Seherab opens his eyes and sits up slowly, shaking his head. Seeing Dwizzle standing over him, he mutters, "Thanks. I've been knocked out two too many times today. I agree with Hogan, it's time to rest. I don't want anything to escape here though; I think we should camp in the first room or just outside the front doors and take turns keeping watch."

The group, nearly exhausted from the efforts pursued today, find that rest is needed and they head to the tomb that resides above their heads, hoping that the broken stairs are enough to keep any possible threats in the basement as the dwarves pull up their ropes.

The group sets their watches and, as the sun rises up over the shadow of the necropolis, Seherab awakes and notices that Teos has disappeared. There are no signs of combat and it appears that the dwarf merely vanished in the night.

Full rest. No interruptions.

Heh, the metagame moment where your characters would totally investigate the sudden disappearance of Teos as part of plot... but you realize as a player it's the most convenient method to exit an absent player.

Dwizzle rubs his eyes, counting his dwarven companions, but somehow not as concerned as one would expect.

"Hey... did we lose a dwarf last night?"

Even before he gets a reply, he takes a look at his brothers.

"Is anyone still hurt from yesterday? Ra-Tor was generous this morning as I prayed."

@Dwizzle: Right? I've seen cleaner exits where the missing party is given a send off, but you lot are staying overnight in a dungeon, so not many options.

Seherab looks at the ground for a moment and then clears his throat. "Indeed we did. I was on watch when brother Teos came up behind me; he had already packed his things and I don't think he had slept at all. Signed that he had made a mistake in leaving the monastery so early, before his training was complete. He found his faith wavering in the face of so much undeath and senseless violence so he wished to return to the monastery lest he break his vow and lose his faith completely. I only nodded and let him go quietly; I thought it best that way."

How's that?

Seherab sits in silence for a moment longer, thinking of his many good times with Teos, before standing up and brushing off his hands. "Well, there's no sense wallowing. Sarcophagi and mummified creatures of every shape and size fill this chamber. Detailed murals and carvings on the walls depict a wide variety of beasts from the surrounding area and far beyond. The Hall of Immortal Beasts houses the mummified remains of hundreds of creatures—draft animals, quarry from hunts, and beloved pets, especially cats—who would accompany the dead of the Shepses line and guard them on their journey along the River of Souls. A mummified elephant dominates the crypt, but, for now, the room is quiet, its peaceful denizens apparently undisturbed by the ka pulse.

You find no traps or enemies in this room, however there are significantly valuable mummified remains in here. Taking them, however, would be a grievous affront to the gods and the Shepses family.

Tidy wooden cabinets with brass knobs and labels fill this musty library to the brim. A large cedar table stands against the south wall.

Seherab, in his study of history, learned of this mythical place through back channels. The Catalogue of Days is modeled off of Pharasma’s own Catalogue of Last Days, yet instead of recording details of death and judgment, it instead provides a historical accountings of birth, marriage, and other joyous celebrations of life within Wati. With enough time and dedication, a scholar could find the record of any birth in the city stretching back almost 2,000 years, with select family lines stretching even further back to Wati’s founding. The room’s walls are extremely thick and lined with wooden panels, dampening sounds for researchers. It’s almost impossible to hear sounds from the rest of the Sepulcher while inside, and vice versa.

As you enter, you find that this area is not empty, though the silencing effect of the room seems to have kept you from detecting them and from them detecting you (especially during your last fight).

Three skeletal champions stand in a triangle around a severed head, trapped in a gilded cage. "Whaaaat?!" screeches the severed head. "THE LIVING HAVE COME?! KILL THEM MY PRETTIES!" the woman's voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard. "Bring me close so I can chew off their flesh!"

@Hogan: Sure!

Hogan slams his earthbreaker down onto the cage, shattering it, and exposing the woman's shrieking head, hurting her slightly after bashing through the cage.

Saves-DC 16: 4d20 ⇒ (16, 13, 3, 15) = 47

Two of the skeletal warriors seem to resist Ankhef's blast; same with the shrieking woman. "KILL THAT ANNOYANCE!" she bellows.

However, one of the warriors seems to be affected.

That spell is broken! ;-)

The blinded Seherab decides that defense is the best offense as he steps back and quaffs a healing draught.

Dwizzle, seeing that everyone, himself included, is injured, sends out a blast of healing energy to aid the group.

The three skeletal warriors launch into an attack on their same targets, but the woman tales the lead by trying to curse Hogan once more. "I WILL STEAL YOUR EYES TOO!"

Fortitude Save against a Spell; Two Save Attempts + -4 due to Cursed.

The non-blinded warriors move into a fighting position to cleave into further targets, but the blinded skeleton merely tries to hack at Dwizzle some more.

Shouldn't one of the skelies have a miss chance from blindness? Also agreed, burst of radiance is stronk. If it becomes an issue I'm happy to swap it out for something else but considering how we've been barely holding on recently I'm glad to have something powerful to contribute.

@Ankhef: I'm just teasing about the strength. :) As for the miss chance, the green warrior is blinded, but he also rolled a 1 on his attack roll. It is the struck-through attack roll.

Ankhef pauses for a moment, deciding that stabbing at the skeletons with his spear might not be the choice steps back and shouts "Hold on Hogan!" as he begins a summoning spell.

As more of Dwizzle's precious blood sprays on the stone, he cries out.

"Alright! Enough with the cutting!"

The woman keeps shrieking as Hogan overcomes the woman's curse due to his dwarven hardiness.

"DIE WARM-BL *CRUNCH!*"

In a simultaneous strike, Balboa holds the head in place as it hits the shrieking head, stunning it while Hogan crushes it with his earthbreaker. The sound of the skull crushing is sickening, but the battle-hardened dwarves appear immune to the carnage.

Ankhef steps to the side and begins to chant, casting a spell to summon some aid, as Seherab maintains a defensive stance due to his blindness.

Dwizzle, hoping that Hogan will deal with the threat, sends out a blast of holy energy to heal himself and the rest of the dwarves, save Ankhef.

Despite the re-death of the woman, her curse of misfortune seems to persist, at least for now. The three remaining skeletal warriors lash out and continue to try and flay the flesh from their targets.

Hogan lashes out with his hammer as Balboa strikes, but the shrieking head's curse seems to manifest as he winces at the key moment, sending his strike askew.

The Curse from failing the save after the Bite attack from the woman gives you -4 to all d20 rolls.

As Hogan slams the ground, sending shards of stone in all directions, Balboa is able to slam into the warrior.

Ankhef, following up on Hogan's attacks, sends out an eagle which destroys the most injured of the skeletal warriors, landing two strong attacks, despite resisting some of the talon's damage.

Seherab and Dwizzle, seeing (or hearing in Seherab's case) the power of the group, hunkers down defensively.

The remaining blinded warrior continues its onslaught on those to the north, while the non-blinded one tries to take down Balboa and Hogan.
