Male Dwarf Korak

You begin to hear the guards returning.

Luckasz:
Her message delivered, she rises and the guards return. Immediately, her demeanor once more changes and she is
again a perfect picture of grief. No, I can’t bear to leave you! She gives Luckasz a kiss on the cheek. The kiss is ice-cold and feels somehow alien and inhuman.

Tomas shakes his head. I’m afraid it’s time, miss. She looks deep in Tomas’ eyes and says, Thank you for letting me say good-bye. There’s no need to search my dearest. You are such a good friend for letting me see my dearest one more time.

Such a good friend, Tomas repeats his voice almost mechanical. Then the watch sergeant seems to snap out of it and bows politely. A pleasure, madam, She leaves unveiled. Her eyes meet Lucjasz"s one last time and she briefly gives them a wicked smile.

Three days, telepathically echoes in the Kickaszs mind. Don’t disappoint me, dearest. The visitation concluded, Luckasz is taken back to his cell by a cadre of guards and shackled once more.

You only have a few minutes before they are upon you, presumably with Luckasz in tow.

Zedekiel perked at the sounds echoing down the hall. That was all the signal he needed. Rolling his eyes he nodded at Bleepos.

"Nunc tempus esset . Maecenas sit amet intrinsecus per centurias pronuntiaret. Mordebit illud , comedent eam . Cum mittere praesidio relinquere resurgere."

Draconic:
Now would be a good time. Remember, the key is in the inside pocket. Bite it, swallow it. When the guards leave throw it back up.

He then proceeded to explain where he saw the guard slip the key, so that Bleepos would know exactly where to bite. With any luck, he'd rip a good chunk out, along with the key. After all, there wasn't any room for another kind of commotion... If it failed, well, they'd have to improvise.

*facepalm* forgot to hide the spoiler for what to reply to. Fix'd. I like reading what's going on, what can I say?

Bleepos will attempt to free himself this way, but then keep both hands on the shackles to pretend he's still chained. As the exact guard pointed by Zedekiel approaches, he will jump in surprise and bite his clothes, pocket where the key is, and try to swallow it immediately. Just to proceed, later, crying:

Shackles hurt Bleepos! Bleepos scared of big strong guard! Don't hurt Bleepos! Bleepos confessed all his criiiiimes!

Male Dwarf Korak

They ignore Bleepos and shackle Lukasz back in place leaving the cell without passing close enough to bite them. The Sergeant locks the doors and raps on a door out of sight before he and six others walk off.

Lukasz looks on in surprise at the erratic goblin, he knew that their kind was crazy, but not that crazy...why would the little creature do that? He thought.

Shrugging as the guards left, he waited for several minutes, giving the guards time to settle in to their likely routine. Then, looking at Bleepos with one raised eyebrow, Lukasz asked, "What was that all about?"

Zedekiel sighed, hanging his head. What did I expect? I mainly deal with humans and halflings... They'd have picked up on the need to make a scene....

"Well, it's time to improvise... They'll notice he's free eventually.... Ah ha... Isabella... How good are you with your hands? Besides when making an incision?" As he spoke, he rattled the manacles above his head a bit, twisting his hand and fingers in the motion for palming and pocketing something. "After all, a physician should deal with a broken hand. And these devout followers of Mitra would surely want their prisoners in excellent health before they die." The sarcasm was positively dripping.

Perhaps one of us can convince the guards to re-set the goblin's fingers before they re-manacle him.... Lift the key after we're unshackled...

Shaking his head, the former barrister whispered "Too soon." But it seemed the Lukasz had no choice now, the guards seeing the goblin like this would make them suspicious. Unraveling one end of the veil, he quickly looks it over to see what it might do. "While you all were devising this hastily executed plan, I was meeting with the messenger of a benefactor, who wants to meet with us. Let's use our time wisely and see what this gift can do." Looking over the designs on the veil, Lukasz did his best to decipher their meaning.

From some of the designs, I think I can guess what they are, would Lukasz be able to guess without resorting to magic?

Dexter watches the Goblin with fascination mesmerized by what it is willing to do to get out.

Dexter looks to Zedekiel, "Depends on how sturdy that door is, if its as well made as these manacles not much of a prayer".

Dexter smiles and whispers, "An interesting turn of events. This item contains thieves tools you say? Can you get the set to me? With them I should be able to get these shackles off of me and then the rest of you. I may even be able to unlock our cell door.

Before we do, we should decide what to do once we confront the guards. We cannot allow them to raise the alarm or we will be right back here with no hope of escape..."

When the guards returned with the other long legs, Leekoo grinned with an evil thought. "Leekoo Weekoo needs to pee! Leekoo Weekoo will go wee!" With that, Leekoo thrust out his hips and released a golden stream...directly on the guard's leg. Leekoo started cackling in delight, which increased as the other goblin, Bleepos if he remembered correctly, jumped onto the other leg before starting to cry.

When the guards left, Leekoo looked around, now bored, until the long legs that left pulled out a shiny cloth. "Leekoo Weekoo see shiny cloth. Leekoo Weekoo trapped like moth."

Turning his head towards Dexter, Lukasz whispers, "Can you unlock Bleepos' manacles so that he can get his hand back in without locking them back up? We should take some time to track the guard's movements, when the changing of the guard happens, and how much time passes between guard changes, if possible. Of course that would require at least appearing to be secured in our cell." Then, Lukasz looks around, in an attempt to get a good layout of the room they are in, distance from where they are to the door the guards used, other rooms in the area, etc.

Knowing that they would all need to work together if any escape was going to be successful, he turned to the others in the group, reiterating, "We have a plan for what to do once we are away from the prison. But our benefactor is leaving it to us to effect an escape. As for the guards, I have some weak divine magic available that can be used to force commands on someone, it is of limited range and duration however and will only affect one guard. If the rumors of Brandescar are true, then we should do what we can to move about stealthily. Currently, I doubt we have the ability to confront a prison full of trained guards. Anyone perceptive enough to hear what might be going on in the next room? That might give us some insight into guard patterns and information about the prison itself. " Taking another look at the veil, Lukasz continues whispering, "This veil has several items of use. Anyone particularly skilled with daggers? The coin might be useful for a bribe or two."

Bleepos can most definitely use a dagger! - the little Goblin says, shaking his broken hand.

Bleepos is free now! But still locked behind bars. Plan didn't quite work! - he says, looking around for cockroaches - At least Bleepos can eat a little bit!

Can I try to unlock the door using the thieves tools and disable device?

Zedekiel had closed his eyes, and sat back, relaxing as he listened to the others. A small shrug at the mention of the dagger. He was a little too busy digesting the information, and trying to think of a way to snag a key or two.

"Hmm..... I can hold my own, but I'm not the best in the world with a dagger..." A small sigh, "I had hoped we'd have had a key to the shackles by now, that we could hold on to until we had a better opportunity... Excuse me a moment."

He'd cant his head to the side, angling his ear towards the door. Brows would furrow slightly in concentration, and take his time, listening closely for anything of use outside of the cell.

I'd like to take 20 on my perception check for this, which would equal to 29.

Male Dwarf Korak

All you hear is the sound of the guards moving around in their room. They're doing nothing of particular interest that you can make out.

"Bleepos. Keep quiet.", Lukasz hissed through clenched teeth. "Or you won't get a dagger." To Dexter, Lukasz iterated, "They didn't take me far, it was some sort of meeting room not far from here. We should probably wait until the next guard change before we try any type of escape. Once one of you use the tools to free everyone, we can surprise the guards in the next room and try to take them out as quickly as possible. Maybe by first getting into a position where we can surprise them as soon as they come through the door."

"Nothing of interest." He opened his eyes and shook his head, then looked around at this rag tag bunch. "We have three days? We should try and obtain some allies.... At the very least, some bait the rest of the guards garrisoned here can keep their attention on while we slip out the back... All I've been able to figure out by watching them is that they're well trained, know what they're doing, and the keys to the shackles are generally kept in interior pockets, while the door keys are on the fat one's key ring. They all appear to be in rather excellent health as well."

Male Dwarf Korak

Whoops. Was only thinking about the guards. You can make out heavy breathing in one of the other cells.

"Logical. Unfortunately, I think we will have to try and sneak out the front. I just remember coming in through the gatehouse. This will be tough not having a good layout of the place. I doubt the guards will allow us time to stretch our legs though." Pausing for a moment to think, Lukasz continues, "The thieves tools will help with locked doors, though if a little slower than a key. As I said, we could use the coin as a distraction."

Hell yeah we're all getting out of this b!##%!

Isabella's eyes widen at the sight of the veil, and a smile slowly spreads across her face as she hears Lukasz' explanation. She leans out from the wall, pulling against her restraints to get a better look at the magical cloth.

"Although I am certainly eager to be free of this place, and to meet our mysterious benefactor, I agree that getting a better measure of the security here is our best move now. At the very least, we can watch the guards' movements tonight and tomorrow, and attempt our escape the following night. Perhaps our gracious hosts will even bring us an evening meal..."

She softly rattles her manacled hands. "I certainly can't stand toe-to-toe with one of the well-armed guards here, but I've been handling such blades all my life, and when the time comes I know where to slip one to keep a guard quiet. Give the shoddy blacksmith the lock pick to free us and manage the first few doors here, but I doubt we will have need of the front door, when it appears we can make our own window." She pauses to peer again at the veil, smiling broadening.

"Rather than simply slipping quietly out into the night, however, I might like to repay some of our captors for their wonderful hospitality, if we can do so and remain undetected. Particularly the sluggish-looking bastard that gave us these." She lifts her arm, displaying the branded "F" as well as she can with her restricted movement.

After a few hours you see new guards come and take the place of the others while carrying meals. You continue to wait through the night. In the morning the guard changes again, this time they carry more food and after awhile open your cage and move to give you with food and drink. They do not release you at any point. One guard stands to the back with a signal horn while the other feeds you.

Zedekiel sat in meditation, listening closely to the goings on outside their cell. Ever since he met that man, and been swept into the web of darkness of deception, he noticed certain aspects of himself changing. For one thing, he had become much more alert to the goings on around him.

Though there was nothing of interest with the guards when he had listened before, he did hear some extraordinarily heavy breathing. Either there was a fat man in a cell, or something not entirely humanish.... Well, perhaps an orc, half orc, or a dwarf could make that breathing, as far as he knew.

While everyone else worked out the details, he kept his ears open, eyes locked with eerie silence on the cell door, head canted ever so slightly to the side. He sat with an unnatural stillness, broken only by the steady rhythmic breathing, and the occasional adjustment to avoid total numbness.

When it came time for food, he paid special attention to the sounds of whatever was making that breathing. He had a hunch that whatever it was, would probably not be happy about being here.

In effect, he's taking 20 on perception checks, total 29, whenever he's awake to pay attention, especially at meal times.

He was forced to take a small break in his observations when it was time to be fed. After his first few bites, he smirked at the guard with the horn, and looked him over.

"Didn't I tend to your mother a while ago? Yes I think I did... She was rather gracious with her thanks, her lips were quite wonderful. Shame your father didn't make it, he could've watched."

He was purposefully prodding, seeing if he could get a reaction. What that reaction was, could be very enlightening.

If that'd be a dice roll, I'm not sure what it'd be. Bluff?

Male Dwarf Korak

The guard's eyes narrow and his hand tightens on the horn. He comes into the cell as he pulls his club and hits you in the face with it. damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Zedekiel's smile at the man is positively charming and innocent. Right up until he gets hit in the face, though he did toss a wink at the man right before it hit. His head turned to the side with the blow, and he slowly rolled it back up. He looked down his nose at the fool with the club. His smile turned into a rather wicked grin.

"That's no way to treat a physician, now is it?... Are you sure Mitra would approve of your damaging a precious commodity on its way to mine your precious salt? Do your superiors know you're willing to cost them their profits?" His grin widens a bit more as his eyes narrow. "That temper might be caused by a malfunction in your brain. Want me to take a look for you? You know, before your boss docks your pay for damaging his profits."

So, nothing of note from my perception checks of all those hours? Also, I'd like to roll a bluff check to convince the guard his boss is profiting off the books from the prisoners sent to the salt mines, if that's alright.

No bluff needed. It's probably true. He punches you in the face. Nonlethal: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Shut yer fool mouth. The other guard takes him by the shoulder and tells him he'll give him a few moments. He grabs the horn and walks back towards the guard room without feeding the goblins their meals. Whether this is an oversight, not caring, or a deliberate attempt to avoid their fangy mouths is uncertain.

Zedekiel let his head roll with the punch again, shaking his head as the guard told him to shut up. He chuckled softly, flexing his fingers. He could already imagine driving one of his mercy spikes into the man's neck... Though, for this guy, he'd probably jam it through both jugulars and his wind pipe sideways...

"Heheh.... I like you're spunk, you know that? Not as much a fool as the rest of these guys..." He spat out the small bit of blood onto the floor, listening for the door to the guard room to close before he continued. He looked the guy straight in the eye. "You know, I've traveled all around Talingarde. Seen all kinds of folk. Your buddy reminds me of the kind of guy that'd snitch to his boss if he thought it'd get him in good for a promotion... Regardless of what it'd do to his co-workers. You seem like a fairly smart guy too, it must have dawned on you what he's probably doing with those 'few minutes' he's giving you... Anyways, sorry about that crack for your mother, eh?"

Seeing the results of the exchange between the horn wielding guard and Zedekiel, Lukasz does his best to stifle a grin. That just might be the way out, he thought as the guards feeding them left.

Once he was sure the guards were tucked away in their little room and Zedekiel was conscious again, Lukasz whispered, "Good work there. I think we have a plan now. We spread our resources during the day and then wait for the next meal time, as the guard shifts for the evening. They should be off their guard after that little spectacle. Draw them close and spring on them. We are likely to only have on shot at this, so focus your efforts on the horn wielder first."

One dagger to Isabella and one to Dexter as they are more likely to hit and not get hit. Bleepos has his bite that he can rely on until we find more weapons. Thieves tools to Dexter. Will use spare time in our planning to figure out what the potion is. The rest of the items will stay on the veil. Also feel free to chip in on this plan everyone as it is developing.

Zedekiel's brows furrowing were the first sign of his waking up. He sat up straighter, shaking his head with a groan. He seemed to be extremely goal oriented though, since he slipped right into a whispered reply.

"Nng... There's something, or someone, pretty big in one of the other cells. I heard it earlier, when I was trying to get a feel for what's going on when they're not wandering around. Might be someone worth looking into... In fact..."

He sat up straight, and looked at the door. Running his tongue over his teeth real quick as he realized he should check for missing teeth, he took some time to calculate what to say. The direct approach could work. Either way, it'd let us know if any of them are in the hall, or just in the guard room... Huh, bastard loosened up one of my molars...

"So, fellow jail mate, what are you in for big fella?" He kept his tone as jovial as possible, putting on his most friendly, almost tavern persona. He did, however, say it at above normal conversational level, to make sure he was heard.

If he didn't get a response, he'd roll his eyes. Apparently, this one either isn't observant enough, or isn't smart enough to know I'm talking to them. And then he'd make effort to clarify he was talking to whoever was in the other cell.

Dexter nods at Lukasz, "I am in, if I am going to die anyway better with a dagger in my hand then one my knees".

I think the plan is (1) get our shackles unlocked (which I think taking 10 or 20 will work as lord knows we have time), (2) Zedekiel baits the guard into striking him again, (3) as he does so we spring on the guard with the horn so the alarm does not sound as the primary target, (4) get the keys from them and whatever they have to supplement what is on the veil, (5) find out who else is chained here as well, (6) sneak out of this place and meet our benefactor on the moor.
Alright Bleepos, Thieves Tools to you then!

I rolled a 20 on my Escape Artist above, for a +29, and wasn't able to get out of the manacles. I was just able to do it when I broke my wrist. Not sure taking 10 or 20 will work... Will wait for the GM

Male Dwarf Korak

skill twenties are not auto successes, also, not your wrist, but a bone in your thumb. I feel the need to point out you've had one meal and you're pretty sure it was sometime on your second day, if you wait for mealtime again it may be on your third day which will limit your time to escape. Leekoo and Bleepos in addition have not ate at all. If you wait too long they might be dead weight.

He doesn't answer back.

Please allow me some questions: :):

1 - I didn't mean my 20 was an auto-success: I meant that even a +29 didn't make the skill check, so taking 20 is virtually gonna do nothing for us (it's the same as rolling a 20, just taking much longer)

2 - Did my Heal check help me heal back my thumb?

3 - Are there insects (cockroaches etc.) on the cell? Can I try to reach one of them and eat?

Bleepos starts trying to reach for roaches around him. He's hungry, and it's driving him crazier by the minute. If he can grab multiple roaches, he will crunch some of them and try to throw to Leekoo.

You can set it back into place but that's all. With you're free hand you can reach out for insects and rodents in the cell.

Bleepos reach out for insects and rodents, eating some to try to satisfy his hunger. He then proceeds to kill a rat and try to throw directly to Leekoo's mouth. He whispers before throwing:

Otvori usta! Mala stvar glodara ima dobre masti za mišiće ! Pomaže raste u glavu i jača kolena. Možete veliki trkač ako jedete krzno i sitnih zubi previše.

Goblin (using Bosnian):

Open mouth! Small rodent thing has good fat for the muscles! It helps growing the head and fortifies your knees. You great runner if you eat the fur and tiny teeth too.

Finally, he tries to use his free hand to free the other one, using the tools from the veil. He keeps his big ears in attention for the guards movement around.
