The aid token has been boosted. Can we boost it more before passing to the other group?
Q: are we at the end of Solstice C or is there another part still? (I remember defeating this dragon in Solstice B, so I'm assuming there's a new part we still have to go through yes?)

GM Blazej |

The token has already been used and passed to another table. I did confirm that you have either the choice to use the token or boost the token and I passed it once you used it on the charge.
For boosting tokens you can only attempt to boost the token once. Whether you pass or fail the token goes to another table.
This is not the end of Solstice Scar C, you do have another part to complete. If you all want to take a well earned break for a day rather than me catapult you into another fight I definitely would understand. The end of this section and the start of the next part of the special will be sometime tomorrow.

Q: in the story, is the next part of the adventure in the next cave where we are hearing noise? or is it on a different day?

GM Blazej |

I was asked if this special would conflict with anything in Session II of the Gameday. Right now there is no chance of conflict with the current schedule. One way or another, this special will be done before the start of Session II in a few weeks. The amazing organizers we have made sure of that.

I don't want to get pissy, and I recognize time is an issue on the special; but I feel we were rushed past buffing and strategics completely. We knew we were going into a fight. We, as players, should have had some time to prepare. As is, we're not even sure what buffs are up and when they were cast. Alchemical Grease, if I had time to put it on, might have made a difference to those grabs. I'm feeling confused and unprepared right now, when as characters we really shouldn't be.
Maybe we can confirm, in this thread and not the main one, what we were planning to have on before the fight started?

How come you don't show your stats Jackson?

GM Blazej |

First, I apologize for that confusion and any irritation that comes along with it. I am trying to keep this game running quickly and generally we have been slightly ahead of pace for the second and third parts of this adventure.
I should have made my thought process clear right from the beginning. I feel ashamed that I'm doing this only now so close to the end.
I assume you start every dangerous part of this adventure by casting your buff spells that you would imagine lasting through that entire series of battles. While I'm not posting that you have time to cast your buffs or use consumables, you could have declared Jackson had put on the alchemical grease prior at the start of any combat post. It has a long enough duration that I would have questioned it at all and that is honestly what I'm expecting from the party. To say "I've cast these spells prior" and go in.
There are two other elements I want to answer separately, short duration spells and buffs you need your allies to activate.
That leaves the question though of where short duration buffs exist. I can definitely imagine the party reasonably thinking that haste is ubiquitous enough that Adsal would have be had it running prior along with shield, especially when you knew the fight was coming. In these cases I'm looking at travel time, which I have been inconsistently relaying along the way. In this case Grimpfkin took a few minutes (I should have outright said about 5 minutes) and by the time he had pointed out your foe, the unidentified wolf creature was already aware of you and the battle had started. With that travel time and the abrupt start to the battle, I would have denied magic that wouldn't have lasted five minutes. It is late into the adventure to do this, but I work harder to better relay travel times though for ongoing buffs and so you know how you can manage your buffs out of combat.
So next are the scrolls and wands your party members need to activate. Unless I have misread the characters in play, aside from Qatala and her own psychic powers, Adsal would be the primary source for (arcane) spellcasting from scrolls as well as the only person trained in Use Magic Device. There has never been an outright discussion on what spells Adsal (or Qatala) will cast for anyone (besides infernal healing). I've never wanted this to be a stall point for this game so I have been handwaving it to a degree when stating that Jackson has someone that was able to cast the greater magic weapon spells. It would be great if Adsal and Qatala would confirm what spell items they are willing to cast without prompting. It would still be good to have interactions with the party, but I will not stop the adventure for a day to wait for the confirmation of any given scroll and you shouldn't need to ask the question "could someone have cast this spell for me?"
It would be great going forward to talk and let each other know what spells are up going forward. Let me know if any of this is not satisfactory to any of you and I'll be happy to try to work it out.

GM Blazej |

As for Jackson's stats. It would be helpful if Jackson's stat bar showed his vital statistics like AC, CMD, and saves. I do have Jackson's (unbuffed) stats in a place I can reference, but it would be easier for me to have something on hand for me to refer to.
Also, shorter version what I said above would be: I assume you always have up your daily buffs without me prompting. I'll give you the time passed since the start of the section and I leave it to you to manage those spells.

![]() |

My understanding for PFS online is that we need to provide stats under the alias. If that's not the case, someone, please let me know... 'cause I could have saved myself lots of time these last few months with just the printed paper sheets beside my computer station! :P

GM Blazej |

I don't know any definitive rules that were given for how each person should present their character.
That said, I have learned over this special that doing it the way I did was a mistake. Thankfully this has only made it harder for myself and not many others. I should have asked Jackson to place the information in this profile in some fashion. We are so close to the end though that I'm not worried as much about it right now. If he does does play Jackson in any other online games I would say that having a clear version of character information in the profile or a link to that information for PbPs going forward is is more than a little important for any other games.

Welcome to my world LucianC! same here for the last two months, until I went to the doc and she prescribed a one-time something to knock me out good, which seems to have reset my internal clock. I find that summers are the worse for sleeping due to the heat and/or temperature variations between cold AC inside and hot weather outside...

GM Blazej |

No worries at all about the stats or anything else. If had a major problem I would have told you. Hopefully you are feeling better after that at least. Let me know if there is anything I can do to make anything easier.
As we get closer to the next combat encounter, I'll give you more of a heads up so that you and the party might have a day to coordinate buffs rather than throwing you straight into the fight.

GM Blazej |

Within the next couple days you are going to get the call to face down the next fight.
It will have been about 90 minutes since you have first entered the woods and about 20 minutes since your last fight with the wolf-like creature.
If you are still injured you can take time to recover your hp with the resources you have on hand.
There will be a rush to get to the site which you should expect to take between one to six minutes to reach. Longer duration buffs can be cast or applied before hand, but if an effect would lapse before the end of you moving into the battle I would expect you to use multiple uses or your first round of the combat to apply shorter duration buffs.
For the sake of time, if there is any scroll or wand you need activated by your arcane caster or others in your group and there isn't a response before the battle starts, you can assume your spell was cast for you. If you need confirmation for that sort of magic before the fight, let me know what and I'll give a more solid answer.
If you do have a question on anything let me know.

I don't believe anyone currently caught in the grapple has an escape artist that would allow an escape without an incredible bonus.

![]() |

It might work of Theritis, unless his numbers cannot hope to meet the plant's...

![]() |

Speaking of Theritis: do you want me to bot him with that shovel? the 'For The King' +4 would cancel out the -4 for improvised weapon....

Reminder:

I still need this information for Adsal, Keela, Theritis, and Jackson.
I also need Theritis to PM an email address (or get it to me some other way) in order to notify the organizers where to send the boon sheet to.

I'm now realizing that i already got this information. Sorry for asking you all to repeat it.
I do need to know if Adsal and Keela have day job checks though.
I did forget one note that I should have asked at the start. Is anyone going slow track for the XP progression on this scenario?
Thank you!

![]() |

Nope - normal track for me! thank you very much for running this. This boss fight was truly epic! (first but probably not the last time Chaine gets swallowed whole! ;) )

![]() |

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me. Theritis is going SLOW TRACK this time (to bring me right to the start of level 12).
And thank you so much for running, especially with all the fits and starts of the website. Thanks to all the other players as well.

Give them a look to make sure I got everything in correctly. Let me know if I missed anything or you need any corrections.
I'll be leaving the thread open for a few days for you to have any final thoughts or get anything you need from me. I'm happy to help with anything I'm able if you have any questions. After that if you need anything you can contact me via PM, email or Discord.
I'm happy to been able to run for all of you and I do hope all of you had a good time playing here and will continue playing in PbP games here and elsewhere.
Everyone have a wonderful day!

Thank you very much and Keela you did very well, I enjoyed your character in marked contrast to my much more studious and sensible monk.

![]() |

It was a real pleasure playing with all of you guys. It was fun spotting the synergy and differences in our characters. And it was awesome because every character felt so unique and different - specially the difference in opinions and attitudes. Thanks again everyone!

GM Blazej |

I'm glad to hear that from both of you. It was an interesting party that reminded my of several of my groups from years past.
I enjoyed being able to run for all of you.

I've never enjoyed being swallowed so much. Ahem. That sounded wrong.
