In the meantime, I've been building and rebuilding different variations of my character.
I think a two-weapon warrior fighter is probably better for exploiting the Dimensional Agility feat chain. The "Equal Opportunity" ability a TWW gets at 13th level would generate even more Attacks of Opportunity during the Dimensional Dervish attack rounds.

Sorry about the disappearance guys, its been a long couple of weeks for me. I'm opening up game play now, the first part will be individually, so you won't need to worry about the other two players that haven't joined in yet. I'll run that part in person with them. In your Game play post, I want you to tell me where you are and what you are trying to do at the moment (i.e. current quests, goals, conquests, or something like that. You could also be retired or starting a family too. Up to you.)

No problem on making a post.
But, some of the details of the questions I (and others) have asked to help us complete our characters are likely to have a bearing on said post.
Monkeygod asked:
1) Would it be OK to have Gloves of Dex like in 3.5, AND a Belt of Str and Con? If so, would the gloves cost more at all?
2) How much role-playing/social interaction with the world at large will there be?
3) Any chance you'll let me have one of my favorite items from 3.5, Belt of Many Pockets, to serve as basically a utility belt?
And GM Pandorica asked:
GM if we can have 3.5 items could I ask is it ok if I have:
Lady Rosalyn Luminass asked about the other two players.
I asked a question about a houserule for Arcane Armor Mastery (removing swift action need). If the feat stays as is, I'll have to take a PrC to overcome it.

Game play is still closed GM, dose this mean you wish us to post here, that info about what our PCs are doing.

Wivvy |

Nope, it just means that I'm an idiot. It's open now.\
Gonna have to say no to 3.5 items
There will be plenty of social interactions (especially in the first part of the campaign), some of which could get you powerful allies in battle.
The houserule is fine.

Monkeygod |

I have had a seriously, very busy last couple of weeks, and have not really had much time to work on my PC. Thus, I believe I will bow out and let somebody who is already finished have a spot. Unless Wivvy wants to give me more time, I feel this is the most fair thing for all involved.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Sooo,
I gave a joke post about researching a grease spell that used banana's.
But...
Then I started thinking about a jokester. A chaotic character who's spells had a slight bend to them.
Not the stab your friends in the back kind of chaotic. Nor the "kill the village to save it" kind either.
The "he cast a spell and the floor was covered in banana peels" kind.
Every spell, or nearly every one, has some sort of twist to it.
Keep in mind that the backstory already has an assumption that no two wizards write their spells the same, hence the spellcraft check needed to copy a spell from a spellbook.
I'm thinking something like:
Instead of burning hands, it's a flaming gas attack. The somatic component being turning around, bending over, and holding a match between his legs.
Casting fly and little wings sprout from ankles, or flower petals spray from one's backside.
To cast phasewall one must draw a door on the wall.
Casting mount isn't necessarily a horse. Might also be a rainbow colored zebra, an alpaca, a donkey, or a dog on a tricylce.
I'll leave it to your imagination how create water works.

A 4 armed adventurer teamed up with an arms merchant... I think I came out good on that deal.
I have to flesh out a bit of gear and some spells. Most of the class crunch is done. wizard 20 // fighter 1 / Rogue 14 / Horizon Walker 3.
Kawai is likely going to be TN. With tendencies towards LG, and not afraid to get his hands dirty, assuming he can't find a patsy.
Sounds like he would be a good partner for an arms merchant. "Swords don't kill people. We simply sell tools that others may use as they see fit."
Portable holes that have been masked as non-magical items are awesome for smuggling 'tools', light enough to be carried by an animal companion or familiar as well.

Wivvy |

GM Wivvy, do you have a problem posting more than a block of posts once every few days? I'm looking at your posting frequency pre Xmass and after and its coming at as a few posts every 3 to 5 days. Is this the frequency of GM posts we can expect for the game?.
Hopefully not, I'll try and keep it at a more steady rate of posting, but no guarantees on weekends.

Sazzat Tamm |

Wivvy, how would you feel about expanding the Companion Figurine feat to work with an Obsidian Steed
It would make it a Heavy Horse animal companion along with its usual magic powers?
I'm using the Obsidian Steed as Tamm's means of traveling between the planes, this would just integrate the critter more into his character.
I'd have to figure out a couple feats to drop to make it work, but it seems like a cool enough twist on his story that it would be worth the effort.

That's fine.
Monkeygod, you can still go through this first section without a completed PC.

Sazzat Tamm |

Let me think on whether I want to rebuild around the steed.
It would be cool to essentially ride around on a nightmare, but I'll have to see if I can squeeze in the feats.

Sazzat Tamm |

@fnord - nice character sheet, one of your favored terrains needs to be astral
@Wivvy - I'm going to look at doing a quick rebuild with the nightmare steed. This gist of the character will stay the same. I'll do less HW and then either do more ranger or something with a mount to get the mount up to snuff. (Alternately, I could drop a couple feats and use boon companion to boost what ranger 8 gives me)

Lady Rosalyn Luminass |

Ok with the speed and just plane lack of input form this GM I am dropping out this game. Its sad to see one post a week on a level 18 game. 104 posts a year, we get into a combat and it will be Xmass 2016 before we get to the end
GM I suggest you make it clear next to that you CAN make a post rate that has meaning even for PbP.
All the best all.

Monkeygod |

Wivvy, I think I'm going to bow out as well. I've just had too busy a life lately to get my PC even started really, let alone finish it.
If it means anything, I'd like to offer my spot to Rynjin, who seems to have a really cool concept, and is definitely different from mine(which is close-ish to some of the other PCs).
Sorry Wiv, I really like this game, and I very much appreciate you choosing me, and your offer to give me more time, but life has been poppin a lot for me lately.

Monkeygod |

I really liked it a lot too. As soon as I read the Masked Avenger I was super excited to make a PC with it, and the level for this game, plus being gestalt was a perfect chance to play it, I had thought.
Its just with working at a big grocery store during the holidays and our biggest sale of the year, coupled with other real life stuff, things have just been too busy for be to devote time to making a PC that takes as much time as an 18th level gestalt.
Thank you again, and thanks for letting Rynjin in as well. You're good peoples Wiv.
Hopefully you'll run something else soonish, either lower level or if not, hopefully I'll have more free time.

Rynjin |

Belated thanks to Monkeygod for letting me have his spot. =)
I'll make an intro post tomorrow (bedtime now), probably involving stepping out of the Pit for the first time in decades into some alleyway in Cheliax. Cheng is done sans about 20k of gear I haven't allocated, which may just sit by as a "rainy day fund" in case someone dies, we need a scroll of something or other, or things on those lines.

Lady Rosalyn Luminass |

A GM Form what you have said, Post's today and then again on Sunday. My worry is that your GM post rate will be only posts 2x/3x week. Thats looking like 250-350 GM posts for a whole year. GM Its just plan respectful to players to let them know what commitment levels you are offering to a game, that level is real low and you will lose players with that. This was my resining from dropping You may feel I was calling you out and feel free to dos so. You may even feel anger at me and feel free to do so. But you have to let players know that a game would be super slow. Now you may say to me, "Hay you have no idea I will post much more than that." well good, Show me I am wrong, show the others players and give them a great game. I mean it, If me sacrificing my game spot gets them that then I will be happy to have lost it and have a rock fall on my PC. Don't like the game stall and make it fun, So prove me wrong and I will be happy. I will be keeping and eye on the game.
Players: I feel sad that I had to drop to get a response from the GM. You may disagree with me and feel free to, but I really wanted more from this game than such a low level of GM post commitment, my hope is that with all this the GM will offer that to you as players.
@MG, I'm with you,
@Rynjin, that's is a great PC Idea and well thought out.
All the best all.
Have a great game.

Wivvy |

*Sighs* What was the point of that post other than to take credit for yourself if this game picks up pace? I'm not, in any way mad that you left, only a little frustrated at the manner you did so. You didn't "sacrifice" anything, you left. Furthermore this is a forum made form Pathfinder not arguing about who's right and who's wrong. So, if I've come of rude in any way, then I sincerely apologize. Let's bury the hatchet (if there is one to bury) and get on with the fun having. That's all I'm going to say on the matter. Wish you the best.

GM Pandorica |

GM Wivvy like you this will be my last post on this matter and like you
*Sighs*. There is no right or wrong here there was only concern and frustration barn from a lock of communication, so there is no "hatchet" to bury GM Wivvy so no worry's there. my only intent was to have you respect the players and show your commitment to the game or state what that commitment would be. Which you have now done. On two separate occasions I PMs you GM Wivvy on this subject and got no response. So my understandable concern about your commitment and/or lock of communication. As of now you HAVE now stated your commitment and you ARE now responding and posting. It is a shame I had to revoke this but with no feed back from PMs I could see no others way. Other players may not agree with me, but I feel deep down they are more than happy they now have a GM that is now responding and posting more often. So I achieved what I set out to do. There is no hard feeling on my part other than a feeling of disappoint I had to do this to get you to respond.
To help you I suggest you read the below thread on the subject of GMing and Roll playing on here. In fact its very good for anyone, I know it helped me I feel it will be most helpful to you in the Future, most of all the parts on GM communication to players.
Advanced Play-by-Post Play Guild from Painlord
All the best,
Your GM Pandorica
GM Wivvy could you remove my player and PC name from the game list please, thanks you

Wivvy |

Thomas you don't have to have your character all the way done for this part.
So still waiting on two more posts, but it is MLK day here in the US, so I understand. Hoping to get to the good stuff in one or two more days.
To the guys that have already posted, look for a post around noon tomorrow. I'm trying to do these all at once so they don't get out of sync, but you guys shouldn't have to wait. I'd post tonight, but I'm beat from the weekend what with family visits and what not.

Out of curiosity, is this game going to pick up the pace at any point? I'd like to know how far to adjust my expectations here, especially once we hit a combat (at the current pace it would take several weeks just to get through a round).
I lose essentially nothing time-wise keeping up with this game regardless of the speed, so it's not a factor where I'd drop out, but knowing would be nice. I'm used to PbP games with a minimum of one post per day (from every player + the GM).
