Once the others are gathered and no one is around to overhear. Lorn keeps watch as he whispers what he knows of the beast to the others. Open Spoiler

"Very much not a gorilla. Far more dangerous and fully capable of killing anyone on board with little effort. Now that we know, we should stay on guard and stay away should it get loose. Only as a group can it be handled."

It did not take much for him to imagine the beast getting free and some of his more headstrong comrades running right for it without any reinforcements. The girallon would no doubt rip said comrade to pieces in moments.

Are you ready for morning? If yes, the post will come in 12 to 22 hours. Cheers

River Journey – Day 1

Bloodtusk’s keelboat weighs anchor and sets off on the river journey first thing in the morning. Captain Bloodtusk makes it abundantly clear on the first day that you are not idle tourists; Halgra negotiated working passage for you, and you must make yourselves useful while aboard. Bloodtusk expects everyone to help row the riverboat as well as perform other duties. In addition to rowing, each of you can choose one of the jobs listed below. You don’t have to keep the same job for the entire journey, but you must do something daily. Each day, you must succeed at a skill check (or checks) for his or her chosen job to accomplish that day’s tasks.

Rowing: You spend 5 hours rowing the keelboat in the rowing banks. This requires a successful DC 5 Profession (sailor) or DC 10 Strength check. You must also succeed at a DC 10 Constitution check or be fatigued at the end of the shift.

Cooking: You can assist the boat’s cook, Gashnakh, in preparing meals and cleaning, stocking, and maintaining the galley. A successful DC 10 Profession (cook) check or Intelligence check is enough to cook a palatable meal.

Fishing: You can help haul in the day’s catch to feed the crew. A successful DC 10 Profession (fisherman) check, DC 18 Survival check, or a successful DC 10 Strength check is required to haul in the boat’s fishing nets. Four nets are cast into the river each day, and up to two individuals can haul in each net (one attempts the check, while the other can use aid another) every morning. At least one success indicates there is enough food to feed everyone on board for 1 day.

Lookout: You can watch for hazards from the crow’s nest atop the mast. Three successful DC 10 Climb checks are required to get to the crow’s nest. Any PC stationed in the crow’s nest gains a +2 circumstance bonus on Perception checks to notice approaching threats.

Sounding: Helping the keelboat’s pilot avoid the shallows along the riverbeds requires a successful DC 10 Profession (sailor) check or DC 15 Perception check from the forecastle.

Stable Mucking: Maintaining the horses and stable requires a successful DC 10 Handle Animal check, DC 10 Profession (stable master) check, or DC 15 Ride check.

So, please select what you are doing for the first day and make the appropriate rolls.

Wulfrum didn't see much of a point in really helping out on the ship. He wasn't too eager to help out and so he took a chair and chose the job that would have him doing what he would likely have already been doing. So tempted to go rowing just for giggles...

Lys decides to go to the stables and take care of the horses. On the way there, she looks at Arlan climbing the mast with questionable success, and sits there looking at him. Is he showing off, or is he just that bad?, she thinks, before grinning as his mug appears from the crow's nest.

"HEY! ARLAN!", she shouts, making sure the half-elf has heard her. "PUT AN APPLE ON YOUR HEAD!" The massive crossbow is starting to raise as the tiny human's grin widens. "C'MON, IT'D BE FUN!"

Seeing the orcs around her share questionable looks at her, she grins. "Би тоглож байна , гэхдээ тэр нь мэдэх хэрэгтэй байна."

Orcish:

"I'm joking, but he doesn't need to know that."

Venturing into the stables, she pats her horse on the head. "Hey, Bum. I'm appointing you as Acting High Equine Councillor of this here stables. Your job will be to give judgemental looks at other horses and animals, while doing few to no actual work. At ease.", she informs the horse, picking up a broom.

Ride: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

As I understand it, everyone does rowing plus something else Lys :)

Nerak despised rowing, simply because he was ulfen did not mean he was strong. Perhaps if he melted his paddle they would figure out he was a mage not some northern barbarian if everything else about him did not make that apparent. He thought his lack of large muscles and slender frame were a dead give away.

Strength Check vs DC 10: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Constitution Check vs DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Apparently where his more physical inclined comrades failed he did not as expected. He wondered if their was some sort of magic at work, then again he reminded himself the ship was far from advanced and bad luck did happen no matter how well one planned.

When his shift was done he thought he would head to his claimed sleeping location. Casting a spell to make sure he did not break his neck in the attempt he began to climb.

Climb DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Climb DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Climb DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Climb DC 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

After nearly tripping on solid ground in the first attempt he made it in the second. But failed to progress only to make it more then half way when his muscles failed him, after a few moments of trial and keeping from plunging to a very painful fall he finally made it to the top. Where Lorn waited and waved his rocky arms in the air in celebration at his arrival.

Perception (Nerak): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Perception (Lorn): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Catching his breath he scanned the area for any danger with Lorn on his shoulder. He was tempted to tell the captain to have the girallon do some of the rowing, but good sense and judgement kept that a pure fantasy.

So wrong he passed the rowing. At least things went back to normal when he started climbing even with bull's strength cast on him. xD

Without waiting for an answer, he grabs the rock-creature and balances it on his head, shouting back down to Lys.

River Journey – Day 1 afternoon

The only full-blooded orc on Bloodtusk’s crew, Coxswain Halrex directs the crew in its day-to-day duties, particularly the rowers propelling the boat. Halrex is strict and gets every last ounce of effort out of those she directs. The Coxswain wants a good start for the trip so assigns you all to row in the afternoon.

Therefore, you are all not fatigued when this happened and are going about your second job assignments before lunch.

Lys & Beltzer:
Spending time around the old, warhorse finds it to be very affectionate. The old animal bonds quickly and shows signs of wanting to accompany you after the river voyage.

When the day’s first catch gets hoisted up on the deck, the deck rail breaks plunging Oorug, one of the boat’s crew members, into the river.

Arlan & Nerak:
Besides the scenery of the Hold of Belkzen, you two have be tracking two large crocodiles following the keelboat,
hoping to find an easy meal of discarded fish parts. They head straight for Oorug.

Locations:
Crow's Nest = Arlan & Nerak
Stables = Lys & Beltzer
Sitting somewhere = Varin & Wulfrum

Arlan jumps off the crow's nest and lands surprisingly light on his feet.

Boots of the cat with successful acro roll--so the first 10 ft of falling damage is negated, the second 10 ft of falling deals 1 nonlethal, and each 10 ft of falling after the first 20 ft deals 1 point of lethal. I'm not sure how tall the crow's nest is.

No worries, Wulfrum is useless in the water as his only option for getting to a position where he could do anything.

Varin grits his teeth and begins to swear viciously in every language he knows, before stripping out of his shirt and grabbing his hopeknife from its sheath."Besmara be kind and Pharasma avert your gaze. Oi, Cailean you old wine soaked rogue, some of your luck would be greatly appreciated right now!" With a last roared expletive, Varin took a running leap and propelled himself over the side of the ship and in to the water.

Swim(Untrained)-1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

I assume that is enough to get me to within range of a Croc, it is only 5ft right? If not just ignore the next part...

Taking a deep breath to fill his lungs, Varin plunged down to the level with the Croc holding the mans legs and lashed out with his dagger, stabbing towards the Croc with all his might.

Power Attack Hopeknife-1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Breath- (26/28)

EDIT: If that swim is not enough to get me within range, if it only allows me to stay afloat, I'll ready the above attack instead.

Nerak thinks quickly of the cost, but then again his friends would never let him hear the end of it.

"Damn it!"

Is all he says before taking out a scroll and starting to cast.

Using scroll of summon monster 1, summoning a celestial dolphen to give the crocs something else to chew on, or get beaten by in the water.

I cannot access the map--I'm home, but it's not loading on my computer for some reason. Anyway, I was on the edge of the ship near Oorung. So I should be able to do this...

Now it's a party! Arlan smiles at Varin's fear of the water, pausing for just a moment before diving in after him and driving his knee towards the croc, but the thrashing half-orc throws off his aim.

Swim: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Unarmed Strike, nonlethal, PA, water penalty: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 2 - 2 = 5

Unarmed AoO if someone tries to grab me: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25

Damage (half of this): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Free action intimidate (Enforcer) after AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32

Savage Grappler:

This may come into play: Arlan takes only half the normal penalties to Dexterity, attack rolls, and combat maneuver checks when he has the grappled condition. He can make an AoO against creatures trying to grapple him even if they possess the Improved Grapple feat or the grab special attack. If he hits with this attack of opportunity, he gains a +2 circumstance bonus to his CMD against the grapple attempt. He cannot make these attacks of opportunity once a grapple has succeeded. This ability replaces uncanny dodge.

Round 3

Varin does 9+3=12 damage to the blue croc

Beltzer takes 5 damage; Oorug heals 5-6=1 damage

Oorug fails to break free but keeps his head above water.
CMB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Swim check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

The croc on Oorug continues to chow down.
bite blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
blue damage to Oorug : 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
grab: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Oorug takes 10+1 =11 damage and is prone and pinned.

The other croc looks for another morsel. If it grabs Varin, he is death-rolled.
bite red on Varin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
damage to Varin: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
grab Varin: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

I think Varin takes 7 damage and is grabbed and prone.

The crocs are 5 feet underwater. AC 14, touch 10, flat-footed 13

Please post Round 4 actions

Arlan screams, launching a hidden dagger into his hand and submerging, stabbing furiously at the already injured beast.

Swift: Spring-loaded wrist sheath

Free: Enter rage

Swim down to engage croc: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 24

Stab Blue Croc, power attack, vs grappled AC: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 - 2 = 15

Damage: 1d4 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 4 = 11

* Saltmarsh *

blue croc takes 11 +12 = 23 damage and goes unconscious

The croc releases Oorug and starts to float away.

Grab that Croc! We can use it for boots.

Varin grits his teeth against the pain and twists to get a better view of his attacker. With all of his might, he stabs down in to the beast.

Power Attack-1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 181d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Breath- (24/28)

* Saltmarsh *

Since Varin is prone (-4 to attack) and grappled (-2 to attack), Varin does not damage the croc.

I'm Prone? From being grappled once? I thought I had to be grappled then pinned? Okay so.

H.hex:

I assume you are prone due to whatever 'death-roll' does in the previous post.

Beltzer absorbs some more damage from Oorung who is at least a bit safer now. "Someone grab Oorung before he floats away."

Beltzer attempts to find a net to fling at Oorung or an oar to stop him from floating far.

Move action, search for something perception(if needed): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19, free action +5hp Oorung, -5 hp Beltzer

Standard action will depend on if I find anything.
