Silvio Errico |
"Good riddance!" exclaims Silvio as the final spider skitters away.
Silvio keeps a close eye out for more rotting wood or other structural weakness on the decrepit boat. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16.
Ruke Brightonspinner |
Ruke assists Silvio as the rogue does a thorough search of the walls of the boat, attempting to find the outline of a hidden door somewhere within the hold.
Perception Check to Aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Silvio gets +4 to his check
GM Rusty Rooster |
Working together, Silvio and Ruke find the secret door in the hull and push it open, revealing the full extent of the underpier.
A narrow space exists under the fishery, with about four feet of room between the floor of the building above and the languid, foamy river water below. Wooden pilings support the building, and moss and cobwebs hang thick from ropes and rusted chains between them. A wooden walkway floats on the river surface, winding along the inner wall of pilings that supports the building’s frame above, leading from the sodden barge to the east all the way west to a wooden door that leads into an understructure below the fishery’s landbound half.
A shark's fin can be seen moving around, betraying the presence of the predator swimming lazy circles around the fishery.
Sera the Red |
"Well, lets get on with it then. If none of you men will take the lead, let me show you how it's done." says Sera, making a motion to go, but allowing someone to stop her if they want. Come on, which one of you will take the hint.
Sera the Red |
Do you see what I see: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
With the path apparently safe, Sera resumes her place in line as they cross the rickety bridge.
Ruke Brightonspinner |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Ruke, oblivious to anything except the shark circling in the water makes his way carefully across the pier, definitely not wanting to become shark food before finally tracking down Lamm. "Maybe that shark would appreciate some spiders! We should have brought a few, drat." When the group comes to the door Ruke takes up position behind the massive barbarian, ready to quickly flit into the room and take up a defensive position to support the party.
Silvio Errico |
"After you, Nicolai. I'll watch your back." And let you test out the pier! Silvio smiles and extends his hand out, offering to let Nicolai step onto the pier. Assuming Nicolai does, Silvio will bring up the rear.
GM Rusty Rooster |
The party can easily notice, as soon as they step out from the ship, that a very loud commotion is now coming from the city. Not specifically from near the fishery, but apparently from the whole neighborhood, and perhaps even further, though it is hard to make out much of the goings on from where they are.
Silvio Errico |
Silvio perks his ears up. Does it sound like a battle, or people panicking, or a celebration? Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
"Well, that's a mysterious ruckus, but we'd better press on."
GM Rusty Rooster |
The time will soon come to seize your own destiny and unlock your freedom from a long-held grudge. When that time comes, you must think quickly and act swiftly.
While you most likely disregard these words as pointless crock, a shard of yourself feels bolstered by them still. You feel as though your grudge was pushing you forth, and making you more nimble...
The mysterious power of Zellara's harrowing activates, as it is your destined time as the chosen of the Locksmith. Until the end of the confrontation with Gaedrenn and Yargin, you gain a +2 bonus on all rolls modified by Dexterity, and a +1 dodge bonus to your armor class.
Everyone ready to move on?
Sera the Red |
Sera ignores the sound of distant chaos, her focus on the task at hand and nothing will stop justice from being served this night.
Ready to go!
GM Rusty Rooster |
"Here they come!" The raucous voice of old Lamm rings out, like nails on a chalkboard. "Act lively, you dumb beast!"
The air in the room is chilly and stinks of the river, because of the huge opening in the floor, giving way to the shore five feet below.
Several pilings emerge from the waters to support the roof above, with mossy ropes slung between them. In two places, rusty manacles hang from the ropes over the water. Two five-foot-wide walkways cross the hole’s edge to the other side of the chamber, where a collection of old cabinets, lockboxes, and piles of clutter are strewn about.
Through the door, you see a crossbow bolt fly down into the floor, before the roar of a beast makes itself heard. In the water, a fierce alligator, now bleeding from a crossbow wound, goes into a frenzy, splashing and thrashing about.
Crossbow Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
"Gotcha!" Yargin booms, flicking a wand in Krojun's direction.
Use Magic Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The tip of the wand flares and an orb of greenish liquid flies out, straight for Krojun, only to miss him and splatter against the door nearby, with the recognizeable 'sizzle' of acid gnawing at wood.
Nicolai: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Silvio: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Sera: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Staryth: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Krojun: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
Ruke: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Gaedrenn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Yargin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Gobblegut: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Sera and Ruke are up.
Sera the Red |
"Your time is up, scum!" shrieks Sera as she hears the voices of the men that caused her so much anguish in her youth. The splash of acid serving to remind her that they still have a little fight in them yet. "Abadar! Shield this man so that me may better serve your justice. Krojun, if you must cleave your way through Yargin to get Lamm, so be it. My vengeance can be done through another if that is what Abadar has decreed."
Cast Shield of Faith on Krojun, and then gets as thin as she can so the rest of the group can file past her into the room
Silvio Errico |
That wasn't the Gobbleguts I was expecting! Is there a path for him up to the walkway via the beach?
GM Rusty Rooster |
Use Magic Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Yargin flicks the wand a second time, but this time, the instrument does nothing but sputter off a few sparks and a puff of smoke.
"Dumb thing! Work, damn you!" Yargin snarls.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
In a frenzy, the alligator known as Gobblegut can be clibing up the opposite side of the hole and snapping wildly at the air over it before falling back in.
Staryth, Nicolai, Silvio and Krojun are up. Ruke can take his turn whenever he feels like it.
Nicolai Fortescu |
"At long last the moment of vengeance has arrived" Nicolai rushes headlong into the room and begins gesturing wildly as arcane energy crackles between his fingertips, finally bringing his hands together both thumbs touching as his other fingers splay out into a fan shape as coruscating lights spray forth from his hands bathing both Gaedren and Yargin in light.
Nicolai casts Color Spray DC:14 Will save negates.
Ruke Brightonspinner |
He should be able to next round, but Rusty is right, it would take 50' of movement to get that far.
Ruke continues to told, waiting to see where Krojun and Silvio will end up in the battle.
Nicolai Fortescu |
You are correct, I was thinking about the run action but forgot about the turn. Nicolai can double move to where he is and will cast next round. we can keep it is it was and just call his next round a wash unless someone steps into his area of effect rhen they will have to make a save as well. Regardless he will cast his spell, the others will just be collateral damage if the spell takes them out.
Ruke Brightonspinner |
Ruke steps into the room behind Krojun, cursing under his breath that the distance is so far, and continues to move past Sera to stand beside Nicolai, readying himself for whatever trick the wizard has up his sleeve.
Double move, Sera was taking up the space that would have ended my 20' move, so no song this round.
Silvio Errico |
"Time for some payback, Gaedren! Remember me? Your little Lamm is now all grown up."
Silvio also sees that the wizard is preparing a spell, but pays him no heed. Gaedren was his. Silvio runs straight in to the enemy.
Double move into the enemy's face.
Spend a Harrow Point to get +1 AC
GM Rusty Rooster |
I've moved Staryth to where his action would take him.
A vile smile traces itself on Gaedren's face when he sees Silvio enter the room.
"So you came back against my warnings, huh? I knew I should have taken your head instead of your arm. You were always a rotten apple!"
Lamm grins. He may be old, but he's anything but washed up.
"You were always a foolish one, too. Time to fix my old mistake." Gaedren grins, before lunging forward and attempting to bullrush Silvio.
You get a free AoO on Gaedrenn, feel free to roll it on your turn.
Bullrush attempt: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Gaedrenn's shoulder, surprisingly tough for a man his age, plants itself into Silvio's solar plexus, knocking the wind out of his lungs and throwing him off balance. Silvio is pushed back and his right foot goes over the edge, landing on his feet in the shallow waters of the shore, unhurt.
Given the way Gobblegut seems to eye the lad suddenly, however, that much may not last.
Silvio: Climbing back up takes ten feet of movement and a DC15 climb check.
Sera is up.
Sera the Red |
Sera pauses a moment, waiting for Nicolai to finish casting before she rushes in. Unable to get to Yargin, she settles for trying to hit Gaedrenn with her morningstar.
Delay until after Nicolai goes, then move in 30' and attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
GM Rusty Rooster |
Round 2 of combat begins.
Seeing the muscular barbarian advance with thunderous steps, Yargin's eyes widen.
He draws a small pouch from his belt and, stepping out of the corner, lobs it at the muscular warrior.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The tanglefoot bag misses Krojun and lands behind him, splattering resin onto the path, but proving ineffectual.
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Gobblegut, meanwhile, turns its attention to Silvio, menacing teeth bared. It crawls over to him, half underwater, and snaps at his leg. Silvio agilely leaps out of the way, avoiding the attack.
The party, sans Sera, is up. Sera's action will trigger when the time comesé
Silvio Errico |
-From Round 1-
Haha, that was a perfect dramatic moment! (I just realized that Silvio's CMD is actually 15 thanks to the Dodge feat, but I don't want to change a thing about what just happened.)
"Woooooah!" Silvio takes a swipe at the old man as he teeters off the edge.
AOO: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20; Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Crit?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11; Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
GM Rusty Rooster |
-Round 2-
Hah. That would have been a dilemma for me, thanks for being a good sport.
Previous turn
Silvio strikes and lightly injures Gaedrenn as he falls, but the man's grin makes it clear he considers the injury he got absolutely worth the dive Silvio took.
Silvio, Ruke, Staryth, Krojun and Nicolai all have turns to play.
Sera's delayed action will trigger when needed.
