I think I've got Nilfyr mostly leveled. He's picked up Combat Expertise and Improved Trip, so expect some of that coming up. Along those lines, it looks like his CMB to trip will be (approximately):

Level 3: 2 (BAB) + 3 (Str) + 1 (Weapon Focus (Fauchard)) + 1 (Masterwork Fauchard) + 2 (Improved Trip) = +9

Level 6: 4 (BAB) + 5 (Str) + 1 (Weapon Focus (Fauchard)) + 2 (Enhancement) + 2 (Improved Trip) + 2 (Fury's Fall) = +15

Level 9: 6 (BAB) + 5 (Str) + 1 (Weapon Focus (Fauchard)) + 3 (Enhancement) + 2 (Improved Trip) + 2 (Fury's Fall) + 2 (Greater Trip) = +21 (+ swift action trip on power attack, + AoO's on trip)

Level 12: 9 (BAB) + 5 (Str) + 1 (Weapon Focus (Fauchard)) + 4 (Enhancement) + 2 (Improved Trip) + 2 (Fury's Fall) + 2 (Greater Trip) = +25 (+ swift action trip on power attack, + AoO's on trip, + free trip attempt on critical hit (with improved critical (fauchard)))

Does that look even remotely reasonable? Anything he's missing and/or should pick up? I just realized that, with Desna as his deity, he won't see any use of Sacred Summons until level 13, so I've got a feat freed up. My first thought was Vital Strike (it would mesh well with Felling Smash), but he doesn't have the BAB at level 7 that he'd need. My second thought was Greater Weapon Focus (fauchard), but he'd still only count as a level 7 fighter. I could drop Improved Critical (fauchard) and go with a keen fauchard, getting Vital Strike at 11. Don't know what I'd pick up at 7, still.

@Nilfyr: You could mix it up and take Vital Strike using your level 6 bonus feat, then Fury's Fall at level 7.

Personally, I'd drop Tripping Strike at level 12 and replace that with Furious Focus so you can open with a Vital Strike power attack and then trip afterwards with no penalty on your opening strike.

Also, don't forget to pick up Gauntlets of the Skilled Maneuver (trip) for another untyped +2 bonus and this ioun stone for another +2 competence bonus.

The problem is that Warpriest is a 3/4 BAB class: he won't have the necessary BAB for Vital Strike until level 8. I could, however, go for Furious Focus for my level 7 feat. That said, thanks for the input on the gear - that should work out very nicely. :-)

Actually, the Warpriest bonus feats lets you use you level as your BAB for that feat, so level 6 Vital Strike is possible

I read that twice, but still didn't catch that. That's much better. :-)

So, that means there are three feats Nilfyr could take at level 6 as his bonus feat: Felling Smash, Greater Trip, and Vital Strike. It also means he could pull off Improved Critical (fauchard) or Tripping Strike at level 9.

That said, I think you're right in that Tripping Strike probably won't be the most useful, because of the implementation. Your confirmation roll is what's used to compare against their CMD; if I'm not using Nilfyr's actual trip CMB, I think that would be worse.

So, after some deliberation, here's what I think I'm going to do:

Level 6 (Bonus) - Greater Trip (+2 to trip, tripping provokes)
Level 7 - Furious Focus (+ to hit on attack)
Level 9 - Vital Strike (+1d10 damage on attack)
Level 9 (Bonus) - Felling Smash (trip on attack)
Level 11 - Improved Critical (Fauchard) (+15% critical chance)
Level 12 (Bonus) - maybe Fury's Fall (+2 to trip)

I have not had the time to go look at those changes. Prepping to run 7 mods at Gen Con. Do you understand the changes well enough to summarize?

I do not play to run Art at the con so I figured that was low priority.

Biggest change is the cap on Consume Items/Consume spells to regain arcane pool points. It's now capped by your Charisma modifier (minimum 1). There's much debate trying to see if it can be eased somewhat (such as 3+ Cha modifier).

So in your case, you can consume spells twice per day with your +2 Charisma modifier.

Meh. Good thing I started with extra pool points. I guess the concern is that you only start with your pool half full and players were counting on using the consume deal to fill it up. That said it seemed to be a running joke that Charisma was a dump stat for the best builds so I am ok with the change. I did not believe dumping charisma was intended.

Nilfyr did you have any interest in collaborating on spells known as we level up? This is what I would plan to carry by default:

1st-Divine Favor, Divine Favor, Weapons Against Evil, Protection from Evil

I can only carry one single second level spell, and will only know two for free. I might buy more. I am thinking Glitterdust and Create Pit at the moment. Could go with Burst of Radaince instead of Glitterdust. Thoughts?

Remember I can only memorize one and cast it 3 times a day.

Some combination of glitterdust, create pit, and web would make the most of your spell focus, and I agree that glitterdust and create pit are the most widely useful of those. Burst of radiance is obviously great for an evocation spell, though I am biased towards bad guys being blind now... =)

OK. I am taking Create Pit and Glitterdust. I am not sure which I will start with but feeling pitish.

It is frustrating that I have the gold for a stat boost item but not the fame. This maybe an important note for all: You need 18 fame to buy a stat boost item. At the end of the next part of Emerald Spire you can have up to 16 UNLESS you have purchased two "B" parcels of land in the land rush as Art has, then you can have 18. :)
