Round 3:
The waterlevel is now so high that small characters would have to need to make swim checks to move!
To speed up things I'll roll for everyone. As the modifier of the door is the same as any of yours it's who rolls higher wins...
Positive is good, negative is bad (1): 1d20 - 1d20 ⇒ (19) - (5) = 14
Positive is good, negative is bad (2): 1d20 - 1d20 ⇒ (18) - (15) = 3
Positive is good, negative is bad (3): 1d20 - 1d20 ⇒ (5) - (8) = -3
Positive is good, negative is bad (4): 1d20 - 1d20 ⇒ (15) - (8) = 7
At the end of round 3 three of the five chutes are closed.

Looking into the room you all see the following:
Once-cheerful mosaics of smiling children and adults running through the streets of Absalom line the walls, but age and water damage smear the faces enough to make it seem as though they weep. Sturdy work benches and bookshelves line the walls. An intricate mess of bronze chains, plates, pendulums, and gears that form a sort of astrolabe dangle high above the room. Catwalks spin out from the walls in three places, curving on a horizontal plane and meeting in an open circle in the middle of the room. Between the catwalk circle dangles the body of a desiccated elf, ragged and dusty scraps of clothing barely covering his thin, bony body. He seems to be dangled in a maze of chains connected to the massive astrolabe above and the chains clank silently as he lolls his head from side to side.

Talwin cringes just a bit at the macabre scene. He can't believe how used to these sorts of things he's getting. From the doorway he scans the room, detect magic active. He will use detect alignment too, and motions for Muluk to detect evil.

![]() |

This will all take a long time, but Talwin has been burned by charging into rooms before. I'm looking at you, Snarltongue!

Talwin whispers what he finds to everyone.
"Should we try to find a way up so we can let the elf down?"

"Do we need someone to keep watch?", the half elf asks hefting his bow.
"If not, then I can climb up that ladder over there and try to get the body down. What do you think?"

GM Auke |

As Targost speaks out loud the desiccated elf’s head lolls to the side again and his eyes flutter open. He stiffens and tugs at his tethers, screaming with rage. “You! You ungrateful, short-lived insects! I was betrayed and dragged on this altar of pride! Mortality is all you crawling beasts deserve!”

Muluk makes a quick sweep of the room, looking for evil emanations.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
If Muluk detects no evil:
"He's insane, but not evil. Let us try to subdue him without killing him, if possible."
If Muluk detects evil from the individual:
"He is clearly crazed and driven to madness. Let us put him to rest with all due haste."

Targost readies his bow, but holds firing on the elf until he knows what the creatures intentions are.
Hold action..will loose arrow if the elf takes a hostile action against us

GM Auke |

The crazy chained elf mutters some arcane words and you all feel like you're slowing down
Will Save DC 16
Muluk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Targost: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Ebon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 Succes!
Talwin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Ebon manages to fight off the slow spell, but the rest is affected.
Spellcraft Targost: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Targost manages to determine the spell and fires an arrow at the elf. To Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 misses.

"Any... thoughts... on... how... to... reach... him?" Muluk asks, unlimbering his own shortbow and loosing an arrow.
Muluk vs. Abysiel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage (shortbow): 1d6 ⇒ 3

![]() |

Whoops! Nope. didn't see the ladders. Instead of drawing the shortbow, then, let's have Muluk draw his scimitar as he moves (very slowly) towards the nearest ladder.

Targost curses himself for not acting quicker and disrupting the elf's spell. He slowly reaches for another arrow and fires it at the elf.
Attack-ranged: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Is drawing an arrow and firing considered 1 action? I think it is..

![]() |

Not affected by the spell, Ebon frowns at his sluggish companions.
"Maybe not evil, but definitely a threat!"
He says as he draws his bow and snaps off a shot.
attack with bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

"Bah! I should know better."
Ebon grunts as he moves to a ladder.
still using phone so no map access. Double move to ladde or climbing if can reach in less than double move.

From the map it looks like I might have a clear shot at the elf...is that right?
Finally moving to a spot where he can once again see the elf, Targost slowly casts magic missile in the hopes of disrupting the spell the elf is trying to cast.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

GM Auke |

From the map it looks like I might have a clear shot at the elf...is that right?
with a 5' step you can make sure you got a clear shot (moved your token for you!)
A missile of magical energy darts forth from Targost's fingertip flies towards the elf with the intent to disrupt his spell casting. However the magical energies of the strange device the elf is connected to seem to interfere and the bolt bounces off harmlessly.
Knowledge arcana
Talwin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Targost: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Ghosting Ebon
Ebon clibs the ladder and tries to traverse the walkway towards the elf.
The narrow catwalks within his workshop provide a level footing, but without railings, they are dangerous: moving across one at half speed requires a DC 5 Acrobatics check (DC 10 to move at full speed).
Ebon tries to move full speed.
Acrobatics DC10: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 4 = 17

GM Auke |

Abysiel finishes his spell and lots of tiny spiders appear and swarm Targost.
A tug on the chain connected to his arm causes one of the device’s massive pendulums to swing at Ebon.
melee touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Hits
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Acrobatics DC10: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 4 = 6 Ebon is unable to hold his footing and is knocked off the catwalk by the pendulum!
Climb DC15: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 4 = 20 He manages to catch the catwalk and hangs on!
"You are a persistant little bug!"
A coruscating ray springs from Abysiel's hand towards the hanging Shoanti man.
To Hit (Touch): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Hits! (flat footed due to climbing)
Strength penalty: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 save DC 14 for Half
Fortsave Ebon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 Succes! so "only" 4 strength penalty!
The spiderswarm bites Targost
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Fortsave Targost: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Fails
Strength Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1

move action to climb back up?
Pulling himself back up onto the catwalk, Ebon remains prone, trying to avoid any more rays. He then casts resistance on himself.
