Crossposting for those here.
Just a note for everyone, my posting is about to drop considerably for the next few days. I'm preparing Day of the Demon for a convention this weekend today and am behind already. Tomorrow I'm off and I'm taking the finance on a little day excursion for her birthday, so I'll be out of access all day. Saturday I'll be in full convention mode with no posting. Sunday should bring things back to normal.

What a coincidence, I'm playing Day of the Demon tomorrow, but not at a convention. In any case, thanks for letting us know and have a good time!

It has come to my attention that the Spherewalker prestige class might be a good fit for Castor, and I'm pondering taking it a higher levels.
It has a few prerequisites but nothing too painful for me, although it would cost me a few levels' worth of channel and domain powers.
I'm hoping Captain Trips would accept Castor's "has spent his entire life on the roads" as an acceptable substitute for "A spherewalker-to-be must have journeyed far in his lifetime, visiting two locations sacred to his deity at least 200 miles apart."
The prestige class would probably be favored as a series of boons granted to Castor by the powers of Desna, as a reward for pursuing a good cause in her name.
The prestige class's bonuses seem all over the place though, I'm not sure how useful most of them would be.
Any thoughts?

I take it you are reading the prestige class from the pfsrd20 site, so I'd like to note this, its actually a Desna specific Prestige class, so it kinda fits even better. Also, I see no reason why the captain cannot put places sacred to Desna that are 200 miles apart into the campaign or have some other way for you to qualify, +5 base attack bonus is awhile away anyway.

On for a short bit this morning before we leave. I believe this is possible simply because as part of Kingmaker you have the chance to found cities in multiple places down the road. Add to that the fact that you can build a cathedral/temple and you have your second location for your deity, the first being wherever you came from, which is easily 200 mile from here.

Oh, turns out I kind of overestimated how much 200 miles is. (I'm far more familliar with the metric system than I am with the international system.)
Also, yeah, between the starknife proficiency, the traveling, the luck bonus, the "Sphere" part of the name, and the butterfly swarm, I'd figured it was about Desna.
That telepathic bond would be really good for the split parties to keep in contact.
I'll go read up the original description.

I'm back! Might be a busy Monday but I will do my best to get something up today to pick up where we left off.

Hmm, I forgot about the alchemist's fire I got from the loot before, yay I have one! Also, would it be possible to use abundant ammunition on the container my alchemist's fire is in so that it's not expended? I expect not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

To throw you all a bone or two, here are some swarm fighting strategies.
- Torches
- Oil (Dendarial had the right idea, but throwing into the square just produces splash damage. This works only if there is fire present as well.)
- Acid
And from what I can tell, you still have party members with valid attack options.

My thought was to add to the fire. I had lit a torch first not knowing there would be fire present.
Since the swarm is stationary the oil should do a full d6 per round for a round or two, yes?
EDIT: I think the problem was that I missed. :(

This is part of what I'm confused about. Did he miss, because I'm not sure what the touch AC of a 5' square is. I'm assuming the spider swarm has a higher than 10 AC, but would a patch of ground? Was the oil lit from the flaming spiders, or is there a flash just leaking oil onto the ground?
Will has none of the options Trips mentioned, but if the oil isn't burning, he could use Spark to set it off at range.

You can't avoid the mechanics of a swarm by targeting the ground, otherwise why bother giving them a touch AC? Just like you can't light a character on fire by hitting the square they are in with alchemist fire, you have to hit the person. The swarm was splashed by the oil, which did a point of damage by feeding the flames on the swarm.
If you want to directly effect a swarm you have to target the swarm's AC, unless you are content with splash damage only.
Per the SRD:
To attack with a splash weapon, make a ranged touch attack against the target. Splash weapons require no weapon proficiency, so you don’t take the -4 nonproficiency penalty. A hit deals direct hit damage to the target, and splash damage to all creatures within 5 feet of the target.
You can instead target a specific grid intersection. Treat this as a ranged attack against AC 5. However, if you target a grid intersection, creatures in all adjacent squares are dealt the splash damage, and the direct hit damage is not dealt to any creature. (You can’t target a grid intersection occupied by a creature, such as a Large or larger creature; in this case, you’re aiming at the creature.)

Anyone else having trouble with the site this morning? I keeps distorting the text for me, making it unreadable. :( Its on and off and worse on some browsers than others but present for all I have tried.
