 | Hero Points 1/3 | Resonance 1/1 | AC 12 TAC 12 | F +1, R +4, W +4 | Perc: +3, low-light vision | Speed 30ft | Arcane Focus: 1/1 | Spells: burning hands, color spray | Active conditions: None.

I'll probably have to review the changes and update this character tomorrow. Hopefully nothing more than the skill changes.
