This will be PFS based in case I we go with different scenarios versus continuing Emerald Spire. This is a level 1-2 adventure, so if I you have a lil credit or a PC already, feel free to use it.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
All you need to do is register the PC to get the number, the profile can be blank if all you're looking for is the number.
Of course, since I as a GM need that profile to see your PC character stuff, you will need to do that. But if just need a number, the PC profile isn't needed.
Skorn |
Of course. It was just not clear if we needed to PFS legal in character creation OR actually create a PFS character. This will be my character #14.
Still thinking Wizard or Arcanist. I am unsure if the utility is worth the slower spell level progression for Arcanist. Thoughts?
Oh, and Ki, riding his worg, has already charges something for 50 points even using his newly acquired adamantine lance. :)
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Adamantine, huh? Why the extra hardness? :)
I have nearly broken an adamantine scimitar from a dervish dancer... mwa ha ha ha.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Magma ooze, actually :) Those things give a poop about hardness.
Regardless of PCs, I'll put up some introductory text tomorrow morning, but get those PCs created we'll get started!

Sigh. Had my laptop die mid game Tuesday night in a roll 20 game. I have wiped the drive and restored from a very recent back-up, and think I'll be fine but it took a lot of time to do that and too many things were not automatically set up.
Plus I run a game tonight and then camp with scouts the entire weekend. I will try to finalize my build by Sunday night. Sorry to be so slow. Just busy.

I'm a big fan of spontaneous casting, personally. If you aren't going for a PrC or something that depends on being able to cast n-th level spells, then I'd say go arcanist.
So, we tentatively have:
DaWay - martial TWF (dex-based) character
GM Tektite - possibly kineticist
Skorn - arcane caster
Auke and I are still apparently undecided, but I'm assuming we'll want to cover as many of these as possible: tank, ranged combat, skills, and healing.
I'm going to make a Tengu Swashbuckler this season, but that wouldn't really fit those roles. So, for this campaign, I'm looking at:
- Human or Half-Elf Reach Warpriest of Desna (Good/Travel blessings) (tank, healing)
- Wayang Investigator (skills, possibly ranged)
Thoughts?
Skorn |
I am impressed with both investigator and war priest. I played with a strength based investigator with a longspear. Quite a good build. Rocked an 18 strength.
I should (finally) have my archaist built tonight. Note that since we are constrained by PFS rules I plan to potentially take advantage of the rebuild rule, allowing a rebuild any time before second level. I play to test an archetype that I may not like.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Was hoping last week actually, but only you and Julian/Kristoff have replied with a PC.
Nilfyr Starshadow |
Okay, sorry for the delay - this is my warpriest. Please look him over and let me know if he looks okay.
My tentative plan is to use Combat Reflexes and his Good weapon blessing to good effect at first (1d10+1d6 damage to all comers), getting improved trip (to use with his fauchard) at level 3. At level 4, he can start adding various other damage types with Sacred Weapon, too.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
No worries, I'm still waiting a bit long on Nilfyr. Take care and thanks for the update.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Well, the time I would put into this is separate from RPGSS time; that'll be after work when my geologist wife can help me with my mapping idea. Alas, if only GIS was a legitimate map tool :P I appreciate the positive vibes, though!
Now, for some reason, I get to the finals..., that'll be a different story.
Artemus Jarm |
I will be traveling starting tomorrow afternoon to attend Mid South Con where I am helping run PFS. I'll be busy and often without access to the internet so my posting will be very limited if at all. Everyone have a good weekend.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
@Artemus: Have fun! As Nilfyr just opened Pandora's Box of BBEG, I'll bot you in this case... we'll see how it goes! I have a rough idea of Artemus would do (open with a Summon, follow up MM as necessary).
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Ahh, gotcha. I'll wait til tomorrow for that (new post up in 2 hours!)
It does help that you are level 1 and only have 3 combat options :p
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
I saw that, so you oddly may be the most survivable if things go down!
Nilfyr Starshadow |
Nilfyr has been brought up to level 2. He purchased a wand of CLW (2PP), a wand of Bless (2PP), a spring-loaded wrist sheath for each (10GP total), and did an equipment retrain to sell back his fauchard at full price and bought a masterwork one (for an additional 300GP). He'll also pick up a couple flasks of alchemist's fire (40GP).
Artemus Jarm |
Art takes a second level of Arcanist.
He gains:
BAB +1,
Will +1,
5 hit points,
He learns the message spell,
and 7 skill points, allocated thusly:
Appraise +1
Knowledge Duneeoneering +1
Knowledge Local +1
Knowledge Nature +1
Perception +1
Spellcraft +1
UMB +1 for a skill of 6
He will acquire wands of Magic Missile and Mage Armor with Prestige and purchase a Masterwork Crossbow, selling his old crossbow as part of the deal. He will also purchase a +1 cloak, and with his funds he will buy three 1st level scrolls of something, leaving him 6 gold to his name.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Yay! Now I can hope that lucky crits should hopefully not autokill someone (well, all but Artemus, silly arcane caster :P)!
Honestly, I was worried about that with Grulk; ranger with favored enemy human and 3 of the 4 party members counting (and all 4 if Istralanix took human form for some reason :P). I did play this once where a party member was nearly auto killed like that!
Artemus Jarm |
Last slot at the con this weekend I ran a year 2 mod (2-02). A second level party of 5 faced 4 first level mooks and a 3rd level cavalier in the first encounter. Arcanist (my exact build even) summons an eagle to deal with a mook, but unaware of the threat fails to get out of the charge lane. Cavalier charges. Cavalier rolls a nat 20. Cavalier confirms the threat. 45 damage. Arcanist dead twice over. Sadness. I rolled the dice out in the open too, so hard to claim the threat did not confirm or that he was only knocked to -9 or something.
I am thinking I should use a screen for low level encounters…
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Ouch! Plus side, hope the player hopefully learned about avoiding charge lanes...
Artemus Jarm |
Sorry, I am in Breckenridge Colorado for a quick ski trip. I hope to have time to post some, but that did not happen this first travel day. Totally exhausted and have to get up early. I'll be home Sunday.
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Oops... forgot to ask for Day Jobs!
Kristoff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
GM BPChocobo TK2 |
Sorry for the delay; went home sick and didn't get to scanning. Thank you for your patience!
